Hi there- I have been listening to 's podcasts and also reading emails. I

have very strong limiting belief that I need a sugar binge to get thru my rough

spots. I put on 20lbs this year and I am struggling. Very sad and need some

support. I was in therapy and my therapist said " big deal you had a hard year

and you comfort yourself with food " - I explained that I felt sick and did not

fit into my clothes. I decided I needed a new avenue of help.

I am near NYC -in NJ-Hoboken. Does anyone have suggestions- NLP---EFT?

Thanks for any help.

Hope I can help you someday.-F

You are not alone - I completely relate to this idea that I deserve a

treat/binge when things are rough - or after a long week that is how I've chosen

to unwind - or so I tell myself.

I've been naturally slender before and got off track ...but I know I was always

see-sawing with binging and starving a bit - just way over correcting. I know we

can all heal from this behavior because I've been there - but I also feel that

these tools we are now getting are going to make my next slender episode really

stick in a calm way. Smaller corrections. I don't have to overeat because I get

to eat...it is ok.

I am now starting to use some of the concepts on weightloss to see that

giving myself a treat is to not engage in these behaviors. What a treat to eat

light, to check in and ask my stomach what will feel good in it over

time...today I went for a walk in the afternoon after a whole day of working

inside. I never do that and I live by the beach!! It felt so amazing to be able

to give that to myself. And...after 3 days of avoiding my binge foods altogether

I feel much better. The first couple of days were really hard because the

feelings are so hard...(I use food to hide those feelings but it turns out

feeling them is the easier way).

I listened non-stop to the podcast and each day has felt better. I was actually

able to sit calmly and work all day - I'm usually so distracted - is anyone else

like this? The food I was going to in order to keep me calm and focused was

making me sick and distracted.

My therapist is helpful with these issues but you can get support here and from

the podcasts...I'm new but it seems like people are responding and checking in.

Just take it one day at a time as they say - so annoying but honestly each day

adds up.

I was hating myself (really badly) a few days ago - I know I don't look any

different but it didn't take looking better in order for me to feel better. And

I think that is one of my limiting beliefs - that I have to look like a

supermodel in order to feel ok about myself. That just isn't the case and I know

it because of how I feel right now.

Keep checking in...

I really related to 's podcast about " treating " yourself with food -- maybe

that's worth a re-listen for you??

" Because you know deep inside that when you overeat, when you eat junk food,

what are you really depriving yourself of? Yeah. That’s right. You’re

depriving yourself of health. You’re depriving yourself of looking good in

those cute clothes in your closet or the cute clothes in the window of the shop

that you love. You’re depriving yourself perhaps of feeling really good in

your body. That’s what you’re depriving yourself of. So wake up to that

notion, that real depravation is what you do when you don’t treat yourself

like a queen or a king and giv yourself the very best. "

When I think of treating myself with food -- I now think of that 'treat' being

something that deprives me of good health and doing what I want to do with my

life -- that treat actually limits not only what I do but how I feel & how I

act/react

take care of yourself!

Dear Feziwigg (still think that is an awesome screenname!!! =)

Don't know that I have any new help, but I did want you to know that you are

not alone in this... we are all here for you and most of us probably have

similar beliefs about 'needing' some special food to help us through. As

for your therapist, you know they say these things to try to shock us into

new thinking. Sometimes it works, but in my experience, it usually works

years later! You know that saying... when the pupil is ready the teacher

will appear... a therapist told me something very harsh and it was probably

six years before it made sense! lol

Sugar is one of those things that makes you feel bad just because of the

physiological impact it has on the body... those blood sugar swings can be

brutal. I have been trying to have fruit or make a smoothie instead of

heading to the cookies. I really feel so much better when I do... much

more energy and generally feeling better.

Anyway, I mainly just wanted to give you a virtual hug and pat on the back.

You know, the original Feziwigg was full of love and laughter and goodwill

and I have never seen him portrayed as anything but rotund! lol

Thanks for sharing your limiting beliefs. I am just working out mine. This is

what I have so far:

I am a stress eater.

