Nina could you make sure I get a letter too. I am having surgery

this Saturday and with all that is going to be going on can you make

sure I don't forget to get one. I just told my boss that I was

having surgery on my stomach. He was mad but, just told me to make

sure I bring a letter back.

Thanks,

Tracie,

I think it is different for anyone…for

me, when I get that feeling it either means a) I ate too fast , B) I took too

big of a bite, or c) My band doesn’t like this food. And sometimes it

could mean it is time to stop and wait a few minutes and let the food pass. I

have never had much success with taking a drink when I get that feeling because

like you said, it comes back up usually. So at this point just wait and see if

it passes. If it doesn’t, you may have a PB on your hands.

Hi ,

Someone, hmmmmm, thought we were tighter than that, (jk)

anyways, that is so weird how you said you can't tolerate tuna, I tried eating

tuna mixed with light mayo the other day for lunch thinking it was soft and

mushie, but my band didn't like it, it no matter how much I chewed it hurt

going down so after a four or five bites I had to throw the rest away.

When you get that hurting sensation, have you irritated your band and maybe

caused swelling, because it just seems, everything else I ate, (even thought I

have eaten before , without a problem, just hurt going down, kinda like a

heartburn feeling in my chest, does this mean something is stuck, cause when I

get that feeling I try to drink something to help wash it down, sometimes what I

drink I will burp back up and sometimes not, so instead of getting any kind of

full feeling I just get heartburn, will this change once I get a fill?

Tracie B,

Re: Update on me

Hi ! Glad you made it through that flight!! I would

have been sooo scared!! I am not a good flier.

The head hunger is something you will have to contend with

for a long time I think. I am still having problems with it sometimes,

especially when I see others eating. Even if I have already eaten sometimes,

I think I want to eat. The other part is finishing the food on my plate. I

am still getting used to the right portions and sometimes put too much on my

plate. I am getting better at it but it feels so weird to push away food.

I have never, and I mean NEVER done that. You know how some people are giving

and say " here, try this, it is really good? " I wouldn't even do that

because I wanted the food all to myself! LOL! So yeah, pushing a plate of

food away takes some getting used to. Another example, the other day I went to

Dairy Queen and ordered a " Very small bowl of chilli " . Well they

don't normally serve just chili so they were trying to accomodate me the

best they could. unfortunately, the bowl was not very small, maybe held 2 cups.

So I ate a few bites, I would say 5, and started to get the signal from my

band. I took a look at the bowl of chili, and there was so much left, the

starving children in Africa syndrome hit me and hit me hard. I really

wanted to finish that bowl. Thank goodness I didn't have a drink with me or I

could have cheated the band (drank some liquid causing the food to pass through

the pouch and leaving room for more food). I have done this on occasion like

when Curtis has taken me out and I wanted to eat a little more. Anyway, when

you start mushies you will start practicing portion control but it won't be

until your first good fill when the band litterally says " Hello!! I am

down here " that you will get the point.

Someone else asked if it hurts to eat solids after a fill.

It depends on if you don't chew it well enough, it can hurt. You will learn

what foods you can tolerate, and what foods you can't. I have been lucky and so

far I can tolerate everything but tuna (which I love). Some people can't eat

breads, pasta, beef, chicken, etc. If you don't chew well enough, you will get

the golfball feeling or sliming event (like throwing up a jelly fish).

Carolyn - so sorry you are feeling poorly again! ;-( You know even if you are feeling crappy you could probably throw in the Learn & Burn DVD from Turbo Jam and just do the Learn Portion to figure out the moves and then watch the Burn part to review. Just a thought!

-------------- Original message -------------- hi everyone!well it is has been a lousy week for doing my exercise videos.i dont think that ive done one since last friday! ugh!!ive been very busy with alot of shopping/beach/errands/housework/yardwork and of course my birthday being the other day distracted me (that was on tuesday). after going out for dinner that evening i started to feel ill -- had a very sore throat and cold/flu symptoms -- so i decided to get a flashlight and take a look at my burning throat and discovered that i had a lot of thrush in my mouth (a yeast overgrowth caused by my asthma meds). dammit! i hate that! so i spent yesterday (wed) at the doctor's office and then running around to various pharmacies trying to get my prescriptions filled. i did manage to do a 50 minute power walk and partial jog outdoors yesterday afternoon while the kids were in school though! of course it had to rain on me and i looked like a drowned rat when i got home but i was thrilled that i actually got my workout done.last night i felt very sick and had to go to bed early... the anti-fungal makes me feel almost as bad as having thrush does :/ but it does work very well, i just need to give it a couple of days. this morning, i had planned on doing TURBO JAM!!! YES!! my kit finally showed up yesterday and i was thrilled to see it.... they shipped it out of canada so i did not get any customs charges or taxes applied to my order! YAY! however, now i feel too sick to do them :( doesnt that figure? i wait anxiously for 4 weeks for these workouts to arrive and now i dont have the energy to even open the dvds. geesh!so, im going to drag my a$$ around the house and try to get the cleaning done... then head outside to do all of the damned yardwork... and if im still standing after all of that i think that i will do one of the easy bargain tapes that i picked up last week, just so i can put something into my workout log for today. right now the couch is looking especially appealing, even if i have to endure watching all of the kiddie tv shows with my 4 year old, but im going to force myself to get my housework done, at least.talk at all of you later,:*carolyn.-- No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.Version: 7.0.323 / Virus Database: 267.10.19/93 - Release Date: 9/08/2005

