Both sons do worse when not chelated. It also relates to me as I have two sons with disabilities and I drank tap water and ate a lot of salmon and tuna while pregnant with those two boys, turns out I may have been taking in mercury and lead I could not chelate out which affected my two disabled sons in utero. I have four other children who are normal and with those pregnancies, I drank distilled water and tried to eat as organically as possible, definitely avoided the ocean fish except as a fish oil supplement from a high quality company. As for testing, we had to step out of network to an evironmental specialist/toxicologist who ran these tests for us. We ran into a brick wall within the HMO, but we have gotten some answers out of this exploration out of network despite the expense of the office visits. Here's a definite correlation- the longer these two go without chelation and ferritin, the worse their symptomatology becomes no matter how careful I try to be about what they eat and drink. Dr. Farnsworth, a Board Member of the College of Naturopathic Physicians in British Columbia, Canada will also be a guest on the show. Naturopathy is under full scale attack from the BC provencial government, but unless we all join together to defend consumer access to dietary supplements, Naturopathy and orthomolecular medicine will be stamped out globally. Today I made contact with the local Food Coop in my county in an effort to do some more public speaking and to form a local group to hold periodic meetings for the purpose of catalyzing more rapid national and international awareness of this issue. PLEASE ASSIST WITH THIS EFFORT A national listing of all food coops in the USA can be found at http://www.coopdirectory.org/directory.htm A national listing of health food stores in the USA can be found at http://www.findahealthstore.com/ As discussed previously, those health food stores that are members of NNFA have been actively misled on this issue due to pharmaceutical interests controlling the supplement industry from the top-down via the trade associations. The " Find a Health Store " website was created by Citizens for Health, a controlled opposition group that should be supporting the ANH lawsuit, but isn't despite exhaustive efforts to communicate with them on the issue. CFH is receiving donations from NOW Foods, which is mindlessly supporting NAHS/HFMA, a controlled opposition group in the UK that is trying to derail ANH's GENUINE effort to overturn the EU FSD. NAHS/HFMA's motives are made transparent through this letter ANH sent to HFMA Chair Aldis http://www.iahf.com/anh/index.html (Aldis has not and will not respond) Aldis is ceo of Holland and Barrett, the largest chain of health food stores in the UK which is owned by Nature's Bounty, the largest supplement company in the world. Nature's Bounty, a publicly traded company, would not benefit from overturning the EU Food Supplement Directive, because it helps them grab increased marketshare throughout Europe, at the expense of consumers. Keep in mind what the EU FSD does: While is SLAMS what can be sold in England, Ireland, Holland and Sweden (the 4 countries where consumers enjoy the greatest degree of access to supplements in Europe) it simultaneously slightly INCREASES what can be sold throughout the other 21 countries in Europe, (while simultaneously slamming the door on the black market products being sold in these countries coming out of England, and setting the WORLD up via the impact it threatens to have at CODEX.) The FSD also forces the supplement industry into a regulatory straightjacket by banning 300 ingredients, forcing some 5000 products to be watered down to the point of ineffectiveness, and it would later be EXPANDED on to ban still MORE products. The FSD specifically targets the 20% of the supplement industry which manufactures the most INNOVATIVE products. It is a full scale nuclear attack on the supplement industry, but its complexity, and the incremental nature of the entire Codex issue causes it to slip under too many people's radar. First Dr. Cutler is a toxicologist, not a neurologist and he is in upstate NY. He has served as helpful guide in this process as anything I have been concerned about he has helped me to get bloodwork and scripts to investigate more thorougly. I was very upset when I put my children on AEDs with a neurologist and their seizures became uncontrollable, with grand mals thrown in, so I decided to ask some other questions which led to the improvements seen. As for whether our 6 yo outgrew his seizures? I don't think so. He was having a number of absence seizures per day that were progressing to the point of his head rolling forward and him slumping in his chair. We got involved in a study to look at genetics and metabolism. We put him on supplements to address that. That helped, but last year, I still did not have him seizure free till I put him on the diet. A number of kind people on this list offered me advice and I took it all. Then, Dr. Cutler looked at his blood and urine profiles and suggested enzymes which also helped. Our son is on a number of supplements, a low carb, gluten-free, anti-oxidant diet in which every bit of carbohydrate has to carry its weight in antioxidants, non-fluoridated (distilled) water- this is huge, methyl B12 and some chelation. It's a relief to see him seizure free. The shopping list of supplements is daunting. Our 4 yo struggles terribly with leukoencephalopathy and leukomalasia. That he is able to climb a ladder at the park and go down the slide, feed himself or play ball even as limited in time as he can is amazing, tires easily after an hour or so, and I can't get him entirely seizure free, although I am blessed with a few good days in which he only has a handful of absence seizures, but a day or two without