Oops! Then, you are somewhat hyperT, and that could be the cause of the

palps, especially in combination with the other conditions you are

treating. Shaving your dosage a bit should help.

Thanks Chuck. I have to admit I am very confused at

this point. I haven't been on groups, especially this

group for very long and all I know is that sometime in

my 20s I was given a blood test as part of a checkup,

and told I was hypothyroid.

At the time of the Afib incidents, the TSH, which is

all they tested was <,01. At the time I was taking

2-1/2 grains of Thyrolar. I knocked it down to 2

immediately, but my doctor wanted it down to 1-1/2. I

did that and then had this test done 8/21 with the

results we've been discussing. Now my doctor says to

go back to 2 grains per day, and was a bit annoyed

when I said I've only been taking 2 grains twice a

week since 2 weeks ago. I was afraid of shocking my

body into another episode.

How do I know when it's appropriate to go up or down?

Roni,

T3 based medications need to be taken VERY regularly, due to the short

biological half life of T3, about a day, depending on things such as

activity levels. Taking two twice per week (and none on the other days)

is about the worst pattern to use. You get the same T3 spike on days

when you take it as if taking two every day (potentially inducing

palps), but in between, T3 disappears and your T4 drops off enough to

feel the low end of the cycle. Alternating two and three to get an

average of two and a half per day at least guarantees you two each day.

With your current tests and palps, I would strongly question a

prescription to increase the daily dose. Get a second opinion.

How to gage it? Some on the list will tell you to just go with how you

feel. Unfortunately, you can still do real damage while feeling just

great. I would suggest calibrating how you feel against occasional tests

to make sure you are within safe limits. A TSH of 0.01 is not safe.

Also, blood levels of T4 and TSH adjust VERY slowly to changing dosages.

You need to stay on one level at least six weeks before testing,

assuming you don't have adverse reactions that would compel an earlier

change.

are you talking about heart palps?

heart palps=A-fib?

my heart palps were caused by not enough thyroid meds, low cortisol and low

estrogen.

Gracia

Venizia,

You wrote:

>

Very slightly. Note that her reference range is different. The bottom

she gave was 0.03, in which case, 0.011 is not very low. However, if

that was a typo, and the real range was more like 0.3 - 5, then yes,

that could be causing palpitations. None of the thyroxine levels seemed

consistent with hyperT, since they were all within the range cited.

Atrial fibrillation can be caused by diseased valves, hypertension,

coronary artery disease, alcohol use, pericarditis, cardiac surgery,

heart failure, and lots of other heart disorders, including electrolyte

imbalance, in addition to hyperT. The hyperT has to be fairly

pronounced, though, unless it is combined with one or more of those

other causes.

thyroid patients are taking 50 MG iodine/iodide daily.

cancer pateitns are taking 100 MG daily.

Gracia

I'm not exactly sure about the " correct heart rate "

I think it varies from person to person and to what is

going on.

I discovered that there is some iodine in my multi

pill, so I'm getting 150 mcg in that, plus whatever

salt I do consume, and I'm sure it's not miniscule, as

I do like it. In addition there is sodium in meat and

other natural foods, so I'm getting some there too.

" Heart palps " is a broad umbrella. Atrial fibrillation is one type, one

of several possible causes of palpitations, one that can be associated

with hyperT but also a host of other conditions.

on my father's side (Spanish/Panamanian), many of them married first cousins.

I don't believe we have any geniuses in our family......well maybe when it comes

and maybe art. I do have to say we are a very close family though. :)

Lynn ~

Silicone causes all kinds of weird things......part of it

has to do with the proteins your body puts all over

the surface of them.....I wonder if the steroids were

stuck there cuz it was stuck to the silicone shell and

or proteins....I was washed with that dayumn steroid

2 times I remember white chunks getting stuck in my

tubes all the time both times ! ! Nasty.......sorry you

had that done to you as well.

My ANA has always been normal range.....high normal.

I have had all but one symptom for lupus since the early 90's

My g-mother had lupus. My dbl str dna was positive and so

was my dna titer. but only as of 2 years ago. My docs

say i have nonserology lupus. some say they question weather

i have lupus or not, my neurologist told me I had chemically (silicone)

stimulated lupus. So, who the H & *%$ knows...... Dont let what

doctors say take hold of you. I did for years, and it dictated my life

that is why I am so adament about not letting that happen to you.

Having all those chemicals in you for all those years on top of

foreign body reaction for all those years altered your entire being.

From cell to cell to your emotional self. It will take time for all your

cells to replace themselves with good healthy ones, and for your body

to repair itself. Use your tests as guidelines on how well you are

doing at detoxing and healthy eating....... and if you need to work

harder, or try something different, you will know.

I would bet with time, your tests will make you smile ~

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving !

Hello ~

I am sorry your MIL is having such a hard time.

I asked Dad if he wanted me to shave my head...

I was hoping he would say no, and he did.....lol.

Right now, mine is at my butt....but sort of thin, so

before I cut it for locks of love I need 20 inches more

than I want left when it is cut.

I think I am gonna get us some dew rags......

help keep his head warm.......

I hope your MIL gets to feeling better. I am so

Lynn,

Normal? Some do it, but against the recommendations of the

manufacturers. It is not uncommon to find that they did this, however.

Lynn,

I am sure it discolored the implants. Some

doctors put antibiotics in the saline to help

prevent infection, also against the manufacturers recommendations.

They never informed any women that I am aware

of. They just assumed they knew what was best for us.

Sounds a lot like mine. My mother-in-law was very happy to have us there and that is what mattered most. She is struggling with the fact she is now bald - darn chemo. She needs to start radiation but they won't until the skin where her port was has healed. I fear she has a hematoma there, it is huge and hard and drains blood crap all the time. She refuses to call the doctor but has an appointment on Monday. I think they will need to drain it but who knows, I am by far not a doctor.

She just misses my father-in-law so much. I know she wishes sometimes that she was with him.

Love you too! Lynn

An ANA of 40 is borderline high, and usually not something to worry

about, now 160 is something to be concerned about and so are some of

the other parameters, like speckled, etc.

I see him on the 20th. I will have repeat labs then. I hope and pray, and pray, and pray, and pray that everything has gone down. I don't care if it is normal, I just don't want it to go up. But if it does, I will keep detoxing and try not to let the numbers bother me or define who I am. Again, I am putting it in the Lord's hands.

Sorry to hear you have such a hectic weekend. You'll need to rest us so you don't get ill. Lynn

My ANA was 1:160 & then a few months later 1:320. It is speckled. The Double Strand DNA was 40. Lynn

Dede,

I have a bone scan I think next week or the week after that - it is on my calendar at work. Due to the amount of Depoluprons I have had my gyno thought it was a good idea to get a scan. I will let you know what it says. Lynn

Re: Tests

Lynn ~

It angers me too. Steroids can cause osteoporosis, and I

was diagnosed at age 43 with it. Last bone density was this

past January, and I still have it pretty bad. I have upped my

magnesium and calcium and D, so hopefully it will make a

difference in time. Love Dede
