Guest guest
SuZie, I’m glad you’re getting some help and some company. Did you take your lactulose yet? Love, De [Norton AntiSpam] Hello All Hello All, I know it seems I've been gone for a while but I was just lurking. I've been feeling kind of depressed lately & when I'm depressed I withdraw. I have been reading all of the posts tho' & now it's my turn to bring you up to date. Prepare yourself for a long post. I've been having trouble remembering to take my lactulose (yech) & when I told my doctor - had to tell her, my ammonia wasn't coming down - she referred me to a thing called the CCAC - Community Care Access something or other. They've been sending a nurse over to take my blood pressure & pulse & ask me if I've taken my lactulose. I'm starting to remember & I'm feeling a lot better. They're also sending an occupational therapist by once a week to help me wash my hair & do a little house cleaning. It's nice to have some help. My garden is finally tilled & manured & planted We've had quite a bit of rain so you can practically see the corn grow. The people from the Community Gardens are all so nice. They're building me a big composter out back & trim the stuff that's growing over my fence from next door & mow my lawn & are all so happy I gave them the place to plant. They keep thanking me but I think I got the best of the bargain - I'll never have to mow the lawn as long as they're around ! SpYke has some new friends. First there was the nice black & white kitty .Now there's a young Siamese male - can't be more than a year old - who likes to come by & talk through the kitchen window or the front screen door. He's cute but not as cute as Sir SpYke the Fuzzy. Some people moved into the house at the corner with the cutest little dog Her name is Lady & she's part Shi'tzu & part Bichon Fris. SpYke can't figure out what she is. He sits & stares at her then sniffs around then looks at her again before giving me a " Smells like a dog but it's smaller than ME " look. He's very confused but she just wants to play. The first time the gardens people came over they had three small girls with them SpYke was on his leash in the back yard & they had a great time playing with them. He's good with kids - my SpYke. They came back the next day & I had three kids knocking on my door asking if SpYke could come out to play!!! I still have trouble believing it. Time to end this thing before I bore everyone to sleep - better than Sominex I am. Guest guest
Hi Ya Suzie Q Honey so happy to hear from you and that you are getting help around the house and someone coming in to check on you and if you took your meds. High ammonia levels puts us in our own La La Land and we even lose track of time and place. We do understand and we reach stages where we do become quiet and unable to be as active online with others. But we still have the love and support of our online family and more when we need it. We may become quiet but we are never forgotten and remain connected in each others hearts. Toots post to your hearts content cause we love hearing from you. Love and Hugs. Guest guest
Hi SuZie! What a great post! I'm really happy to see that things are going in a positive direction for you! I moved into my new place but not totally. I've been slowly moving my stuff out of storage as the temperature permits. The heat really knocks me out. At least my new place has central air. The AC in my truck needs to be recharged but I won't be able to afford that until Sept. it looks. I got a cable modem last week and I've been going through 2400 unread emails so far I'm down to 949 left. I've been pretty busy doing some of my handyman work on the side. I actually got a computer job I did for someone too! The extra money has really come in handy. I've also been volunteering at the Atlanta Harm Reduction Center. I did some free Hep C testing last month and now I'm giving out the results and counseling the folks. Out of 33 tests 11 came back positive. I'm working on starting a support group there which I hope to have running in a couple weeks. I just got my 9 tubes of blood taken yesterday so when the results come back it's off to the Hepatologist. It's time for another MRI I think to check for HCC. I finally got my regular Doc to give me a referral to a pain management Doc. and hopefully I'll get a script for hydromorphone or morphine as they're the only 2 that really work for me and I can function on either one of them. I'm not concerned about any habit forming issues as I already take 4 meds that I would have to be detoxed off. Hmmmm......maybe I can get a nurse to come over and take care of me too. Or least a chick in a nurse's outfit LOL. Hang in you sound great! Allan with 2 L's so hot today I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walking. Guest guest
Hi Allan, Glad to hear from you, I've been worried, you've been silent for too long. Sorry to tell you this but the nurses wear street clothes not uniforms - so sorry. I'm very happy about the garden,, they're already setting things up for next summer!Gonna have some raised beds for people with arthritis etc. I like sharing my space with them - they're so nice & NORMAL. It's good to forget about the HCV even for a little while & SpYke seems to enjoy the kids - who'd have thunk it - SpYke & KIDS!! He's lying on the floor right now, waiting for me to deliver his food, he's too pooped to go get it himself. I don't care, I don't do deliveries. Oh my - he just rolled over - first time he's moved in over an hour Good luck with your pain management appointment. I was all crippled up with back pain a few weeks ago & got a couple of oxys to last me til my doctor's appointment then got shit from the doc for taking them - extremely liver unfriendly. She said ice then heat, it was a muscle spasm.Felt more like my back was broken. I couldn't sleep cause every time I rolled over I woke up groaning. SuZie & SpYke. Guest guest
