Hi Joe,

On a lighter note to my previous posting, but not wanting to get

religious :-) .... I was intrigued to read that someone with an

English name did Ramadan, etc. because my eldest sister and her son

(and his daughter; and now his Moroccan wife) do Ramadan, etc., as

well. Just thought it was interesting. :-)

Take good care :-)

Stupid links. They never work when they are so long.

If you go to the files section, under Healing Therapies, you will

see a file called " rash.jpg "

It's there. I feel quite certain that if I had not fasted to get

the toxins moving out of me, that I might not have healed as well as

I did. It's just amazing to me that this rash developed and in the

place that it did. I no longer ever get that rash when I fast. That

is all the proof that I needed that my implants had left toxic waste

inside of me.

Good Morning ,

That's wonderful that you've been inspired to do a fast for both

physcial and spiritual reasons.

I have done quite a bit of reading about fasting, and my suggestion

is that if you are going to do a water only fast, then you would

avoid all supplements, including the supplements that would do the

work of cleaning you out.

The reason is that you are basically allowing your digestive system

to take a rest. While it is resting, your body will then do work to

clean out other parts of your bodily systems that never have a

chance to clean out. Your eyes will shine brighter, your steps will

be bouncier as your energy levels increase, your head will be

clearer in thinking, your skin will be clearer, which will be

evidence that your body has been able to do some deep cleaning.

It's a good thing!

By adding in even a supplement, you are not allowing your body to

get into that total resting state with digestion.

There are other kinds of fasts which do allow some colon cleansing

supplements, such as psyllium seed husks, but that is a different

approach, and I would suggest reading some books about it. Dr.

Bernard Jensens book about bowel management has such a program.

If you want to do a water only fast, I can share a few links to help

you study this. I also believe that a water only fast is biblical,

as it allows you to totally focus on hearing God's Word to you.

I am sure you have heard of Dr. Bill Bright and Campus Crusade for

Christ....he has a great website about fasting. He will walk you

through it. It is important to start a fast properly (by eating

basically raw foods for a day or two before the fast), but it is

even more important to end the fast correctly. This means breaking

into eating again slowly, with first high-water content fruits or

vegetables such as watermelon or oranges, or steamed zucchini or a

vegetable broth.

http://www.billbright.com/howtofast/index.html

I'll be fasting again soon too!

Love,

Patty

fasing in the Old Testiment. Please excuse me for being vague, my

brain hasn't fully woke up yet today. Anyway, I am thinking of

doing a three day, water fast. Then add juicing after that for

another three days. I think this would be good for me both

spiritually and physically. I have only done the partial day

fasting in the Maker's diet, so of course I have some questions.

During the fast do I still take suppliments and my super seed? I am

assuming the super food is out of the question since it is a food.

I think the super seed would still be beneficial to fully clean me

out, right? I am going to do this next week. My kids are home this

week for spring break and making stuff for them is too much

temptation. Any imput on how to execute a successful fast would be

great.

Patty,

Dieting slows your metabolism, what does fasting do???????

Always wondered about that.

Fasting also slows your metabolism, but you can mediate that with

appropriate exercise.

In the long term, a slower metabolism should not necessarily be

looked upon as a bad thing.

While controversial, it is thought that biologically a slower

metabolism can contribute to longevity. This ws a theory based upon

some studies which can be investigated on the internet.

I don't have alot of time to find supporting links, but here is one:

Thanks Patty, I appreciate your wisdom. Looks like I need to make sure I have more info before I start my fast. I will definatly read up on it before I start. Let us know when you decide to do a fast, and how it goes for you.

For me, fasting is definitely more of a mental challenge than a

physcial one. I don't feel hungry on a fast past the first day. I

actually feel energized, and don't even want to eat because

sometimes eating makes me feel lethargic.

So, it becomes a test of willpower more than anything. What I tell

myself to remain successful in fasting is that the food will be

there when I am done...that we have always had lots of food

available, and it will be there in a few days. I just can't have it

now, NOT NOW. But it will be there.

This has helped me tremendously to overcome those urges to break the

fast.

I will have to do another fast soon too. My parents are here, and

that makes it a little harder, but I'll do it with you if you need a

fasting partner for support. Just let me know!