I am going through a rough patch and don't have the energy to lose weight.

I cannot relax (watch Tv, veg out etc.) without snacking.

I have always been fat, my family is fat.

My body is hardwired to retain the weight.

I am a big girl and that is a sign of strength.

I love to eat.

Food comforts me unlike anything else.

When I want to reward myself, food is the easiest (and best) treat.

I am sure there are more things, but for now want to work on resolving these.

Thanks everyone for your intent and support!

Thanks to you all for posting your limiting beliefs. They sound like I wrote

them myself. I've been having trouble figuring out what to put down. Now when

I sit down this evening I will come away with something useful.

Thanks to you all for posting your limiting beliefs. They sound like I wrote

them myself. I've been having trouble figuring out what to put down. Now when

I sit down this evening I will come away with something useful.

I LOVE the limiting belief that we LOVE to eat! That's so right on... for

the most part, eating is a pretty weird phenomenon.. and, for the most part,

I DON'T really love to eat... I love to feel light in my body, etc. Maybe

we love to TASTE! And, I am starting to really appreciate the act of

tasting.. I can try everything and anything, savor it slowly and not feel

compelled to eat all of it, not feel deprived. That being said, I do

believe from experience that sugar has a crazy addictive quality and the

consequences are undeniable... I eat sugar and I want more... so, we find

out what works with time.

All I know is that I am holding on tight to this calorie counting insanity!

I only starting counting calories after starting Overeaters Anonymous and

after I went to a nutritionist. I wanted to " double check " the amounts that

she was prescribing and now counting calories is my fall back when feeling

compulsive. I REALLY want to stop. I guess the part of me that doesn't want

to stop is totally scared of gaining weight... of thinking about the rest of

Life?! Anyway, I really dislike the practice and would love to hear some

thoughts from y'all regarding calorie counting... how you stopped, etc.

AMEN! ALL

I agree about the addictive quality of sugar! I have to watch the types of

sugar I ingest. I love your take on tasting rather than eating! I'm going to

keep that in mind.

Regarding calorie counting, I totally understand the wish to move away from it

and work on being more mindful of your eating. I did calorie counting on and

off during my weight loss journey. I learned so much about portion and satiety

from calorie counting. But like you I did not like the compulsive feelings

associated with it. Perhaps you could start by counting calories for 1/2 days

first or every other day and slowly back down to not counting altogether? I

stopped calorie counting completely in Aug/Sept 09. I learned to listen more to

my hunger and I did in fact lose another 15 lbs from that time to Dec 09 when I

hit my weight goal. I've been maintaining since Dec 09 and have even lost about

3 lbs since then. I feel great!

I forgot to add in my earlier reply that I feel like maybe one of your limiting

beliefs is that you believe that you are unable to lose weight without counting

calories? I think that counting calories is a great tool but it's not the be

all and end all of weight loss. Can you take all of the great things that you

have learned from calorie counting but kind of keep it in the back of your mind?

Trust yourself. Listen to your hunger. I also find that planning my meals, and

snacks, is super helpful in keeping me on track.

Hi , The best vinegar to add is acidic Kombucha, ready brewed.

If you are short of that, you can use distilled malt vinegar at the

beginning of the brewing cycle.

Just spoon a tablespoon of vinegar over your scoby/top of your new brew.

Don't use cider vinegar (unless you boil it and cool it first), as this

contains a different culture called 'Mother of vinegar' which can mess

up your Kombucha culture.

The acidity is good especially to ward off mold spores.

You can get Kombucha vinegar from a scoby hotel, where the scobys

eat all the still remaining sugar in the KT liquid. Even the acidity

at the end of your KT brewing may be good enough to give your new brew

sufficient acidity. 1/2 - 1 cup added to your new brew should be sufficient.

yours acidically ;-)

If you have enough starter liquid, it shouldn't be necessary. AFAIK,

vinegar is only used to acidify the brew to protect against mold when

there isn't enough acidic starter liquid.

Hi, Margret, it is hard to find distilled " malt " vinegar " here, we have plain

distilled though. Would that suffice?... Jahjet
