Guest guest
Hi Rita, for some reason, the response for the party has died down, so I may be forced to postpone it! That would be a shame, because I have everything ready! I guess the other option is to invite people in after they are finished at the party and fireworks at city hall. Guest guest
, Did you also wonder why the " moose " might have been wearing a bell? Is that how you managed to find it in the woods? Now, seriously, many years ago in Oklahoma a friend on mine had a fairly good sized herd of Herefords. When hunting season came around he really did paint the word " cow " on the sides of several of him animals hoping that the hunters would come to and realize that these were not deer. He did lose several of his cattle over the years to hunters. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: low carb chops OOOOOpps!!!! did you say dairy cow? No, No, it couldn't be, this is a bull, and it has horns!!! Guest guest
, Did you also wonder why the " moose " might have been wearing a bell? Is that how you managed to find it in the woods? Now, seriously, many years ago in Oklahoma a friend on mine had a fairly good sized herd of Herefords. When hunting season came around he really did paint the word " cow " on the sides of several of him animals hoping that the hunters would come to and realize that these were not deer. He did lose several of his cattle over the years to hunters. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: low carb chops OOOOOpps!!!! did you say dairy cow? No, No, it couldn't be, this is a bull, and it has horns!!! It looks all black to me!! Guest guest
, We are already on our way. I am bringing my own pots and spices for the chili. How cold is it there? I will be cooking on my propane stove so will I need to bring along a wind break? Now, as to your comments about cows not having horns. My friend, I don't quite know how to tell you on this list but the horns are not the way you tell the difference between a cow and a bull. Oh well, whatever, I will just risk it and tell you anyway. The bulls are the ones with the wider distance between their eyes. Cows tend to have narrower heads so you will need to take your tape measure along to be sure.... Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Rita, When I was much younger I did work around livestock a lot. My grandfathers both ran cattle and we used to have to round them up for some annual vaccinations and the branding of the younger ones. Once upon a time one of my citified cousins was there and going on and on about how much he knew about cows, bulls, birds and bees and so on. We bet him he couldn't even milk a cow. He was pretty sure we were not going to milk right then so he said he had milked lots of cows. As the cattle were milling about in the holding pen we pointed out a large bovine and told him to prove it by milking that cow - yup, the one right over there- yes, that one, the big one. He was sorta backed into a corner so he grabbed the bucked and ran over to the specified animal and reached under to grab an utter and see if he could get a little milk in the bucket. You know, that old bull really took a very dim view of being grabbed like that. Cy, the Ancient Okie...