Hello . Welcome to CAST. Please go to the FILES section of this group and read " Using Growth as a corrective force in the early treatmemt of progressive infantile scoliosis. " This will explain to you the principles behind early treatment. It seems that little Jessie has a progressive curve, and the odds of a brace correcting or even maintaining a very aggressive, progressive curve, isn't likely. The doctor should be very concerned with this rapid increase of curvature. Once Jessies curve progresses past 50, and his rate of growth has slowed, early treatment with serial corrective plaster casting will be less effective, and probably wont be an option. Infants with progressive infantile scoliosis must be treated immediately, if they have a chance at correction. 5 years ago, early treatment wasnt available in this country, and thats why most docs are unfamiliar with it. If I can provide you more info to present to Jessies doc, please let me know. Lets educate him! HRH Hello All Hello all, Im Wittler. Most of you know my Fiance, Jackie, also known here as buckijackie. I know she has told you all about my son Jessie. Sorry it took me so long to get a membership here with you all. Just had a lot on my mind. But I do want to thank you all for giving Jackie all that useful information. Right now, a lot of this is really confusing to me. Especailly when she said that Jessie has learned how to undo his own brace and that it made it go from 20.4 degrees to 40 something degrees and yet the doctor isnt concerned about it. They said they would do another xray in september. Im sorry, but something ont hat does not seem right ot me. unless they are planning on surgery or something and doing this on purpose. But I just cant see why a paretn would do soemthing like this to their kid on purpose. Jessie is a very bright young boy, a beautiful child. He is very smart as well. He can learn quickly, if you take just a few moments to teach him and work with him. Which I am sure Jackie has told all of you this. But again I thank you all for your kind words and support. Now that I am a member, I will as well keep you all up to date on what is going on. And just as you all have emailed jackie, feel free at anytime to email me. Again, thank you all for your input, advice, and kind words.
Guest guest
Well see heather, problem is, I cant convince my ex to do the Cereal casting for nothing. It is my firm belief that she wants to get surgery done. I cant figure any other reason why she wouldn't push for the casting and wouldn't ask why they arent concerned about this difference with him doing it. Personally, I owuld think a child would just take it off, not just loosen it up. To me that makes about as much sense as the dr. not being concerned. Which like I said, is my firm belief that they want to do surgery. I have been trying to talk her into getting the cereal casting done for months, but like I said she wont hear of it. I will be contacting medical records tom so I can get the medical records from his dr. by hopefully next week. I dont even know what of this, if any she says, is true. It is back tothe way it was before the final court. Jackie and I having to go through miles of red tape to find out what we need to know. My fear is that she(they) are doing this in hopes of sugery. I know the brace itself will not fix the problem, nor prevent it from getting worse. That is why we tried to get them to go for the other. I will let you all know what is going on when I find out more. > > Hello . > Welcome to CAST. > Please go to the FILES section of this group and read " Using Growth as a corrective force in the early treatmemt of progressive infantile scoliosis. Guest guest
Hello , Welcome to the group. You will find this group very informative and helpful in your endevours. I, too, am a firefighter paramedic from northern california (6 years Santa Cruz City) and I continue to compete in both the California Firefighter Olympics and also the World Fire and Police Games, but have since branched off into remote paramedic work and am presently in the Middle East (Qatar). There is an extremely helpful site http://home.maine.rr.com/lat/offshore.html that should help guide you in the direction you seek. I am comfortable by myself for long periods of time with critical pts and am looking for a way to get work in Iraq. I have lots of trauma experience and work well in team environments. Have lots of rescue training and am comfortable in hazardous envirionments. Any info on how to get picked up by a company over there would be appreciated. Thanks

All this In my case plaid in the balance when I had to chose if I stayed with them .... small things Their is a lesson here For me ? Were they able to figure out anything to explain it or give you any options? When is your next blood test to see if they are coming down?
