Guest guest
, The " Me " book by Dr. Lovaas helped me to start my grandson in therapy, primarily speech as this is where he needs help the most right now. My daughter, his Mother, also has the Let Me Hear Your Voice and the Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism but the " Me " book has helped me (I do my 4 yr. grandson and she does my 2 yr granddaughter, since she seems to be somewhat behind in speech) set up a program the most. My grandson gets 1 1/2 hours speech therapy from the school system a week. My daughter has set up a meeting with the teachers, etc. and I am going also to try to get the school to give more speech therapy. We would like at the very least 1 hour a day, one on one aba speech therapy, but I fear that will not happen. We are in process right now to try to find an advocate for my grandson that can help us in that area. I really don't have much hope for that, either but you never know. My grandson has already made a few gains (I've been doing my own speech therapy per the " Me " book for about 3 weeks), so we are encouraged somewhat. We want more gains, tho. We have learned so much on how to help him talk through the " Me " book and a litte from the Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism. Different people like different things, this is just what has helped us. Yup, I often type eht for the, and automatically put an " ing " on anything with an " in " at the end, regardless of whether it needs a g or not. I think sometimes, my right hand is faster than my left. Then when you add my poor spelling on top of things...I'm just grateful for spell checkers! And it seems to me that the more pain I'm in the harder it becomes to communicate at all. I try to see the funny side of it when I come up with something totally off the wall, but it does get frustrating after a while. My memory lapses sometimes just aren't amusing, either--last week I totally blanked out on how to do a simple computer task at work, and it is something which I literally do every day and have done for 13 years! Guest guest
Hi, A disease is some that is degenerative that cannot be reversed. It can be treated but never cured. A chronic condition is something that can be reversed. For example, some heavy duty detox programs can reverse chronic conditions (ie. asthma, loss of hearing, and other things). Fasting is one way to reverse some of these things. To learn more about it, there is a great book called The Detox Book. I have been told (by medical doctors) that I cannot cure my pcos- but pcos is a chronic condition, not a disease and according to my last visit with my GYN I have done a fine job of about getting rid of it. I was researching fibromyalgia for my sister and am wondering if a fasting and/or detox program might be helpful for her in trying to reverse the condition. Not sure if I was clear in all of that- but if you have questions please let me know. Also, when/if you are able to reverse your chronic condition- it is my assumption that you are suceptable to it coming back if you resort back to the lifestyle in which fed the condition to begin with. I find that in order to maintain the level of healing that I have obtain so far I need to have a different approach to my mind, body and spirit. Thanks, Sunny > What's the difference?? > > In a message dated Thu, 17 Jan 2002 2:41:50 PM Eastern Standard Time, " pcoholistic " writes: > > > Hi, > > > > I just thought of another question- is fibromyalgia considered > > a " chronic condition " or a disease? > > > > Thank you, > > Sunny > > > > > > > > SEND POST TO: fibromyalgia-cfs@y... > > > > HOME PAGE:http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Oaks/7127/fibromyalgia- cfs.html > > LIST OWNER: " Missy " > > UNSUBSCRIBE:fibromyalgia-cfs-unsubscribe@y... > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hello, I can't drive myself because of pain in my wrists, arms, and back so my husband drives me everywhere. If we drive for more than an hour I get very tired and feel useless for the rest of the day. It also makes my pain worse and I usually sit with a heating pad for the rest of the day. I think some of it has to do with our car. We have 95 camaro and the seats just kill my back. I've put a " better back " and pillows in the car and they help a little but I don't think I'll ever be comfortable in cars.

Guest guest
Fay... I have found the ultimate contraption for long distance driving...It does not totally take away the pain, but it makes the difference that my back hurts in 3 hours instead of 1/2 hour. It is a seat pad made by Homedics. It has heat and massage and a lumbar support. It plugs into your cigarette lighter. I don't use the massage setting because of my brain malformation, the vibration gives me major headache. But, the heat and support does wonders for me. I think I paid $20-$30 for this at Macy's, and it made a world of difference. It never leaves my car now. On the other hand. Don't forget to turn it off when you turn off the car...LOL It eats your battery. (I left it plugged in for 3 days!) Missy