his supplements and diet show him in his true light which is very scary. I comfort myself with knowing that we are probably doing the best we can. The prognosis for his condition is terrible and two years ago, he could nto even sit up without support. Many people prayed for him. If I have managed to help my 6 yo, I still struggle with my 4 yo, so I am hardly a mentor. If you want the shopping list and the thoughts behind it, that's more than one email here on this list. This has been a journey. If you are considering going to an environmental MD, please understand that this is not a simple journey and that looking for answers is putting yourself hand in hand as a researcher, taking notes on your child's behavior and responses, helping to look for the answers and not getting discouraged. The problems are quite complicated when you begin digging and the answers take time and can be quite complicated also. You have to be patient and persevering with that path of exploration. There were many times I threw my hands up in despair, but I am glad that I did not give up. Dana

" <foxyfox8@...> Subject: Re: susan and grace re taurine and lamictal Digest Number 1497 MJH, I spoke to my ped today about all kinds of things including the fact that pharmaceuticals seem to be increasing her seizures instead of decreasing and she told me that it's possible that her seizures are getting worse and that the meds are not controlling them, and I told her that in my heart, I don't believe that this is what's happening and I also told her that I won't feel comfortable until I take off the meds and see what happens. If they are in fact worse off the meds, then fine, I will work on finding a med that will control them, but if she is better off without the meds, then I'm really considering just trying to heal her naturally. So, she told me that I should talk to the neuro at my next visit which will be next Wed. and explain how I feel and that if I don't feel comfortable with his attitude about if I feel that he is not listening to me, that I should call her and she will refer me to another pediatric neuro. Anyone know of a good one in the Tampa area??? >>>> Good for you Grace. Stick to your guns. It may well be the the overall quality of life may improve with having four seizures a year and other support. Have you emailed Dr. s? Also, she gave me prescription for a glucose machine to check her glucose throughout the day and I will begin using it tomorrow. Does anyone know what the normal glucose level is??? >>>> Why don't you phone the doc's office and ask that question? The ped is also checking her hormone levels and she also wants me to ask the neuro to have a metabolic test done to check her amino acids, etc. so I will be asking him to do that also when I see him. She also told me that 's scoleosis doesn't seem bad, but we will be seeing a orthopeadic surgeon on Thursday and I'll know for sure. >>>> Please try to find non surgical ways to deal with mild scoliosis. That's what I did as I have it in two places. Back surgery is very serious stuff. Do your homework thoroughly before making any commitment to surgery. >>>> The best place for those tests are Metametrix Labs. The doc can send the samples there for testing. Take information with you. Just ask our friend from carbonbased.com So, that's where we're at. MJH, when and I take that Taurine, she looks so tired and so do I and I also sometimes get dizzy, is that normal??? >>> We do not experience that. Subject: Beets for Magnesium- liver cleanse Hi Mjh, The first time I ever heard a doctor suggest a nutritional therapy for epilepsy, was when I was a kid of about 15 almost 50 years ago. A very old doctor said I should eat a lot of red beets because they are high in magnesium. They are also an extremely good source of betaine, essential for liver and gallbladder function.Interesting the way nature puts these things that we need together.Dr.Bruce West,MD has written some very good material on this and the importance of a liver and kidney cleanse. It may be on his website www.healthalert.com if not I can send it to you.It might be worth a try. You and Charlie can turn this around. arnold .. .. >>> Hiya Arnold I will chek out the website a bit later and I thank you for this. Why don't you send me what you have as my time right now is very limited online and I have no one to help me with all that needs to be done..... followup calls, filling out and devilering numerous forms, getting medical records from numerous places. About ten years ago, Charlie was seizing because of clobbered liver enzymes caused by the pharmaceuticals. That's when I started giving him milk thistle and regularly including raw grated beets and dandelion into the diet. Fortunately, Charlie loves his veggies..... both raw and fresh. mjh http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

We still need your help in two ways. Reactivate your local email lists to call their Senators again. Especially the Republican Senators. This is a very tight votes and even two Republicans swinging our way will make a huge difference. Second - go to Senator Cantwell's web page and sign the petition. http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/nuclearwaste_petition.html Even if we loose the vote tomorrow, the issue is not over. We want to win, so let's do one last all our push on this today!! Thanks. URGENT ACTION ALERT Support the Cantwell-Hollings amendment to stop the Department of Energy's plan to leave highly radioactive nuclear waste in leaking underground tanks. Support the Feinstein-Kennedy amendment to stop funding for nuclear bunker busters and other advanced nuclear weapons. Call your Senators and Representatives at 202-224-3121 (Congressional switchboard) Write your Senators and Representatives using email at