Hi Amy,Is your undershirt taped to the cast? We had those very stretchy knit-rite under t-shirts and we took it off and washed it and then put tit back on. It's tricky the first time, but once you get it down it's pretty easy to do. A lifesaver. There is a video on YouTube of how to do it and I've posted written instructions here- let me know if you need them. Hi Amy,

What kind of pads are you using? We used Poise in the large size and just positioned them closer to the front and tucked the diaper under the cast to form a seal. This worked really well for us and we never had to limit liquids after starting this method. Hi everyone,My daughter 15 month old daughter Aly is in her first Mehta cast, since July 29. She is adjusting well overall and nothing seems to bother her. My problem, however, is her stinky undershirt. She is a belly sleeper and her diaper leaks up through the front when she sleeps. We change her three times a night, use an extra pad, and stick panty liners on the under side of her shirt. Her cast is lined w duct tape so I'm not worried about it getting wet- she just STINKS! Any other ideas I'm not tHinking of?Thanks--Amy Sent from my iPhone 4

Yes I have had both straps taken off Olivia's cast due to rubbing issues without any problem. I know the Dr arn't fond of it but I have found the straps have no real benifit unless the cast is loos and couls slip down, but if that is the case it is not doing it's job at all.

Hi Amy,

Removing the undershirt is a great fix if you have the type of cast that

will allow for it to be put back on safely and its a plan you.ve discussed

w/ Aly's treating doc. The video on youtube is a very helpful tool in

showing how it can be done. If the doc isnt in agreement w/ you

removing/replacing the shirt the only way to go about cleaning it is to

pull it down as much as possible for a good soap & water washing. Then

dry w/ a blowdryer b4 letting the shirt go back up.

Good luck!

Yes, always check with your doctor first, of course. We used Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser- or generic of the same- mixed with Burt's Bees baby wash and that got the smell out of the bottom of the under t-shirt pretty well until we started the t-shirt removal. Rinse carefully with water , ring out, towel dry and use a blowdryer on cool or warm- being very careful not to burn skin, of course. We put a towel on our son's legs to keep the heat away. A dab of Cetaphil is also good for spot cleaning the t-shirt or cast with unscented wipes. We took the shirt off a couple of times, but it was sooo difficult to get back

on properly, and our daughter was NOT calm like the child in the youtube video,

so definitely consider that. We use Huggies overnite diapers and get about 7

hours before needing a change. We also use " rubberized flannel sheeting " cloth

cut into strips between the diaper and the shirt to protect from leaks.

Hope that helps!

This is really strange. I am sure that I responded with my joke about being

cured and living in NYC, more than a week ago. Yet, it only was posted

yesterday.

, I will try to get the names of a few rental places for your

equipment. Are there specific models or requirements you might have? Also, do

you have a budget you are trying to stay within? NYC can be an expensive town.

If I can find someone to loan you something, that might help.

If you want to respond privately, you can send an e-mail to tk@....

Good luck,

I used SuperShuttle to get from the airport (LaGuardia) to our hotel. I had to

request a wheelchair accessible shuttle in advance. Here is a link to

SuperShuttle: http://www.supershuttle.com

We used the public bus system to get around instead of trying the subways and/or

private cars. ~a

When I called to make the reservation with SuperShuttle I explained that I use a

400 pound, power wheelchair and needed a wheelchair accessible shuttle for both

trips (from the airport to hotel, then from the hotel to the airport).I was able

to stay in my wheelchair.

I am not sure what you're asking about when you say " is it just the check book

in the booking to ensure a wheelchair acsssable van " . ~a

Is alcohol allowed? The Vitamix Whole Fruit Margarita is a popular party drink. I've learned from experience to peel the limes, lemons, and oranges in advance…http://www.vitamix.com/party/