Carolyn,

Sorry about your week! I had the no workout week last week. Soon, you

will be better and can look forward to the Turbo Jam. It is the season

for sickness:( I wonder everyday since the beginning of school which

one of my kids will be the first sick one.

thanks kath! actually ive been healthy all summer and am in shock that im

not feeling well now. i thought that i was doing so good!! the thrush

seems to have compromised my immune system because now i also have a cold

virus. ::sigh:: oh well, i will feel better in a day or two and after

having taken some cold meds this evening im feeling much better right

now. im quite hopeful that tomorrow will be a better day all around. i

have some more power walking audios lined up on my mp3 player for tomorrow,

but they are calling for rain so i will probably end up having an indoor

workout of some kind tomorrow anyway. if i feel up to kickboxing then i

will definitely do TJ! if not then well, i have tons of other easier

cardio workouts that i can do.

i promise that i will do *something* tomorrow though. i felt like such a

slug all day today!

Tracie:

your update is fabulous! I love to read the success stories of others

and my God girl you have done so well!

Who cares if you have flabby skin now? Think about how much healthier

you are and how you will be able to keep up with your child! I figure

most people have figure flaws anyway, so some of us will have to learn

how to disguise the loose skin until it can catch up.

Keep on posting your great inspirations!

The size of the band is on the lap-band box that the doctor gave us

after our surgeries.

Great post as usual, Janet. I really like the way you

allow yourself a treat without guilt. The all or

nothing attitude that I have sometimes is definately

my downfall. Many times, having a treat or a large

meal that is not 100% healthy will trigger a binge of

over-treating myself b/c I'll feel guilty for blowing

it and not eating 100% perfectly. I'm going to

remember what you said next time and allow myself to

indulge once in awhile w/out guilt and without feeling

like I've " blown it. " I think that will definately

help in not triggering overeating binges!

Thanks for the insight!

Donna

Great to hear from you. I am glad you are on a normal schedule so you can be home with the girls. There only little once. Dont blink you will miss the teenage years. I know about the budget being tight. Look for sales. No fast food. Plan ahead. All that will help.

, you CAN make good choices on limited income....shop the outer part of the grocery store only...stay away from the processed foods. Get WW bread (weight watchers) and some turkey and make a sandwich for lunch...do cereal with fruit for breakfast. Snack on apples or carrots or granola or a handful of nuts. Lots of water (I hear ya about ice cold water, too Ü )

As far as the gym is concerned, GO FOR IT!! 15 bucks a month is VERY CHEAP and really good...especially since its right there at work!!! The fitness test is most likely not to see if you are super buff and fit Ü it is probably just blood pressure and such to make sure you wont keel over on company property. DO NOT LET THAT TEST STOP YOU FROM JOINING!!!!!

I have 2 girls, too...11 and 8 Ü We homeschool....

I just got on the scales at the gym and I have lost 4 pounds which is a HUGE deal for me......I haven't seen the scales move in MONTHS (haven't really TRIED, either....) I am really only adding STEPS to my days...wear a pedometer and walk at least 10000 steps a day (if I do a 'formal' walk, I get more like 14000 in, but if I just do stuff around the house, and like park further for shopping etc, it adds up.....

YOU CAN DO THIS LISA!!! KEEP US POSTED!Kathey, who also just pops in and out...

Update on me

Hi everyone,

Welcome to all the new members... for those who don't know me I'm , orginally from the boston area moved to South Carolina about 3 1/2 years ago... I have 2 girls ages 11 and 8. I usually pop in here every so often but I read every day.. If I'm quiet then you know I'm not on track which I havent been for a real long time... I'm over 300lbs as of right now...

Money situation is pretty tight right now, so I probably wont be making the best choices I could but I am determined to get back on track..

My work situation is getting alot better, I got the hours I want 8am to 5pm and we just moved to a brand new building its HUGE! we finally have our own desk and don't have to share. They just started bring the water and ice machines over so I am planning on only drinking water at work. I can only drink ICE cold water... I made out a list of foods that I want to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner and the snacks inbetween. I havent made out my exercise list yet, we have a gym at our new building at work but they want you to take a fitness test before you can join... so because of that I probably wont join... I might see if anyone else at work takes the test and see what its about.. its $15 dollars a month per person and no annual fee I think thats a good price???

Anyhow... if you got this far thanks for reading... I will try to post more often...

WOW $15 a month is a fantastic price.

My company doesnt have anything like that and I pay around $45 a month for a regular gym membership.

GO for it. The fitness test is to help the staff and you learn where to start. If they make you feel uncomfortable then they arent doing their job right!

,

First I want to say welcome! Secondly, $15.00 a month is a great

price. Most gyms want $30-50 a month.

Maybe their asking you to take a fitness test so that they can

suggest ways to help you. Couldn't hurt!

Blessings,

so because of that I probably wont join... I might see if anyone

Hi , I know what it's like to have a tight money situation. I manage to eat ok on food stamps most of the month, until they run out. Then I get food from a Food Bank - it's not terribly nutritious but I focus on portion control then and still manage to lose a li'l weight.

I also know what you mean about not posting when your not on track. I've dropped out of this group twice when I had given up on myself. I got sick of reading the posts of people doing great work and I knew that if they were doing it I could too. I congratulate you on at least reading the posts - it keeps you in the right mindset.

I think it's great your job has a gym and for only $15/mo I would definitely join! The health test is worth taking just to see what they want to know. Maybe they just want to know if you are on the verge of a stroke or heart attack - fat people aren't always in terrible health.

Good luck and keep posting!

Mindy
