Hi Everyone,

I really enjoy this group it is so helpful and you all answer so many of

my questions just by reading the post. I was curious about something. Why do

people in the transformation pictures hold a newspaper? Can anyone tell me

why?

The people in the transformation photos that hold a

newspaper do so with the intent on showing valid proof

of the twelve week period. As far as entering a

challenge, the " rule book " says it is not necessary.

I, at first thought this made sense, given the time

period between entering a challenge and having your

forms turned in, however, after thinking it over, it

seems very possible, if not probable, that one could

fake a transformation period. All one would need to

do is take photos much earlier than the time of entry,

not many cameras use dates, and then use his/her

finishing photo. It could be twelve weeks, but then

again, it could be a year. So, after all that, I

personally think they should have kept the " newspaper "

in the rule books.

Donna,

The best way to find old posts are to go to http://escribe.com and search for

Upsndowns. Then put in a search word and things will come up.

It's best that they ignore this behavior. It takes tons of patience from the

caregivers (home and teachers), but ignoring works well. I'd ask the school to

bring in a behavioral specialist.

Re: Question

Recently there was a discussion about the stop, drop & flop. suddenly

started it yesterday & of course the school is making a huge issue of it.

It's a safety hazard, etc. Isn't there a way I can look at the old posts at

?

Thanks,

Donna

I requested an Independent FBA 2 wks. ago. Haven't heard back, so I plan to

write my 2nd letter tomorrow. Having major problems. They can't ignore

anything. 's under a giant microscope these days. We already had a

behavior plan written by the psych, but they don't follow it. I also just sent

several complaints into the state. We've had issues now for 2 1/2 years, ever

since the present spec. ed support teacher started working with her. I've been

real nice, but now I've had it!!!

Hi,

Im off on a jungle trip within the next 5 weeks, secondary jungle environment

with a lot of people who havent been before, I was wondering if anyone has

carried out any effective treatment protocols for Malaria in the last 6 months.

Im visiting C America. Im taking Malarone and nivaquine as first line with

fluids and casevac to Miami, I was just wondering if anyone could give me any

advice as regard to their experience in this area, I have used the Malpac whilst

in the Military and found it rather beneficial, however it only works during

spiking temps. Any advice would be more than appreciated

Geordie,

I am no malaria expert nor have I been to C. America. I have limited

experience in Africa specifically Equatorial Guinea. The malaria in this

area is Chloroquine resistant and mostly the PF version. Treatments that we

use depends on a number of factors including: -

what if any prophylaxis is being taken, Allergy status (esp sulfonamides),

clinical condition (are they well enough to take anything by mouth?) and

past medical history.

That said most people get treated with Fansidar which is a combination of

Sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine. the dose is three tablets stat (beware sulfa

drugs allergy). We may follow this up with Doxycycline (vibramycine) 100mg

twice a day but normally we have got rid of them by this point.

Dia med do a handy rapid malaria diagnostic test. It is called Optimal - IT

(the IT meaning individual test - if you get the standard one you get a box

of bits and pieces for about 50 tests that you have to put together). The IT

version is very user friendly, it is packaged in a foil pouch and is about

the size of a candy / chocolate bar. It contains all you need to do the test

except gloves for yourself and a dressing for the finger that you have just

stabbed. Reading the test is just a question of counting the number of black

lines and it

diferentiates whether FP is present or not. You can even seal the slide to

send with the patient. The one down side for you is that it is meant to be

kept between 2 and 30 degrees C, although how stable it is outside these

temperatures I do not know. The web address is www.diamed.ch/optimal and no

I am not on comission or connected to the company.

Hope it all works out OK and that you have a good trip

Hi Geordie,

Hope you are well.

Would avoid nivaquine as chloroquine is really only for prophylaxis.

Would use quinine

or mefloquine

or Malarone® (proguanil with atovaquone)

Also need to watch blood glucose as tends to plummet. Also watch ECG strip as

potassium starts boucning all over the place with haemolysis, usually up - watch

your T waves as a guide - may need to give glucose and insulin to bring

potassium down or calcium chloride.

As Gareth says, the little testing kits are great and really accurate compared

to the old smears.

And beware of mimicing - have lost count of the subarach haemorrhages who did

not respond to malaria treatment!!