Thanks for the offer to partner with me Patty, I just got home from visiting my mother and sister. It is so hard for them to understand my quest for a healthier lifestyle. My sister is better at it than my mom. My mom has been alwyas all about herself, so she really can't see past herself to see my pain. I just got home last night. I don't really feel the visit was stressful at all, but I woke up with another cold sore this morning. This is the second one in a month. I have been taking my l-lysine daily since the last one a few weeks ago. I must be so full of toxins that the lysine isn't doing its job. I am still planning on doing a fast. I am going to start on Monday. It will be easier for me to plan the meals ahead if my kids are not home with me all day. I love to eat, so I can use all the support I can get. I am going to do alot of researching about fasting today, if you have any encouraging words for me it will be greatly appreciated. Have a good day, Lglory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: ,Let us know when you decide to do a fast, and how it goes for you. Grape juice as well as L-lysine will help, but I have to take 3-500

mg. of L-lysine 3 times a day, and they are gone in 2 days.

Hi Meg,

I don't have experience with fasting but I thought I would mention that Buhner

has written

on a book on fasting called The Fasting Path and I have a review of it on my

website:

http://tinyurl.com/ysbfyo I don't know that he talks about it in relation to

Lyme though.

Personally, I have struggled with hypoglycemia for years and could never think

of fasting

at this point - my protein needs are too great and I need to keep my blood sugar

levels

balanced. This might be from the Lyme, who knows.

FWIW

So I guess my question is this: does anybody have any experience with fasting

and lyme? I

wouldn't think that would have anything to do with my flare, as it started

fairly early on in

the day, but I just thought I'd see if any of you had any experience with this.

I used to fast

now and then and never had any problems doing so, but this is the first time

since getting

sick that I've fasted (except for a few times when I was so nauseated I couldn't

eat; once

for a couple days straight). So could it be from the andrographis?

Andropraphis can definitely cause the increase in heart palpitations,

but some of the other symptoms sound like a herx. Remember, oftentimes

the herx will correspond to your regular Lyme symptoms. You already

had tremors, pain, etc., and now you're seeing those things magnified.

At the same time, however, this isn't a race, so I would definitely

cut down your dose until the symptoms are more bearable.

Gotta go.

muscle twitching, tingling (almost numbness) in my extremities, a big

increase in pain (joints, bones, muscles, the whole shebang; I was

writing a letter earlier today and had to stop prematurely because the

pain was so bad I just couldn't hardly hold the pen anymore), more

welcome meg, so happy you found this group.

i used to fast periodically without problems (my last fast was 19 days on

dilute fruit juice and veg broth). since becoming disabled with lyme, etc, i

find i can no longer fast. in part, i have to take all my supplements and

herbs with food or great upset. last month i was supposed to prep for

colonoscopy by going off herbs and then fasting day before. that day of

fasting was day of hell for me--worst symptoms ever. big mistake to stop

herbs and big mistake not to eat.

so, don't know how it affects you, but lyme generally changes everything.

just because you used to be able to fast with no problems, can't rely on

that now. so, go slowly, be gentle with yourself, check in with your body,

no expectations.

in this challenging time of illness and transition,

may gratitude and wonder enlighten your path, step by step.

may grace and ease enliven your presence, breath by breath.

Hi:

I used to fast but that was many, many years ago, long before Lyme. AND it

was not easy.

It will get rid of a lot of toxins in your body, but I could not do it now,

since I only take herbs WITH food. AND herbs are a KIND OF food also. True

fasting is with water only. Plenty of water.

I could only go a few days with JUST water, and would then start adding juices

into the mix, and finally Jello, and little by little fruits and then more solid

food.

BUT I would think IF you are on herbs, it would not be considered fasting

anyway.

Meg, glad you find the group helpful.

As for fasting, I would agree with previous answers. Fasting with

lyme, for me, is next to impossible.

When I'm loaded with toxins of die off or with metals (or both), I

need the opposite, eat, eat, eat, or I literally collapse. I fall

down anywhere I am. I mean, that was how it used to be.

I later understood that we need to repose fats everytime we fight

such toxins, that our nervous system is in need of fats to build

itself and protect itself (if I understood well). And I craved many

other things too in large quantities. I never gained a single gram

while eating desperately like that, even without any gastro-

intestinal problem whatsoever. My intestines were working perfect

most of the time I was with this 'eating disorder'!!!

So I believe my body used up all those things, either to build itself

(proteins, oils) or to cleanse (fibers, oils, chlorella, minerals).

Or as energy to fight pathogens, who knows?

If I didn't carry enough good food, fruits, seeds with me while I was

outside, I could need help from someone if I spent 4 hours without

food, as my energy would just go so low, I would feel almost in

despair.

So while you're killing bacteries, and these critters liberate toxins

in your body, I don't see how fasting could do good. Maybe someone

here would come with a different view.

You got to watch out for die-off symptoms. I would go very slow in

your place, dropping the dose of killers. To avoid damage with excess

of herxes. Both andro and knotweed can kill all around your body, I

wouldn't 'play' with herxes as excess of toxins can just stop your

development some time soon and cause lasting symptoms/ damage.

