Iris,

I hope I am at last going to feel better. I have shown no pound loss but when I

put my bra on this morning it seems I may be about an inch smaller. I still

have this terrible headache which is probably just withdrawal from the carbs. I

do feel better thru my mid-section. Have lost the bloat. Will be glad when it

shows up on the scales.

Excuse the bold print but I don't see real well when it comes to email.

Will be watching for your results. Good luck to both of us

hello there! This is a great diet, but more important than the actual diet,

i think, is the support that you'll get from the website. It makes all the

difference to be able to talk to people who are going through the same

trials you are. Good Luck

Hi Penny,

I have been dieting off and on for about 30 yrs. I've tried all sorts of

diets and right now am trying to stick to Weight Watchers. I've seen a lot

about the Atkins diet recently and want to find out what it's about. I know

it's a low carb, high protein diet. I want to see if it's something I can

live with. By joining this list I'm hoping to see other peoples' successes

and experiences with this diet. Thank you for your help.

Cathy,

I have been on Atkins for a week and have lost 12 pounds. It is much

easier than WW; all you have to count is your carb grams, as long as

you're eating enough. It is easy to stay on because there is no

hunger and minimal cravings. I feel better than I have in a long

time, as far as energy goes. Sometimes I even want to break into a

run while I'm walking. I recommend it!

Hi Everyone,

I just ordered the book that everyone's talking about, The New Revolution.

I was just wondering what the difference was between this program and

Protein Power.

I'm anxious to know. A few years ago I did Blanchard's and we checked

Ketosis sticks. Protein Power does not go into this.

My thinking before anyone answers is that I will like The Atkins program

much better. On Protein power hubby lost 50 pounds and I had lost 40 pounds

2 years ago. He only gained 20 pounds back and I gained mine all back. 1

week ago we started back!! I have lost 2 pounds so far.

Don't know what hubby has done yet.

Deanna,

Protein Power subtracts fiber from the carbs, Atkins doesn't I think that is

the only major difference. But I am not sure, there are a few people on PP on

the list, maybe they can help answer this

Hi, I've been on Atkins for about 9 weeks. Started at

157 pounds, weight is now 145. Goal weight is 130.

One thing that helps me to stick to this way of life

is support/message boards. I've learned that there

are alot of wonderful people out there helping and

encouraging each other, so I like to check out the

boards when I hear about them. From what I read,

there are great people on your list. Even tho I only

have 15 lbs left to lose, it's very difficult at this

point, and after all, it is a way of life. Thank you

for your welcome.

Hello and welcome to the list Judy,

You should really give Atkins a try for at least two weeks and then decide.

You may not lose as quickly as you would like to because the less you have to

lose the slower it tends to come off. But you will find that on this way of

eating (WOE), you will lose the cravings and you will feel good. If you have

any questions, please feel free to ask. Be sure to check out the website that

Penny created. Its listed below my signature line.

Hello, I am new to the list and to Atkins, I have been on it (along with my

fiance) for a week and a half and have lost about 5 pounds so far. My mother

turned me onto this way of life (she has lost 40 pounds in 5 months!) My goal

on this plan is to loose about 70 pounds, my fiance about 40, I know we can

do it! Thanks, and I hope all is well with everyone!

Hello all! I am new to the list, bet you see that a

lot!

I am pretty much the dorkiest, friendliest, person

that will probably ask you the most questions of

anyone around. Actually I am not that bad, just wanted

to say something different than the normal blah blah

blah.

I have been on Atkins for a month now. I have come to

the conclusion that I am have high insulin resistance.

I am committed to this wol.

Here are my goals:

Everytime I eat cottage cheese, I do not want to be

reminded of my thighs, butt and arms.

-To post a 90 lbs success story to the list.

- To change my thoughts into long term thinking so I

realize and accept this woe for the rest of my life

-To not binge

-To stop a binge if I start one and to stop myself

when I know I am wrong, even if it isn't a binge.

-To say and make a big deal over losing weight and

pray my dh doesn't bring it up again 2 days later

because I have gained it back.

-To feel like I am in control

-To get my pride, independace and spritual self back

-To FEEL like exercising

-To feel like I am healthy

-To look like I feel

-To stop brushing up against people and feel shocked

that it was me

-To encourage my family to get healthier

-Get into clothes from a year ago

-Get out of a car gracefully

-To not see my wobble (my double chin) in pictures

-To lose so much that my dh won't have a belly to

shake

-To not be too forgivcing if I screw up because it

gives me licese to do it again.

Issues I need to deal with

-I feel like I need to draw attention away from me

while I am on a diet because I only want the attention

after I see results.

-To learn why exactly I binge when my dh works at

night.

-To get rid of this " I'll show you " attitude

-Learn how to deal with my constant cravings for

sweets and chocolate

-To learn why I have a fear of being thin.

-To deal with my thoughts that someone should love me

like I am, no matter what because I turn everything

into this argument.

-To overcome my boredom with diets (even this one)

-To be able to see other people around me eating

something and not want it.

SO that is me in so many words.

Glad to be aboard and will be talking with you soon!
