Guest guest
quick acting carbs are: * bread * rice * potatoes * milk or yogurt * juice or fruit * candy * starchy veggies like corn, peas, lima beans, etc. * pretty much anything white low carb alternatives are * olives * cucumbers * green beans * salad * cheese * any meat * nuts to name a few. You are not removing all quick acting carbs from your diet, you are limiting them to 30 grams a meal. A total of 90 per day. This is considered *moderate* carbing, not low carbing. We are not atkins around here... low carbing means only 30 a day which is ridiculous! Guest guest
Your dietician advisor for diabetics is either grossly misinformed or grossly ignorant, and you can tell him I said so. Test his knowledge and ask him what does insulin work on. If he says on all foods, then dump him straight way. If he says only carbohydrates, then give him a gold star and then ask him what does insulin do. If he does not know that insulin is a storage hormone that works primarily on helping you convert carbohydrates into a simpler sugar like glucose that is then either used or converted into fat, then he still doesn't know what he is talking about. I fear he is giving you the advice of the ADA American Diabetes Association, which is a killer for diabetics, and I literally mean what I say. uyeast infection > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > Hello > > >> > > > I know this is not a cool topic, but I guess it's > common > in > > >> > females, > > >> > or > > >> > > do males get too? > > >> > > > and how can it be controlled? > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > - > - > > >> > > ---- > > >> > > >
Guest guest
Ken, I have to agree with Harry. There is something grossly wrong with the advice your dietician is giving you. I have seen the results which have come from the advice given on this list and I have to tell you, it flat works. As , Pat and others have said, count them carbs and take that two hour post meal reading so you can get a handle on what is doing what for you. If you have 30 grams of carbs for a meal and then your two hour post meal reading is 120 or less than you are probably doing very well. If your two hour post meal reading is quite a bit higher then you need to make some adjustments on something - like real soon. From what I have seen (oops, sorry I forgot you use a different scale so I suppose you divide the 120 by 20?) you are seemingly on the right track. Just nail it down so you really know what is going on and then you will be in complete control. I, like you, am struggling to get a handle on all of the ins and outs of this thing called Diabetes so I guess we can all just learn together... Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: Just don't have any ideas re what to eat and what not to eat! Your dietician advisor for diabetics is either grossly misinformed or grossly ignorant, and you can tell him I said so. Guest guest
Oh, Ken It's not you that's not getting it-it's the dietician! Unless you are a really physically active guy, then you would need more carbs. Re: Just don't have any ideas re what to eat and what not to eat! that's what I wanted to know also. So this high *refined sugars* count showing up throughout the day is a result of eating either rrefined sugar processed, or at least refined white floured food right? interesting. I'm getting the feel of what is right and what is not. I guess I'll have to lookup some salads to make. I find that I eat too many sandwiches using brown bread as I'm realizing that even a lot of brown bread would be determently correct? I have good solid lunches and suppers, consysting of 75 carbs but as I said, using brown bread or wholewheats on a steady leverl is not good using them on a long term basis. Guest guest
Hi, ken Well, your BMI is probably pretty good, so you might need more carbs than 30 a meal if you are active; but the ultimatr goal is to keep your sugars under 6.0 2 hours after meals, so you wil have to experiment.