Will dig for some more info from some of the more current chaps.

Cheers

Anton

, what does the other kids do in the school who don't go on the field

trips? I'm sure there are some students who don't attend field trips

disabled or not. Some might not have the money or some parents just don't

want the kid to go. Maybe these kids stay in another class for the day? I

agree with you. If you feel the trip is not appropriate for her and she

doesn't need to be around the 4-5 year olds, don't let her go.

When our school does Stanford Testing, Maverick goes to a kindergarten class

(the teacher was his 1st grade teacher) and is a teachers aide. He helps

organize papers and manipulatives and really loves his " helping " role. He

gets to see the teacher and he feels superior to the little ones.

Maybe Bridget would enjoy doing something like that?

They must provide the services for her that are called for in her IEP if

you do not agree to send her on the field trip. Someone must act as her

teacher for the day or time the class is gone.

What does your school do with other students that do not go on field trips?

They probably send them with another class that is remaining in school.

I made a salt scrub with Morton's Kosher salt, the salt crystals were too

sharp - it hurt when we used it. I made the next batch with sea salt (looks

like table salt), it's much nicer. I'd like to use a bigger grain, but it

needs to be less " flaky " than Morton's Kosher. Next batch I make I'll be

looking for something else to try.

question

I live in Virginia and was wondering if anyone knows of a place

within Hampton Roads I might be able to buy a larger supply (50) of

small plastic bottles to put a salt scrub in? I don't have time to

order any.

Also, I just read a post on people using the Morton's Kosher salt

and the one from Sam's Club do those really work? Always, wondered,

but never had the nerve to try it. Would appreciate any help.

Hi Sunshine,

My daughter is 12 and has asthma, she has been doing LifeLift for several

years. We tried the other styles of breathing first before finding Life

Lift and they induced her asthma because of their harshness.

Barbara, first off... how big was the batch of soap you made? That will

help to to know.

question

I have finally made a batch of CP milk soap and added

1.5 oz of essential oil and was not overwhelmed

by level of the fragrance. I was wondering if any of

you can recommend some essential or fragrant oils

(with an herbal or fresh scent) that really will cause

the scent to linger after a shower with a CP soap.

Also any recommendations for how many ounces to add?

Thanks so much.

Barbara, I think you used too little EO. Try bumping it up to about 2-2.5

oz of EO for a 4 pound batch. Of course a little less for eo's such as

peppermint and cinnamon.

Hi ,

Absolutely just the breathing will help the stomach muscles. I have most of

the tapes but alot of the time I put in the commuter/computer and just do the

breaths with that. I can really feel it in my tummy muscles the next day.

You will love LL. I did oxycise and bodyflex too and just didn't like either

one. With BF I hurt all the time in my shoulders and I never could catch on to

Oxycise. When I found LL and did it for a week or so I was amazed that my

shoulders didn't hurt. I have been doing it now for almost 4 years and cannot

imagine not doing it.

Best of luck,

Hi,

I finally got my lifelift tape and watched it yesterday. I did a few of the

breaths this morning in the shower and was wondering if by just doing the

breaths doesn't that help the whole stomach area?

I did Body Flex and Oxycise a while back and both hurt my back so I'm taking

it very easy and working up to the 40 breaths. I want to do the whole body work

out but right now I'm targeting my stomach....so doing the breaths will help

that area, right? Even if it's only five to start with?

Thanks,

Hi ,

Have you found it to help with your weight and all? I keep thinking it's

almost too good to be true. I know of two people who really found Body Flex

to be of help and an equall number who didn't get any benefit at all. I'm

hoping.....

HI ,

What LL has mostly done for me is to make and keep me firm. I have alot of

trouble losing weight because I have thyroid problems but only have about 10 lbs

to lose and am able to keep my weight fairly level with LL despite my thyroid.

I hope to get my thyroid working again and think I am on the right track so I

hope to be able to lose that last 10. I can say that I am in the best physical

shape I have been in since I was in my thirties. I am now 54 and feel so much

better it is unbelievable. Lifelift can give you the body you want without alot

of stress and huffing and puffing. Have you watched the tape? Do you have the

one with the facelift? I really love that. I have been able to keep my chin

firm and feel like it has helped my face look younger.

Good luck, and let me know if I can be of any help to you.
