exactly. GI is not crucial for sugar control it is just a thing to know about.

If you never knew about it that would be perfectly fine as well. All you have to

focus on is total carbs you eat at each meal and keep your 2 hour post meal test

120 or less. In canada, 6.6 or less 2 hours past eating a meal. If your sugar is

not 120 or less 2 hours past eating a meal, that means you ate to many carbs at

that meal and limit them more.

It is that simpel... 2 hours past eating a meal 120 or less and your a1c will be

between 5.0 to 5.5 which is a normal range for a non diabetic.

April is who I reply to this message.

And yes I am on other list.

the sad thing for me is,

I was told I could be a diabetic but it might as well go out the window.

Because now that I am trying to find another doctor and say this could be a

problem for me I am ignored.

Until February twenty eight.

I feel fine but it just takes me by surprise how folks are treated.

The only thing I could see the Glusemic Index would possibly buy one is

knowing how fast the sugar will hit.

This actually does have a useful purpose for some non-Diabetics, those

who suffer from ADD or ADHD.

Many of these folks (children particularly) have a real problem with

their behavior when they get a sugar rush.

Want to see some real action? Just give your ADHD youngster a glass of

Kool Ade with lots of sugar and some Red 40 dye.

yes, I agree with what you are saying. the GI is very useful for various things

but to control diabetic sugars, it is not essential but it is useful knowledge.

the sweet potato is better, but neither is real good for you!

Re: Just don't have any ideas re what to eat

and what not to eat!

so the difference between the reg. potato and sweet potato is that the sweet

one is ok for you? or is it the reg. one/?

that is confusing for me to follow.and to understand.

You did a pretty good job there Cy! As we have previously stated " don't eat

anything that is white " !

Just don't have any ideas re what to eat and

what not to eat!

I am a relatively new type 2 diabetic. I am getting used to what to eat

with one acception and that is how do I differencia between 30 carbs of

say 2 pieces of brown bread, and that of say, 30 carbs of chocolate? I

mean I don't understand how the chocolate can differ to that of bread

....after all, they're both only 30 carbs each right? I suspect that

the chocolate is sugar loaded and the bread is not loaded with this

direct sugar gotten from the choclate! I thought that if I watched only

my carbs in general, I'd be alright but now as I said, suspect that the

direct sugar is much more dangerous than the bread example. Cy, or

anone else please comment on my delema...would appreciate it a lot. Ken
