hey now! I always make typos, but I usually spell check before it hit send.

I should be home bound for the next 1-2 weeks. 's after school care

provider is coming in the morning to help me get him on the bus. is

hanging out in the Mattcave - I haven't ventured the stairs yet. I haven't

popped a narcotic since I left the hospital, which is very good. I do think

I have an upper respiratory infection now - I have two antibiotics, one of

which should work on the URI as well as the incision sites. Still hurts to

breath deeply and move from a prone to a sitting position. But I'm getting

there.

Tim said I lost 500ml of blood during surgery and two pounds worth of

fibroids that became as large as a basketball. You'd think my tummy would

be alot flatter - just two inches so far around my waist where my belly

button is(yes, I measured before!)and three inches below that area. I

didn't share this before, but my regular GYN said that I could have cancer

since one fibroid grew quickly.and had a GYN Oncologist trained to do

laproscopic surgery do my surgery. I was at work when she called me and had

a special thing going on in court that evening (where politicians -including

congressman, local judges, media and my big boss would be)..I didn't tell

Tim until I got home that night and kept it together for that one event.

That was hard to do, but I did it and tried not to think of the " c " word.

When I saw the surgeon a few days later, she dismissed the cancer

possibility, which put me at ease.

I can't imagine being out of commission for 6 weeks with and my

procedure was done with laproscopy, thank God!. Tim said the surgeon didn't

see any signs of cancer, but I'll know for sure when the lab reports come

back.

But this week I finally get the house to myself during the day. It's rare

that I get this, if I am home, Tim or someone usually is home with me. May

sound silly, but the last time I was home alone, I called off sick without

telling my family I was going to..lol. That was about 8 years ago. Now I

get the whole week.

is in school all year and is gone from 7:45-3:00. He said he is

sick today, you watch and see if he doesn't get to stay home with me

tomorrow..lol!!

WOW I am so sorry I've been absent .......... I've been trying to cheer hubby up

all weekend, his father passed away recently so he and his mom are very sad on

what should be a joyous day.

I like to put out the fires on this list and usually they burn out themselves.

Like what others have said we all come from different walks of life, we are all

in different seasons. What I felt or believed to be true at age 20, 30 even 40

is very different how I feel now.

As far as the " forever child " I have 4 of them .... only Sara is the one with DS

and I'm betting she will always live with me haha looks like my other daughters

might too (whispering this since one of my daughters is on this list) I could

say none of us asked for a child with special needs but then again we have a lot

who have adopted a child or 2 ( lol) but what does it really matter, I'd

like to put my head in the sand and say no one would do it differently because

if I had to admit that someone would then it would sadden me that they don't get

it ..... that we all have been redefined. My life is not easy, yes Sara can do a

lot of independent things but she is also very dependent on her family, yes I've

given up a lot to raise her and her family has had to make sacrifices in her

name but none of this saddens me, the family or Sara ..... what does sadden me

is Sara's father is walking around with an Aorta Aneurysm and has congestive

heart failure .......... talk about losing your life partner, that’s the

ultimate difficulty. Puts life in perspective for me.

Now back to the changes of this thread......... you take it easy, I've

been reading on Facebook that is struggling medically right now

.......... let the Drs do their jobs and you take care of yourself you are a

sister to me girl and I wish I was there to help you and Tim. My prayers are

with you all and I hope feels better soon

Well, we have to figure something out. I'm about to take on the school

district again with Logan.. if we aren't going to stay, I won't fight..

but......

retires either this year or in another year (it's a subject we are debating

right now).. .and then we'll be free to go where we want... so a move is a real

possibility.. but it's COLD in Tennessee!

it's been a strong kick in the .... for the beginning of summer here ... very

humid 90's last week and now this week ugggg we couldn't take Sara to the lake

because of the heat this weekend

Not that my county is perfect BUT being a strong advocate for Sara has helped so

much in the compliance dept here ..... I'm not having to police the system now

and they really seem to enjoy all the new things that I insist on haha

*waves from Denmark, WI* (near Green Bay - you know the " Ice Bowl " green bay).

Some days I curse my ancestors for choosing this of all places to settle!!! But

what did they know, coming from Germany and Denmark!

Ah well, if it wasn't snow, it'd be something - it builds character or something

like that.

You two can have your ice and snow! I am perfectly content to enjoy the soft

breezes off the Gulf of Mexico. The only price we have to pay for this

luxury is the occassional wrath of God. [?][?][?]

The thing about hurricanes is that you know, days in advance, when one is

coming and can get out of the way! and I rode out Ike 200 miles away

in a three-room hotel suite for six weeks, courtesy of FEMA. Most of the

people who dared to stay are dead. Our insurance paid for the repairs to our

home, which was totaled. Not by the wind, but by the water. Have you ever

evacuated for a blizzard?

I'm with you on that one granny!  I lived in St. Louis for a year and Illinois

( was born here) and I was dying to come home to Texas!!  I think the whole

time it was winter in Illinois, I never got warm!  Ike was bad, we didn't have

power for 3 weeks, but I will never move out of Texas again!  I'm looking out my

window in my office and my front yard is brown...poor grass :0(.  Hopefully the

kids (13, 11 and 7) will get in those two kiddie pools today and then we can

dump the water in the yard.  If they do that again, I am so taking pictures and

posting them...two boys laying in a kiddie pool that is smaller than they are,

with their feet and legs hanging off the side...and  squirting both of them

in the face with the water hose...she is such a brat!!