Selma,

Thanks again for your help and suggestions (and everybody else who offered what

they knew and their experiences with Lyme and fasting)! I really appreciate it!

I got up very early this morning (8:30! LOL But hey, compared to 11:00 that IS

early) to have breakfast with my mom, and it threw off my " groove " and I forgot

to take all of my stuff (except the Samento that I take before I even get out of

bed) -- coincidence or not, I feel almost good so far today (though evenings are

typically worse anyway). Pretty much the opposite of yesterday. Hehe. So I

probably just need to take it even slower on the andrographis and resveratrol...

it's kind of funny to me how in retrospect I can see what the problems are so

much more clearly. Live and learn though, eh? And when I'm too duh to think of

it on my own, I can bug you all. ;) Thanks for letting me. :)

I have a few more minutes, here.

I wouldn't try fasting right now, personally. Especially a water fast.

If you're herxing, your body is already practically overworking itself

in trying to clear itself of those endotoxins. A water fast will

release *more* toxins, and speed up this process too much, which would

be *very* uncomfortable.

at least in the beginning I'd do more lurking than writing in, but

it's been so nice having people with experience in all this that I can

talk to, that I'm back for more help.

> Lately I've been seeming to have a flare up of symptoms; this is

typical for me every few weeks, even though the Samento I've been on

since September seems to be working some major wonders for me. My

flares are usually pretty mild. Yesterday I started on Andrographis

and Resveratrol (I'm waiting for a couple other things to arrive).

Today I've had a *major* increase in symptoms. I'm having trouble even

thinking of what they are, my brain feels so foggy. So sad. This is

going to take a long time to write. haha. I was having a *lot* more

muscle twitching, tingling (almost numbness) in my extremities, a big

increase in pain (joints, bones, muscles, the whole shebang; I was

writing a letter earlier today and had to stop prematurely because the

pain was so bad I just couldn't hardly hold the pen anymore), more

(and louder) ringing in my ears than I've ever had before, and also a

lot more tremoring than is normal for me, even during a typical flare.

Also I was noticing a lot more

> heart palpitations. Aside from starting the andrographis and

resveratrol yesterday evening, I spent today in prayer and fasting. So

I guess my question is this: does anybody have any experience with

fasting and lyme? I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with

my flare, as it started fairly early on in the day, but I just thought

I'd see if any of you had any experience with this. I used to fast now

and then and never had any problems doing so, but this is the first

time since getting sick that I've fasted (except for a few times when

I was so nauseated I couldn't eat; once for a couple days straight).

So could it be from the andrographis?

I agree totally with your ending Selma.

I guess MOST of us ONLY think of getting rid of this incideous disease when we

first get serious about ridding it from our bodies. And ALL we can think of is

KILL those Damn things.

BUT it is probably MORE important to get our bodies cleansed from toxins, and

working properly so we don't get the overloads of die off of the Spirochetes, or

Ketes as some call them.

IF we don't keep our liver and ALL of the REST of the Lymph " System " working

PROPERLY, we are just heading for trouble,.........................BIGTIME.

I truly believe THAT is one of the main reasons SO MANY are herxing and

hurting so bad and FEEL like they are going to die who are taking all those

antibiotics. They are asking their bodies to do things they are not designed

for, nor capable of keeping up with.

IF we keep it CLEAR, we won't feel nearly as bad as if we let it build up.

THAT is why I am so strong on Sarsaparilla for the REST OF MY LIFE, And ALSO

Red Root tincture AND Milk Thistle.

Jim.

That makes sense! I wasn't doing a water fast (I had enough sense to know that

would be problematic); just food, and only for the day. I don't think I'll try

it again anytime soon though. It probably wasn't the smartest thing ever, but I

really felt like I needed to do it (for spiritual reasons, not physical -- haha,

call me a food addict, but I can't see any physical problem being helped by not

eating ;) ).

As for the flare/herxing, now that I'm thinking clearly again (I didn't realize

how bad last night was until I woke up this morning!) I quite agree with what

you said and it really couldn't be plainer than the nose on my face. I'd say " my

duh " but I'd rather blame those blasted spirochetes. I've cut my dose by 2/3 and

will just have to work up *really* slowly. So far I'm still having a slight

increase in symptoms, but nothing compared to last night!

I've definitely been trying to " push it " on the herbs and things -- my mom keeps

telling me how I don't want try to do this or that (you know, rearrange my

bedroom, get a job, go camping, plan a wedding, etc, etc) until I'm better, so

I'm kind of... anxious. I'm going to *try* to relax though. As a great preacher

once said, " It's beyond my control and I must put my hands to my side and relax

knowing that God is going to take care of this. " He has so far. :)

Thanks again for all the advice!

