,

Thanks for the welcome to the list. My good times are in the mornings usually. It's hard to predict, but I try to answer emails at that time. I'm quitting the computer for the day. One of my main characters in my book, has MS and I'd like to give her some characteristic that ring true. If you could explain a few of the symptoms, early onset? This can be done off-list? And of coarse, no need to replay at all.

What worked for us with potty-training was using a schedule. We started with

every half-hour going in to sit on the potty.

She is now dry all day, and several nights. Any suggestions on behavior are

welcome here also.

I have had much success in the pt area. I run another on-line support group for

parents with kids with DS and the going consensus seems to be not to switch back

and forth between pullups and regular underwear. I put my daughter in regular

underwear and left her in them after almost 3 years of frustration with the pt

thing. She realized that it didn't feel right to be wet and quickly adapted so

now she goes to the potty on her own. The only thing I did different was to put

a pull up on her at night because her body is not yet ready for an all nighter

of being dry.

hi everyone,

I have been away for awhile but I am back. I have a 4yr.old daughter (D.S.)

and her twin sister, an 8 yr old boy, and a 10 yr.old daughter. Well, I am in

need of some good ideas for behavior and toileting and all that good stuff. I

am having to adjust obviously for different learning styles. But the constant

repetition gets frustrating sometimes.sso I see there are alot of moms and

dads with 4year olds in the group please help me find a cool way to get

through to her . She speaks in 2-3 word sentences goes to preschool is able

to join in and follow the routine. she is doing great except for some

hello, my son Tayler is 4 ds and completely potty trained, so is my daughter

2 1/2 nds, I just decided one day to not buy diapers anymore and not to let

them drink anything after 7 pm, make sure that they go to the potty right

before bed and if need be get my daughter up 1/2 way through the

night.Tayler has had dry night for almost a year now and no accidents. This

may sound strange to some but I always used the phase do you hear it coming

and cierra would say yes and Tayler would say here it coming and voila the

next thing I knew potty trained. I started this on his 4th birthday which

was august 13th and he is doing awesome

Hi Charlotte,

I'm going to cut and paste Message 296 from the archives, for you:

Bruxism as a Side Effect of Drugs and Medications. In some cases, bruxism may be traceable to drugs. Smoking (Madrid et al., 1998) and alcohol (Hartmann, 1994) may cause, or at least exacerbate, the condition. Antidepressant and antipsychotic medications may trigger bruxism in non-bruxers (reviewed in Brown & Hong, 1999; Gerber & Lynd, 1998). For example, within a few days of initiating velafaxine therapy for depression, a man with a bipolar disorder developed bruxism. In another study (Ellison & Stanziani, 1993), daily intake of the antidepressants fluoxetine (=prozac) or sertraline triggered sleep bruxism in four non-bruxers.

The effect of anti-depressants is still uncertain (Stein, Van Greunen, & Niehaus, 1998). Still, clinicians should bear in mind the theoretical possibility that drugs or medications may induce or exacerbate bruxism.

Recommendation: Clinicians should routinely inquire about their patients' habits of consuming tobacco, alcohol, and antidepressants. Cutting down on smoking or drinking may help improve bruxism. If bruxism developed shortly after the beginning of antidepressant therapy, the prescribing clinician should be notified and consulted about the desirability of reducing the dose of the antidepressant, switching to another antidepressant, or prescribing a drug which will counteract the bruxism-inducing effect of the antidepressant. Thus, the effects of venlafaxine may be counteracted with gabapentin; while the effects of fluoxetine and sertraline may be neutralized with buspirone. "

and the link:

http://www.cll.wayne.edu/isp/mnissani/bruxnet/advice.htm

End of quote.

You may want to check out the archived messages from about 250-325 or so. There's alot about bruxism and cracked teeth and ADs there. No real conclusions, however.

I'm still clenching away myself. And paying off the dentist bills! :(

Please keep us posted on your progress, ok?

My pdoc put me on 5mg Lexapro. Almost immediately my jaw became so sore from clenching that I can barely open my mouth wide enough to eat. I have been living on soup because chewing is extremely painful. She added Buspar 5mg twice daily a week ago, hoping that would relieve the jaw problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? My pdoc says that I am extremely sensitive to SSRI's. I'm wondering how long it will take the Buspar to start working.

HI donelle, I to be wanting to explore things on my teen daughter who to be

15 with the mild AS traits and to see what other moms to be coping with and

strategies to be to work on her. I to not be to have had any real exposure

to being a teen and to be to not know what to be to expect and things of

this and yet something's I to be to learned in last two years and to be to

fear her thinkings on something's as she to be most typical but lacks in

mild areas the abstract thinking, poor problem solving techniques, literal

in interpretations of things , basically lacks common sense to social street

safe thinkings.

Hi there everyone! (Hi !)

I am new to this list and looking forward to participating when I can.

I am Lorrie Beach from the itty bitty town of Greene, NY (near

Binghamton). I am married to the most awesome guy...he cooks and

cleans too...no kidding! I have two children ages 9 and 10, both

girls and a whirlwind of activity between school, sports, and music.

As I am sure most of you do, I work full time. I am in application

development and systems analysis at IBM in Endicott, NY (yes, there

are actually some IBM employees still in Endicott). When I am not

working, I chauffer my kids around to their multitude of activities,

and make soaps, lotions, and various other sundries when I have the

time....usually at night after the kids go to bed. I did 23 craft

shows this past year and am still trying to restore any semblance of

order in my house (from all the craft show mayhem throughout the year

and the craziness of the holidays) so that I can start all over again

for 2003....whew! Sounds familiar to all of you I am sure. I am

investigating the internet as a way of doing business more

efficiently. Although I am a little nervous about developing a

website because I do not want to leave my fulltime job...I don't know

what to expect in volume of sales. If anybody has experience or

advice in this area doing business on the internet and working

fulltime (with balancing a family)I'd love to hear from you!

Glad to be here!

Hi Shaye,

Thanks for the welcome!

Can you explain to me what a craftmall is?

Is this a store? or something online?

Thanks,

Lorrie

Hi Peggy!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I know exactly where Caledonia is, my father used to live in Fairport about 5

years ago. So I am somewhat familiar with the Rochester area. Word of mouth

sales would be nice, but since last year was my first year in business word

of mouth is slow right now. I figured a large number of craft shows would get

me the exposure I felt I needed. I am finally seeing some repeat customers,

which is nice. Hopefully more repeat business this coming year! Don't we all

want that?! :-)

Thanks Colleen!

I have only done a couple of 2 day shows, although I prefer them because you

only have to setup once and take down once for two days (obviously) rather

than two different shows back-to-back days in 2 different locations. I have

never done any major shows like Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, or Rochester. I

would love to, and I imagine that the return on shows like that would be

pretty nice, just have to get up the nerve to go for it (ha...I'd be shaking

in my boots) :-P

Hi there !

Sounds like we are concerned about the same thing.

I agree about the customer service and I also have customers asking when I

will be online. Right now I offer the craft show customers a mail order flyer

with all my products, but it certainly isn't as convenient for the customer

as a website would be.

Are you creating you website or having it done for you?

Glad to hear you did well this season!

Hi Lorrie,

Yes, I'm in the same situation. Got a web site in the process but

concerned about opening it up due to the volume. Worst thing to give a

customer is bad service. Working full time and then the soapmaking classes

are maxing out the 24 hours per day keeping up but some customers are asking

for a web site. I just figure it is all a process and whenever the site

gets up and running, then it does. Not going to forfeit sleep over it. It

was an awesome season this year. Everyone was in the Spirit!!! Lots of

baskets this seaon.
