Hi Jenifer I take a multi vitamin and a criomium in the morning with

breakfast and at dinner. Some ppl nee the ones for craveing so it is

a choice youll have to find out when you start if you need them not

everyne is the same. try starting with a good muliti vitamin 2 times a

day and see from there. Sue

This is the email list they go back and forth I do have a chat room on

yahoo it is in the clubs area it is call atkin a way of life you can

register for it on www.yahoo.com then goto the club area and search for

the name. Chat times are 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. m-f that is when i am

Thanks for the welcome....use the caps because of my vision..1 eye had

cataract surg. one eye still so-so...but I just made the ltrs a little

bigger. thanks again for letting me know..

It is under the health catogoy and dieting you can do a search when

you get into clubs for atkin and find it that way also. As for a food

diary i kept ont in the very begining you get use to what you can

have and what you cant. Sue

My name is kim and im new to atkins,started today.This is in reference to

First things first: welcome to the list. For myself, I'm thinking that this

way of eating is now a way of life for me. I've watched the scale steadily

record the increase in my weight over the years, regardless of whatever diet

I was on (mostly it was low fat). But when a blood sugar score came back way

too high for my comfort last year, I started thinking that I needed to make a

serious change. I made some incremental changes myself, but it wasn't until

I read Dr A's book that I really decided to make the leap. I must say that I

am really glad that I did.

I too am always looking for fast meals. Cheese and hard boiled eggs are

always a treat, especially after years of low-fat, low fun foods. We also

bought some Egg Protein (Optimum Nutrition is the brand I think) at GNC, and

a scoop mixed with 2/3 cup of cold water (or crushed ice if you like a slushy

sort of shake) and 1/3 cup of heavy cream makes a dandy quick meal,

especially for those times when I have forgotten to eat, and I have a client

coming. I also almost always enjoy a nice cheese omelet -- well, I enjoy it,

I don't necessarily make the omelet very well yet.

Good Luck Vicki,

I know you can do it!

Don't forget to have a couple of snacks in between meals. Preferably

protein. (A hard boiled eggs, a slice of Turkey, maybe a couple of pieces of

bacon.) It will do wonders.

I'm Marsha and I don't really know anything about Atkins. That is why I

subscribed to this list. I am hoping to learn more. I probably won't be able

to contribute too much at first until I learn more. Hope

Hi!

I am a 5'6 " tall 45 year old from Longmont (Boulder), CO, with three kids

(20, 19, and 17 in one month), one husband (that's PLENTY thank you...) and

one very full-time job. My husband and I began an " Atkins-like " diet today

in preparation for the arrival of the book. We should be ready to begin in

full force by Wednesday.

I have read the archives and see many different levels of success. Penny

173/162/130 and 360/330/150 particularly caught my attention. Penny

because she is about my weight and has close to the same goal. because

of her great succes so far!! I already got a recipe from the archives I want

to try (Omelet Muffins) and look forward to other Tried and True recipes as

well!

While I do belong to another email list that provides me with a lot of

encouragement and support, I also look forward to this group as I have

decided to become a " Low-Carber " like the rest of you. I can tell by the

arcives that you are a great group and I am excited to be here and read

about your successes!

Thats wonderful for him!! 166 is still a little high but for a diabetic it is

really good!! I have never had a reading in the 300s or higher so I always

assumed I wasn't a brittle diabetic, as a matter of fact from the time I was

14-35 I never really dieted or did meds, My sugars were great except when I

was preg. Then they would go up. As you get older they get worse. I think

this diet really works for me because I am not as severe as some. My Dr says

I was probably getting high sugars cause of my weight and If I lost the

wieght they were go down. So far he is right!!

If your strip is turning colors then you are in Ketosis and you are losing

weight, Any color is good. THe only one you have to worry about is the

darkest one, If you reach that it means your not getting enough water and you

should drink more.

I am 5'3 I've been on atkins since the end of April in all it has

been almost 4 months this thrusday, yes all was done with Atkins. I

started this list for support for myself the week I started and, look

how we've grown lol. If you have any questions please dont hesitate

In response to diabetics I put my father on this who was useing pills

he was vey sceptical about this diet, but he didnt want to start

insulin so he tried it in 2 weeks his sugars went from 240 to a

average of 166, then his dr put him on sugar busters, his levels sky

rocketed needless to say he came back to Atkins sugar is back down

and has lost 3 lbs in the last week. Sue 310/264/175
