Well, no rush. It sounds like a good idea to start

before the weekend. That first night can be a little

rough. Good luck. -dz-

I went ahead and made the request, too, because of the

advice of others. I don't know why dr's never seem to

bring that up. -dz-

That's like somebody asking me about the pain of

childbirth, I'd say... " I don't know what the big deal

is, I didn't feel a thing " ... :) -dz-

No, the pain was not related to childbirth. There must

have been something else going on, like indigestion or

something. It says so right here in my manual.

THis follows the simple reasoning that Workers' Comp. proposed and passed a

law stating that a chiropracotr should not treat longer than 12 visits or 30

days whichever is shorter unless a competent physician agrees that more care

is clinically indicated and prescribes accordingly.

The reasoning then concludes that because so few competent physicians agree

that more than 12/30 treatments are indicated that 12/30 is enough care for

chiropractic to be effective.

If chiropracitc care is not effective by that time, it follows that the case

is not appropriate for chiropractic care.

Do they have to draw you a picture?

The neurologist is not competent or qualified to comment on the quantity of

chiropractic care that is appropriate for any condition.

Listmates,

i agree totally. This has been a sore point for me. In the 18 years in

business, I've seen it happen numerous times. I have called insurance

companies and spoken with claims reps to inquire (politely and in a soft

voice) about the doc's credentials. I allude to the problem of practicing

medicine out of scope. I've had good outcomes for payment of treatments

already done, (even tho the IME doc recommended against it), but not for

continued care. I don't know the laws on this. As Dc's we can make decisions

on PT and LMT treatments needed because our scope includes this type of care.

If Neurology doesn't cover manipulative treatment, the patient may have

grounds for contacting an attorney to see if this guy is practicing

chiropractic without proper licensing. Comments from our listserve attorneys?

As much as we dislike it it is not outside the scope of practice for a MD

(with no training in it at all) to do spinal manipulation regardless of what

their specialty is. Thus they are allowed to comment on spinal manipulation

even if it was preformed by a DC and not a MD. They can even practice

acupuncture with needles with no training at all from what I understand

after calling their board. Their board does not recommend it but they can

not stop them from preforming it until there are complaints form patients of

poor outcomes. Thus it is the same for spinal manipulation from what I

understood. If I am wrong or someone knows better please correct me.

Please don't misunderstand I think it is very wrong for them to be

commenting on something they really know nothing about.

Take care all

The normal sed rate for a female is between 0-20, so a

4 or 6 is considered within normal range.

Eckman is a neurologist here in Bend.

I have a Work Comp patient who is going to see him this week, so we'll see.

I remember another neuro here in Bend, now retired, say that Eckman was not

particularly chiro. friendly, that was years ago.

I have not had any other of my patients see him except for unrelated issues.

Anybody else in Central Oregon have any input?

I never really cared for Football until last year...... Now put on a

good title Boxing Match and I'm right there yelling and carrying on....

When I was in Florida I went to a tanning Salon because it rained all

week.... Couldn't come back to Jersey without a tan...Well this guy was

sitting next to me and struck up a conversation about my neck

problems... He told me he had a really bad neck also and was thinking

about surgery.... A big built guy....Just figured he was into lifting

weights.... When he went back to tan, the owner came over to me and

asked if I knew who I was talking to. I said I didn't have a clue......

Well this guy was a pro wrestler named Vampire...(Gangrel) When he came

out I asked him for a autograph for my Grandson and my girlfriends'

son.... I figured he would be gone before I came out so I signed my name

to the bottom of the note.... Well I was still there when he came out

and of course my big mouth came out and said now if you were a Boxer I

would have recognized you in a minute...... Well he and everyone else

cracked up. I am not into wrestling as you can tell..... Well he told

me I was the first person that never fell all over him.. He took my

note and put it in his wallet and told me he now had my autograph, and

would cherish it cause I was for real.... Again I told him if he were a

boxer I would have hounded him for a autograph....... He went out in his

vehice and came back with 8x10 pictures and wrote our names on each

one.... One for me too.... Small world..... Oh!!! I also laid in his

bed.... The tanning bed when he was done.... LOL....

Diane

Eckman is better than he was about DCs. He can be pretty opinionated, but I've been able to work with him in the past.

I just met a REALLY hot one from that office, her name is A. Kori. She is a good doc, took care of my mom, who just had a stroke. I don't know how she feels about Chiropractic, but I'm quite impressed with her. So are all the nurses at St. .

My friend is into that Big Time. and my son is building a big mud truck in

the garage now. He started right from the frame and is building it. He had

a 350 Chevy bored out to a 406 and it will even have nitrous. It will be

all painted up nice and then run in a 3' - 4' deep mud pit. I remember

going to the stock car races on a dirt track with my folks in the 1950s.