http://www.webslingerz.com/jhoffman/congress-email.html Sign a petition supporting cleanup of highly radioactive nuclear waste http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/nuclearwaste_petition.html Timing: Act Now! The Senate will vote on amendments to the defense authorization bill (S. 2400) following the Memorial Day recess (June 1 or after). Background: Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pushed a provision through Senate Armed Services Committee providing South Carolina with an exemption to the Nuclear Waste Policy Act. The exemption allows the Department of Energy to abandon millions of gallons of highly radioactive waste left behind in rusting tanks at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. Funding for cleanup of high-level waste at other key sites in Washington and Idaho is being held hostage until those states agree to DOE's proposal to leave more waste behind at those sites. The DOE wants the exemption so it can cement the wastes in place as part of its accelerated cleanup strategy to " finish " cleanup early and save billions of dollars. Doing so, however, would create massive high level waste dumps at these sites and threaten future generations with severe contamination. The federal court in Idaho already ruled in 2003 against DOE's plan to reclassify waste. The DOE has appealed the case, but the affected states have all submitted friends of the court briefs opposing DOE's plan. Senators Cantwell (D-WA) and Ernest Hollings (D-SC) plan to offer an amendment to the defense authorization bill to remove DOE's authority to reclassify high-level radioactive waste. The amendment will uphold the Nuclear Waste Policy Act and direct the $350 million in DOE's " High-Level Waste Fund " be spent on continuing cleanup of the high-level waste tanks. The DOE urgently needs to clean up the mess now, not " cap and cover " the waste, jeopardizing the water supply of those downstream for generations to come. The Senate will also vote on key nuclear weapons programs when it takes up the amendment by Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Kennedy (D-MA) to cut $27.5 million in funding for research into a new nuclear bunker buster and $9 million for other advanced nuclear weapons concepts. Senators should oppose funding for the " Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator " to modify two existing types of nuclear weapons with explosive powers fifty times that of the bomb used over Hiroshima for destroying deep underground bunkers. Even these large nuclear weapons would be ineffective to the depths that modern bunkers can be built and the collateral damage from such an explosion would kill millions if the bunker was located beneath a major city. The " Advanced Concepts Initiative " gives U.S. nuclear weapons labs money to design new mini-nuclear weapons and other new concepts. Even the smallest yield nuclear earth penetrator would create heavy collateral damage. Their small size could lead the President to more readily consider their use in future conflicts. Their research, development and potential use encourages other nations to consider them a desirable weapon to own. The President has requested the highest budget for nuclear weapons activities since the all-time record set under President Reagan during the Cold War. At a time of war and record deficits, Congress needs your support to cut the nuclear weapons budget and curb the pursuit of new nuclear weapons programs. These programs send a clear " do as I say, not as I do " message to the rest of the world and threaten to undermine the nation's attempts to stem the world's appetite for weapons of mass destruction. Suggested message to Senators: Please support the Cantwell-Hollings amendment to the defense authorization to stop the Department of Energy's plan to leave highly radioactive nuclear waste in leaking underground tanks. Please support the Feinstein-Kennedy amendment to cut funding for nuclear bunker busters and other advanced nuclear weapons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jim Bridgman, Program Director Alliance for Nuclear Accountability 322 4th Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002 202-544-0217; 202-544-6143 (fax) jcbridgman@...; www.ananuclear.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -- ******************************** Gordon, Director Alliance for Nuclear Accountability www.ananuclear.org 1914 N 34th Street, #407 Seattle, WA 98103 ph 206-547-3175 fax 206-547-7158 ANA is a national network of organizations working to address issues of nuclear weapons production and waste clean-up. MJ [ ] Hello, New To Group. 11 Year Old Son Had First Seizure. Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2004 13:04:28 -0000 Hi, This is my first post with the group. I have an 11 year old son, Mike, who was diagnosed with autism at age 5. Other than food and enviormental allergies, ha has been very healthy. Our doctor has him on a very low dose of Risperdal (sic) .5 mg to control his anxiety. Yesterday, within 5 minutes of leaving our new swimming pool, Mike began to have a seizure. We took him to the ER where the drew blood, did a CAT scan and then released him about 2 hours later. They gave him a dose of Tegretol and a presciption for the medication to fill. The also wrote a RX for an EEG which will will do ASAP. We have never seen this before, never. My wife is besides herself. Mike is very independant and very aware of everything around him. We know he was drinking water from the pool. My wife thinks he might have aspirated some of the chlorinated water. I do not know if this could cause a seizure. The pediatrician also recommended increasing his dose os Risperdal which we did a week or so ago. Right know we are a little overwhelmed. Any suggestions, comment or advice would be a Godsend.