Hi Kathy,

Your part of the world sounds a bit like ours - hot during summer and nice

and cool during winter with the occasional cold.

Trent is also an avid fan of the weather channel - he really doesn't like

it not being on that station, unless he is watching the wrestling or

Simpsons.

This list is for you, Hollie! Just because and I have been lucky

doesn't mean I can't empathize with those who are less fortunate. I've

learned a lot from this list. For example, I've learned that when someone

stares at (which happens often), I put my arms around her and say to

that person, " Isn't she perfect? She is so perfect people are always staring

at her! "

The way you are helping your mother deal with your siblings is heroic. I

admire you for doing so and I bet your mother appreciates it. Your siblings

and your mother are blessed to have you.

I am pro life and I take offense that you categorize it as " used as an

excuse to terrorize people going to a clinic. " A sad misguided view that

attempts to vilify a good group of people. Yes, a few radical weirdo's do

bad things, but there are plenty of wacko terrorizing that goes on with the

pro-abortion groups too. Overall each side works within the law to change

things.

I am sorry, but it's only fair that I can express my opinion.

But I have no inclination to engage in a debate with anyone on this topic,

end of story.

I am pro-choice. I make all my own choices. I didn't know before was

born that he had Down syndrome, I wouldn't do anything different, I had

identical twins and same thing I wouldn't do anything different.

I do agree with you about the " forever child " , some of our children

will be forever children, is 10 but functioning at only a 3 year old

level, he is unable to be potty trained, has an extremely limited

vocabulary, major behavior problems.

mom to 10 (down syndrome, bipolar, severe ADHD, autistic like

tendencies, GERD, asthma, allergies)

Abbey and a identical twins who will be 4 next month

Re: (unknown)

I think that generalizations are easy to hand out like toothbrushes at the

dentist.

Pro-choice is not all about 'killing', 'fear' or 'its my body'. For people

that are openminded, you can look at the other side of the story.

Pro-life is not all about 'life' - its also been used as an excuse to

terrorize people going to a clinic. Again for the openminded, you look for

the other side of the story.

I believe the point was that just because we have a strong association for

those with Down Syndrome and special needs - that we see the gift they

brought to our lives, its not an assumption that everyone on this list can

be painted with the same brush. I didn't watch the video. Right now, I don't

need to.

I have two siblings with Down Syndrome. I was pregnant at one point and had

to discuss the reality of what it might mean if my baby had DS and what that

meant to my husband. I miscarried and we decided it would not have changed

our mind.

However, *I* know how hard every single day is and having a Down Syndrome

sibling who is mentally about 2 1/2, who can dress and feed herself if I set

out the materials is still work. I also know how unhappy she was when my

mother and I weren't able to take care of her. I know the pain all of us

felt, the guilt, the struggle, the loss every time we had to go back to our

normal life. Having a special needs child IS a sacrifice. To make the

judgement that its worth it for EVERYONE is not openminded or realistic.

I gave up a lot of things as did my mother to live the way I live now. If I

was married still, I'm not sure I could. Those of us who are able to care

for our 'forever children' ourselves, with a network of support and enough

funding are very very lucky and blessed.

But while I might show someone my story if they wanted, I could not presume

to judge them if they made a different choice.

I'm not pro life or pro choice. I believe in acknowledging that situations

are different and hard decisions can never be avoided. Life doesn't work

that way.

If you are pro-choice and do NOT have a child with special needs in your

Well, if you lived in IL now, around the St. Louis area, you'd have heat index

of 105 and temps climbing to 100+ through Wed. In addition, you'd be facing the

loss of funding for people with special needs...plus, we rate something like

dead last in best practices for people with special needs. Hey, why are we still

living here/??????

Connie,

Many businesses

have blocking software to keep their employees from doing personal things on

business time. Maybe your company is set up that way.

They just put up a new website so maybe there is a glitch in it. If you still have issues call the 800 number for Medical Alternatives Press on the website.

Oooooh! This is so fascinating! & I tried to order the iodine book and the salt book today on Dr. Brownstein's website, but I couldn't proceed because it wouldn't accept my credit card. And I know there's no issue with my credit card, so I don't know why it wouldn't accept. I'll have to try again. Maybe it was because I was at work - using a network computer? The company might have some kind of block on buying over the company computers? I'll try over home computer. But thank you for the info again. I can't get enough of this great discovery.Best,Connie

Oh, that makes me mad...I wonder if that's why the case manager asked me if I

wanted to institutionalize after she was born?

I was asked if I wanted to give up Alden for adoption.  I was so shocked!  The

lady said, " Why did you hesitate? "  I told her she was nuts!!! I was still

heavily medicated when she asked me, too! No one asked me that question with my

2 previous children!!!  I am still shocked.  The words that are in my mind but I

won't let come out of my mouth would get me kicked off of here.  Kiersten
