--Hi :-

for those who don't know me I'm , orginally from the boston area

moved to South Carolina about 3 1/2 years ago...

As you may already know, I live in the Boston area!

> Money situation is pretty tight right now, so I probably wont be

making the best choices I could but I am determined to get back on

track..

That makes it especially hard when your food choices have to

take money into consideration

> we have a gym at our new building at work but they want you to take

a fitness test before you can join... so because of that I probably

wont join... I might see if anyone else at work takes the test and

see what its about.. its $15 dollars a month per person and no annual

fee I think thats a good price???

: If there is any way you can get the courage up to take the

fitness test, and if you think you would use the facilities, $15 a

month is a phenomenal price!!!

Keep up the grat work!!!

Thanks everyone,

I haven't been doing as well as I have wanted to but I am not completely off track either. I am more aware of what I am eating and eating less than I was... Right now we are planning our Thanksgiving dinner and what to buy and when... My kids want me to make the pies I made last year... I am going to go through the ingrediants and see what I can do to make it less fattening... We are planning alot of veggies and the usual turkey, stuffing, mac & cheese, potatoes and I gotta having pumpkin pie its just not thanksgiving without pumpkin pie.. atleast to me...

I havent had a chance to check out the gym at work yet.. I probably wont be able to go until after the first of the year when I have more money... but I will do some exercises here some leg lifts and walking and I have tons of dvds, I need to just pop one in and start..

Dear Alley,

Prayers are with you and will continue to be, as you go through your treatment.

Could you have worked and done the cancer treatment, too? Laid off means

unemployment. Not much, but better than nothing. What about insurance?

I don't know if you can do this with the port, but you might try light swimming

for the sciatica. If you're interested, I'll send you my exercise

sheet.......with my personal comments.........TeeHee! You'll really love the

drawings!

I'm not blonde, but lost anyway.......don't know what that says!

Hugs,

Anne

Hi folks :)

Hope your new year is starting off with a bang. Mine certainly is!

In December I got sciatica and doc put me on short term disability. Last

Friday I got an email that I've been laid off at work. Since I haven't been

there a year, I'm not protected by FMLA.

I had my labs for my cancer treatment done last Monday. Tomorrow I go for my

MRI results on the sciatica. Friday I get a port inserted and next Monday I

start the cancer treatment.

Fun year so far!

You've used up all your FMLA? What do you have for income? For how long? How

much longer you gonna be laid up according to your doctors? I mean until you

are completely released to full work? In most cases cancer treatment is

pretty automatic SSDI. At least until treatment is over.

Yes, you can apply for SSDI any time. But someone medical has to say that

they expect that you'll be laid up for the next 12 months. I got my SSDI

this year.

Ok, the deal is....

You can actually qualify for the SSDI without ANY disability determination

from your doctors. My doctors never said I was unable to work. Never said

that I had to be on disability, short or long. But with the many problems I

have, including but not only HCV, I qualified.

It used to be that you HAD to have a doctor say you were disabled for X

period of time. But now the rules or standards have changed, and, although

its easier if you have a doctor prepared to say " No, she won't be able to

work for X period of time " it isn't entirely necessary.

I get my diabetes, together with HCV, together with tx upcoming, together

with the neuropathy and other complications of diabetes, together with

obstructive sleep apnea, and severe depression, no single doctor says I am

disabled, but put it all together and I am for SSDI purposes. If I had

cancer in there, on treatment for it or not, I'd be eligible in a flash,

just putting cancer together with HCV, its there.

Oh, and once you get SSDI they are happy to try to help you find some work

to do, to keep your skills together, and bring in some supplemental income.

You *can* supplement.

Sally's absolutely correct! You go, Girl.....However, with treatment records in

hand, you will be successful. And, yes, you are allowed to supliment your

income. I do. Not by a lot......If you like, I'll look up just how much you

can make. I know for regular SS, but I can't remember the new amount on SSDI.

