Mycoplasma and silicone antibodies are blood tests . . . I don't know how they test for Candida, because there are so many organisms in that category. There is an antibiotic protocol for Mycoplasma . . . Do a web search for "mycoplasma bacteria Garth Nicolson" With silicone antibodies, you would want to eliminate anything silicone from your environment/diet . .. and NO silicone implants of any type. Candida can be treated with medication, or with diet and supplements. Read The Yeast Connection" Rogene

I was tested for Candida via a urine test - something called an

Organic Acids Test (or OAT). I tested positive for mycoplasma and

negative for silicone in blood tests, although the mycoplasma could

have shown up because I've had pneumonia a few times (when I was a

child).

Carol,

You are one energetic woman....ye gads your schedule is quite

full....do you carry a bullet around to bite down on when the pain of

standing and moving around gets to be too much?

I hope you are able to get this last study done...if not...can you

schedule one up in UCSF just before your appt or does that defeat the

purpose? I know you would like the doc to have all your results as

soon as possible so she can evaluate them...but what other choices do

you have? Is there any other doctor in your genereal area that could

do it?

I will be sending all my energy your way in the hopes that it helps

get that machine fixed like yesterday!

Take Care, Cam

I'm not energetic at all--I'm usually a snail....don't do much at

all, but when it comes to my kids, I have to go see what they're

doing. Believe me, I usually pay for it afterward. I had a migraine

Friday, and had to take the pill and sleep for two hours before I

could go to the football game and today I woke up with a headache

(not sure if it's a migraine) and waiting for my car to come home (16

yr old driving now!) so we can go grocery shopping this afternoon.

I'm really sore today and I'm sure the headache means

something.........If it doesn't go away by evening, I'm taking the

migraine pill and going to bed to sleep it off.

Tomorrow (Mon) I'm going to try to get a hold of Ann, Dr. Hu's

assistant to discuss the app't. I really cannot go any other day.

It's the only day in Oct. and Nov. my husband can take me up there.

I'm sure it's too late to get into another Urologist around here. The

idea about getting the Urodynamic test done at UCSF is a possibility--

-I'll have to ask Ann about it when I talk to her. I also have to

make arrangements for spending the night Sunday, and don't want to

wait too long to do that. I hate all these doctor app'ts. I've been

trying to avoid doctors as much as I can the past several years

because it gets so overwhelming. I just hope that I can get the

surgery covered by my insurance. My husband gets a new insurance on

Jan. 1, and I don't know if it would be my OLD insurance or the NEW

insurance covering the surgery? Does anyone have any idea, or run

into this issue before? Someone at my work said because I've started

the process under the OLD insurance, the OLD one would have to pay

for the surgery, but I don't know....

Carol,

I hope your migrane subsided. I guess all you can do is take these

tests once step at a time. Hopefully DrHu's asst will have some

recommendation about getting them done in time. Maybe they can even

call down and shake up things at the office where you are having

trouble.

I don't know about your insurance question....but I would be pretty

surprised if the old company covered you for surgery when you are no

longer paying premiums...

I think it might be wise to call whoever is in charge of Human

Resources/Health Ins. at your husbands place of employment and see

what they have to say. You surely will want to have this questioned

pinned down sooner rather than later.

Good luck!

Trudy - I have a suggestion for you - ask your PCP office to give you a copy of

your lab results. You will probably have had many other lab tests besides the

ones you mentioned. It tells you right on the result sheet what the normal

limits are. Lilian

Hi Trudy!

The tests I have done most of the time that are

elevated are: ESR (sed rate), CRP (C Reactive Protein)

CCP and Westgren..if this helps:)

Oh by the way, I said I can afford that doctor without insurance.....big

Amazon does not handle many peer reviewed books. That ought to be a clue.

I think your dose is too high, and you need to cut back. How's that?

Since you already seemed to be concluding that, I was reluctant to be

redundant.

The fact that a book has foot notes or end notes does not mean it has

been reviewed. A book without them still might be, although most

scholarly works are based on citations.

I truely thank you, Chuck. You're right I have thought I may be taking too much

but only

Sounds like it could be rheumatoid factor (RF) or possibly anti-CCP, Trudy.

Unfortunately, there are no standard ranges for normal. It depends on the

lab and the specific test used.

Not an MD

Gracia,

As the saying goes " too much of anything is not good. " Normal for total t3 is

60 - 181

ng/dl. Mine is 403. That cannot be good. I would think it would show up some

way. It

just hasn't yet. Although today I am having some weezing going on. Don't know

if it is

related to my sulfite sensitivity or what. I know t3 total is different from

Ft3 but I don't

know what the difference is. If someone can tell me, that would be helpful.

Gracia, do you

know what you t3 total is? Also, if my ft4 is only 1.8, why is my t3 total so

high? My Ft4

has not changed since July. Yet, my TSH and T3 total are changing. Don't know

if any of

this makes sense....just have questions.

I thought it was high FT3, way out of range. Presumably that was causing

the unmeasurably low TSH, which several longitudinal studies have shown

is associated with cardiovascular problems and osteoporosis. A spike in

FT3 is probably not harmful, except that it drives down TSH more than a

high average FT3 would.

Venizia,

The free fraction depends on the efficiency of thyroid globulin and

albumen (and another protein I can't remember) in binding them. These

SHOULD affect T4 and T3 the same way, so the ratios should be the same,

FT4/T4 = FT3/T3. The fact that your T4 is normal but T3 is high suggests

that you are simply taking too much. That agrees with the fact that TSH

is too low to measure. Just shave your dosage a bit.

Contrary to what Gracia suggests, you can feel just dandy and still be

causing cardiac damage and bone loss. It is a serious enough issue that

you should retest rather than risk letting hyperT go on for months when

it can do real damage. You should still feel good with a TSH around 0.3

instead of zero. The problem with " zero " is that you can't tell how bad

it really is.