Hi Selma,

I would agree with you. The adrenals get immensely stressed out

without food in the body, and we need all the power we can get from

our adrenals!

On the other hand, digesting heavy metals require a huge supply of

energy from the body, so eating light and frequently might be a good

choice when you are detoxing or not feeling well.

Balance between protein, fats and complex carbs is important.

Hi Connie, thanks. I'm back in track, I think.

No way to eat light when I'm metal detoxing. Fats are the first thing I

crave. I'm on a pause of metal detox in the last 2 weeks, so back to

eating normally again. Not craving anything particular these last days.

As soon as I'll re-start it, I'll crave for fats, minerals and fibers

LIKE HELL. It's been like this for almost a year, so I know it won't

change... It would be easier to digest lighter things, of course, but

tell that to my body!! He does't listen. If I dont' get my dose of fat,

I'll continue craving, then will eat sugar, that is the worst. And will

still be hungry after.

Our brains are almost pure fat, I guess there must be a link in between

these flying metals, fats and our nervous system. Gigi, from the other

forum, was eating 8 eggs a day while metal detoxing. And she was

minimum 70, if not already 80 years old at that time! She survived and

got cured from lyme.

I didn't reach that amount yet, hopefully will never need so much, but

I 'understand' her craving!

Selma,

Thats interesting you notice these cravings with metal detox! I continue to

be amazed at the connection you have between your therapies/diet/symptoms. Most

of the time I can't figure out what is helping with what, and just have a vague

idea. Probably has something to do with not trusting myself.

Funny what you say about fats, though. I crave almond butter and go through a

tub or two in a week! It's like I can't get enough, though I take EFA's and

eat a balanced diet.

how are you detoxing for metals these days?

I did pca-rx for a year and am now just on glutathione tablets, chlorella and

sometimes cilantro.

Have a great day! Connie

Well, by " water fast " I mean drinking only water (as opposed to

something like a juice fast, where you only drink juice). lol. I'm

sure you would've known that on a good day. :-p Feel free to slap your

forehead.

Relaxing is definitely a good idea. Stress is harmful both spiritually

and physically -- I would know. Chronic problems can't be made right

overnight. You just have to (try to) stay calm, do what you can, and

know that God will work things out according to his gracious will. He

always does, though we're often faithless and incapable of seeing the

Connie, I just re-read things about this PCA-RX. It sounds so good.

What was your experience with it? Did you feel it REALLY made a

difference? I mean, did you feel really detoxifying while you were on

it for so long?

How long did a bottle last for you? I mean, it's pretty expensive,

that's why I'm asking...

Was it hard to take?

I guess the 3 main detoxifiers dr. K uses are: cilantro (2x day, 10

drops on hot water), chlorella (every day, at least once, a few

tablets) and goat whey (good absorbable minerals, don't remember

when/ how much a day, as I'm allergic to any milk...).

I mean, once your main load of metals are taken off, it seems that

these are the 3 maintenance products that would deal with most of

everyday toxins.

I can't stand so much cilantro, not even few drops of it 2x day. I

still have some way to go with other stronger detoxing agents, I

guess.

I read that glutathione (ingested) is not very efficient as the IV

version, but I haven't read about sublingual stuff... Do you feel it

works a bit for your liver/ detoxing?

It's funny you crave for almond butter! Protein and fat again.....

My doctor told me he wanted to make me his research-patient! I'm so

sensitive to things that I notice most of 'new' things going inside

my body. That's probably why I react with herbs so strongly, even

with so little amount. And I'm super sensitive to homeopathy too.

You can imagine when I was having all these new lyme symptoms coming

every day different, I got totally lost and confused, as I couldn't

trust my body either. It was like I got completely lost really. First

time experience in my life.

Fortunately, Buhner's herbs and detox stuff made my body 'stable'

and 'readable' again. Fewer symptoms/ critters to track!

Good night!

Okay, now I *will* say it: My duh. *slaps forehead* :-P Seriously, this disease

has turned my brain to mush I think. I never thought of myself as especially

intelligent, but I'm doing and saying stupider things every day, it seems. But

it makes for funny stories at least, and laughter is supposed to be good

medicine, so there's the bright side to that (and also I can make people of

average intelligence feel really smart! So there's another plus! See how much

good can come out of all this? hahaha).

Also, I guess you learn something new every day. Or rather, re-learn something

new every day. After you said that melatonin can make depression worse, I

vaguely remembered reading that somewhere a long time ago. Now I feel even

smarter! Wheeeee! This is fun! :)

Relax. Everything's gonna be iry.