When I started back in 99, it was 7,000 and change. It may be more now. If you

can do something to suppliment your income (like your writing) that is a self

employment enterprise, remember that the amount is your adjusted gross

income....after you write off your internet, ink, paper, depreciate your

computer, printer, scanner, etc.........don't forget travel, meals, etc.

Hang in there a better day is coming!

Legina do you have the info for WW. Have you ever gone to a meeting? There are some great sites. Do you go to the drs regularly? Try to get a starting point. Maybe go by the last time you weighed at the drs. And strive for being lower next time. As I have said before if you could get a physical and get all the blood work you would have a starting point.

glad to see you made it <GBG> congrats on the loss (see you lost more than your mind this week LOL) that sounds like some workout. kudos. that's no ramble - that was informative :) have a great day and enjoy the gamebrgk44 <brgk44@...> wrote: Hi ladies,Thanks for all the support when my kids were driving me nuts :) Well, I weighed this morning and I'm down to 291--the lowest I have been in almost 6 years--and only 3lbs from the 50-pound mark! So right now, my goal is just to hit 288...I've been battling these last 3-8 pounds for a long time and I just want them gone. In other stuff, I bought the Biggest Loser Workout--wow! The lower intensity one has you doing jumping jacks off and on for the first 5 minutes...um, I don't know when I'm going to be brave enough to even peek at the high intensity

workout! And my thighs *hurt* today fromdoing that workout yesterday. I had to modify the second half of the jumping jacks, and I also had to not squat down as low towards the end (my thighs were on the verge of collapse), so I'd have to say that itkicked my booty! I borrowed a bunch of workout DVDs from our library Saturday, so I'll let you guys know about those once I've tried them. Oh! And the "Total Body Stretch for Beginners" with Tamilee, I thinkis wonderful. Three versions of it on the DVD (also from the library)--you can choose Standing, Sitting, or Floor, and each is only about 10 minutes long. Also on the DVD is a beginner's stretch for flexibility, but I haven't done that one yet. Sorry to ramble on! Have a happy Superbowl Sunday! -Bonnie 338/291/don't know :)Live, Love, Laugh

Jumping Jacks for beginners? The other day I decided to do some jumping jacks just to see if I could do them, and it was a sight to behold. LOL! I did two. You could actually hear my stomach flop when I came down. I don't think I could do more if I tried. I don't know for sure though. It was kind of hard on my knees. My right knee lately has been hurting quite a bit. I hope with losing the weight the knee will get better. But any way, about those Jumping Jacks, well that would just kick my butt for sure. 340/3008/135

*lol* Okay, I have to admit, I wear very supportive undergarments

when I exercise because otherwise, I have the same thing! Almost all

of my excess weight is in my abdomen (right between the waist and

hips) and my chest, so jogging and anything of the sort makes me...um,

jiggle. To put it nicely :)

There has to be a way to do those kinds of things without ripping out our guts. Or maybe we just have to put those kinds of exercise on hold until we lose some of this "excess" skin. I know that I can't run...not just because of the 'jiggles' but also because I would damage my knees more than they already are. So walking is the next best thing. It is so sad for me to say that. When I was 12 I was the fastest girl in my class! I was just behind our fastest boy...So I was second in my class in running. Go figure! Oh well, I will get back there one day... I don't even attempt to do those high impact exercises right now at my weight. I figured those will be waiting for me to do once I get down to about the 200 mark. With all the weight I have coming down and knees and ankles I don't think it can be very good. That's just my opinion. I'm sticking to walking and low impact exercises. The rebounder dont sound bad though as if gives with you. I was never fast in school and believe it or not....I was the skinnnest girl in school. LOL My...how time changes things. My brother is large and let me tell you.He is fast. I think he can outrun most people I know. My suggestion is just move....it don't matter how. Just get up and do something. As long as we move our bodys , it has to be helping us. Any kind of exercise that gets us breathing and moving I believe will aid us in the long run.
