Hi Everyone, well, what a funny day today was. My daughter

and her husband have been here a week and are leaving tomorrow, today was a

family gathering to say good bye, or , so I thought. When I walked out onto

the patio at my daughter's, everyone there yelled " SURPRISE, HAPPY

BIRTHDAY! " ......The funny thing is, my birthday is Dec. 17!

But, 10 years ago, I planned a surprise birthday party, with all my kids, for my

oldest daughter. Her birthday is Sep. 3, and I said, let's have it in Aug. so

she won't suspect anything. And the joke was on me, all the time I helped plan

her party, the party was for me, and when I got her to the surprise party, they

all yelled happy birthday to me!! I was 70 then, and certainly was surprised.

Well this week I told one of them, gee, it doesn't seem like 10 yrs. have passed

since you kids threw me that great surprise party - who would ever think they

would do it twice?? they did, and surprised me with a beautiful photo scrapbook

album they all worked together on, from my birth right up to today!

I am so fortunate to have 6 wonderful children, and everyone was telling their

favorite mother joke, or gramma joke or story, or they were talking about what

they did in their teens and got away with, (or not )

So, in Dec. now that I am 80 in August, will I be 80 1/2? 81? or just plain

old 80 ???? Anyway, it was a great day, hope you all had a great day too,

blessings, Bobby

Hi all,

I've had hep C since 1980. I moved to FL last year. Now they have found cancer

cells in my bloodwork. I went to a new dr. last week and he had the audasity to

say I am beyond treatment. This both shocked and angered me. Needless to say I

changed Drs. and am awaiting an appointment with another who may have a better

My point is this. DON'T EVER GIVE UP. DON'T LISTEN TO JUST ONE. GET MORE

Hi Mimi,

I'm one of the owners of this message board (Sue is the other owner), but no one has heard from me in a number of days. I'm trying to sift through all these posts that I haven't read, and when I came to yours, I felt I had to respond.

I've been depressed and in pain too, it's all because of the fibro, I guess. I just saw my doctor today who changed some of my meds around. I've been seeing a therapist for the past month or so, but my doc wants me to see a psychiatrist, so I have an appointment for that on 8/25. I'm not really sure what a psychiatrist is going to do for me that my doc and a therapist don't already do, but I'll try anything.

Back in the 70s I became clinically depressed and was hospitalized for several weeks, so I know what that's like. I'd like to avoid having that happen again. I need to get out of this pit of pain and anxiety, irritibility and depression, fatigue and insomnia, on and on and on.

I hope you are doing better. Maybe I'll see more of your posts as I continue to read. I'm glad you have joined us.

Pam

(unknown)

Just spent 6 days in the psych hospital. With no meds for 72 hours. Back on 20 mg Lexapro.

They suggested Cymbalto or Lyrica. I refused.

Depression just attacked and I was powerless.

Suppose to see a psychiatrist next week who will deal with fibro/depression.

Dang this is hard some days/months/years.

HELP!Southern Comfort in Atlanta but going home to Florida Saturday.

Do you have insurance? It depends on your insurance coverage.

If not, there may be local programs that would assist in covering the

cost - you would probably need to work with the local social services

agencies.

I made one set of mylar pieces for each of my molds, and am still using them, at

least 3 years later. :-) I usually do cpop, and it doesn't damage the sheets.

The ones I've seen and purchased are about 12 " x 15'. The package contains 2,

and are called, " flexible chopping mats. "

Are the mylar sheets you use reusable? If reusable, does the heat

That's the only size I saw online.

You're welcome! Glad to share info. :-) I was so happy to find this out so I

didn't have to monkey with butcher paper anymore.

Now, I just need a sheet large enough for my slab mold. I've been googling

silicone sheets, but the only things I've found thus far are very pricey.

Thanks Beth, for the additional info. I like the idea of re-using these

this.

I tried transdermal LDN and by the second day, I had a lot of issues -- primarily gas and bloat.

I'm pretty sure I have major candida issues, but I so want to continue with the LDN without all the digestive issues.

I have Crohn's (20+ years); I'm 48 years old and need some moral support as well as some advice.

I have a fistula that's acting up, and was wondering if LDN helps with that too.

Thanks everyone!

Dear Old and new Listmates,

A New group for those with IBD and IBS (Crohns, U.C, Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic Colitis, IBS) is born

I have been nothing less than amazed for two years! I started using LDN for my Crohns in Sept. 2007. My most significant changes are: All pain and bloating dissapeared within one single night, I woke up full of energy and had NO PAIN at all the very next morning after I took my first 3 mg of Low Dose Naltrexone. The diarrhea took a couple of weeks before it gradually improved. My severe anemia was back to normal within some months (iron supplements didn't help me much). But the best results was that since the inflammation reduced, my narrowing got away, and therefore the partial obstructions, which I used to have a couple of times every month at least 1 year prior LDN, dissapeared. I was on prednisone for 3 months prior LDN, my Gastroenterolog would try 3 months to see if that was enough, but no, it wasn't. When I tapered off of prednisone the inflammation came back. At that point I decided to give LDN a try. I never regret that I made up my mind to do so. LDN is such a fantastic medicine. It may give you some small side effects in the beginning, may be the first week or two. Those side effects are minor, it's often vivid dreams (funny or not so funny dreams), it could problems falling asleep, it could be waking up in the middle of the night feeling wide awake. You may toss and turn for some nights, but then - it's often over. Some people also get some rashes and other again some red and warm skin. All those side effects dissapears, and if you feel you need to discuss LDN and side effects, or feel afraid to start, write in and get some support here. I will add a list of the typical side effects and what you can do. I'll also add a trouble shooting list if LDN doesn't work the way you wanted. Because this happens. We may have a solution for you. The Files section on the left side here will show you USEFUL FILES.Good luck to all IBD'ers and IBS'ers! :-)

And welcome to the new group:

Misty, be aware that the CI doesn't provide normal hearing, so pushing for

the CI in preference of new hearing aids is to take something away from your

son that can't be replaced. You might better be looking for sources to

cover hearing aids. There are groups that help with children. Check with

his school and audiologist; they might know groups in your area that could

help. Ruth

My 13 year old son is just about able to qualify for a CI. I don't even have

the money to get him the good hearing aides so I am wondering how much more

people end up paying for the CI and all the stuff that goes with it. I don't

qualify for financial help because I make to much money (which is a joke

because what they say is to much money is like nothing). Just throwing out a

question. Thanks, Misty
