I was on FMLA then short term disability. Family

Medical Leace Act.....Thanks, Connie

They sent me home for 2 weeks in a row before knowing

I had hep because of nosebleeds and counted it against

me as unscheduled leave even though they sent me home.

Did another girl that way with the Flu and terminated

her...They are vindictive I walked out on them once

because of harrassment but never filed charges just

wanted new supervisor well I got one and set up also.

How recently were you set up on that job, Connie? Is there a

possibility of a wrongful termination action based on medical

discrimination? Got to watch out for the statute of limitations.

yeah one lady at work has bad migraines... her doctor set it up as a

disability she has them so often so she can miss as much work as needed and

still keep her job.. course, they had to farm out her work to keep her

covered when she wasn't there. Migraines aren't something you can work from

home on.. but working from home is a big option many heppers should look at

Sounds like its time for a new job Connie... Have you checked out medical

transcription at home or processing insurance claims at home? I went to work

for an insurance company and just learned that some do that cause it's

cheaper for the company. You don't get benefits tho, and get paid by the

piece. But it's some money. I'm looking into it for myself. I write and have

a book in work but ya know, nobody pays till i can get a publisher to accept

the completed product :(

Hi Connie,

Last time I weighed on my 5 month anniversary I was down 77lbs. I am pleased

with my weight loss. How are you doing? Are you coming to the picnic.

He is right, you MUST eat right! You need protein

foods and veggies! And 1200mg of riba sounds like an

awful lot for you, especially if you have been loosing

weight. If he wants to pull you because you haven't

responded virally take him some info on maintainence

dosing, and how staying on interferon can help improve

your fibrosis. You already have an approval for a year

of meds, right? You might as well use them and

hopefully get your liver in better condition. I have

heard of sore mouth, but can't remember exactly in

connection with what. I think may be a B-vitamin

deficiency. Also, B vitamin deficiency can cause a

lack of appetite. Check out this site for some

sources:

http://www.cyberdiet.com/foodfact/vitmins/vitmins.html

Also, I'd take a good B-complex supplement. Just don't

overdo the Niacin.

Hi Claudine

Hows your son? How did it go, ok? Hope he isn't too

uncomfortanle.

Actually, I have gained weight just like the last

time. Go figure. 70 lbs, so far 42 this time. Drs

told me was water weight, I told them if I had 70lbs

of water weight, that I would slosh when I walked,

Any of you remember when you would run in and get some

water or whatever and then run back outside and you

would slosh?

My hair was coming back before this round of Meds.

My hands trembling and the other jerks are giving me a

really hard time today. It seems to get stronger with

each day that goes by. Maybe it would have done it

the last time if had been on it longer.( my hair). I

guess I should start looking up, Parkinson's disease,

but not ready to do that yet. Dr A seems to think is

some type it is some type of Parkinson's. That has

always been my fear to shake like people I see since I

was a child.. I was just telling Eddie about how

scared it made me, there was someone with it in a

restaurant we were in. Pretty ironic isn't it that I

wind up with something like them. I never made fun of

them, they just scared me. He said I know you have

told me before he said also, don't worry you will be

alright.

But you worry anyway know, I am so tired of worrying

about Rent, Scripts, Bankrutpcy, Dr bills I have been

driving the least I can, my tag is expired and will

stay that way till something breaks my way. :-)...all

of it and never enough to pay the bills. I as well as

you, worry too much it will not make any difference.

I should have a court date soon, for the SS. But as

far as I can tell I won't get anything beyond the

amount awarded to me, no settlement because, the

worker I have at Liberty Mutual LTD, dropped the ball

in getting papers to the Lawyers. Probably would have

been longer if I had not e-mailed him to find out what

was going on with the Lawyers ( Vendor for Liberty

Mutual) because papers should have been to them in

March they received them. the beginning of September.

I can't do anything with the bilateral CTS, FL has 1

year Statute of Limtations on Workmans Comp. What

really pisses me off, they knew I was very sick and

they never mentioned it to me. I think they should

have to fix them or something even if I am inoperable

and has been more than a year(will be bled out throuh

the Carpal Tunnel) once they close it back up that

something was having an aspirin effect on my blood. I

have heard massage will work on CTS. I also wonder if

the CTS has anything to do with the trembling.

Take Care, Connie

Sorry for blowing off steam I suppose you can call it.

Connie...I was losing my hair for no reason, then I started taking

Vitamin B50 and it stopped. And some new hair grew back in too. I

don't know if the vitamin was the reason but I notice if I don't take

it everyday it starts falling out again. And I'm not yet on

treatment.

I know it must be hard to eat when you feel so lousy...but Connie, do

try and force down something nutritious...like ice cream LOL. Ok, I

admit I have an awful diet too, but I do try (sometimes).

Hi Connie,

My son's endoscopy went ok, but he still had lots

of inflammation in his esophagus. He handled it well

though. We'll know more after we get the results of

the Ph probe.

Even with your weight gain, 1200mg of ribavirin

for you is above the recommended dose for your weight

- I THINK. I think in pounds, not kilos. They put the

dose instructions in kilos, not pounds, but under 75

kilos the dose of ribavirin is supposed to be 1000

mg., over 75 kilos is 1200 mg. I don't think you are

close to 75 kilos. Still, you have tolerated that dose

fairly well, but with your worsening symptoms... I

don't know. It's not like I have ever heard of

trembling as a side effect of ribavirin anyway. I have

heard of it in relation to hyperthyroidism though,

especially trembling of the hands. Also hair loss,

muscle weakness... it's a long list, but it is the

interferon affecting your thyroid, not ribavirin. And

all that weight gain is water weight???? Is he sure?

Something doesn't sound right to me. Has anyone

checked your kidney function? Could this have anything

to do with your diabetes, and how is your blood sugar

levels? I have heard of people who gained weight while

on treatment, but it was because they became so

inactive, getting no exercise, but while their

appetite was not great, they still ate ok. Still, I

just don't know enough about how having diabetes might

interact with the interferon and your metabolism.

(Actually, now that I'm thinking about, I do know one

person who just stopped treatment about 2 months ago,

and she is also diabetic, and she gained weight during

treatment, and is already loosing it since stopping.)

Sometimes when a person is not eating enough protein

foods fluids will accumulate in TISSUES, instead of

the circulatory system where it belongs, but that

would show up as swelling - you'd probably notice 45

pounds fluid showing up as swelling in your feet,

legs, etc. (I notice 5 pounds!!!) Has anyone else

heard of retaining fluids like that as a side effect

of treatment (not the disease)?

Maybe you should follow up on your thyroid more,

before digging into the Parkinsons. Since by YOUR lab

your TSH is way too low (it would have been low-normal

by my lab's values) that may be the more likely

problem. Normally, weight LOSS would be associated

with hyperthyroidism, but when my thyroid first went

hypo on me I lost a lot of weight fairly fast, NOT

what the books say should happen. I had symptoms of

both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. In fact, my

PCP was telling me I had 'Graves Disease', which is

autoimmune hyperthyroidism, but I had exactly the

opposite - HYPOthyroidism. But trembling of the hands

is one definite symptom of hyperthyroidism.

Good luck, with this and all your other problems

(like you didn't already have enough???).

Take care,

Claudine

Connie....

I'm in Chicago (USA)...not exactly a small hamlet. But I don't think it

matters where you live in the US...the economy is down the toilet and

people are being laid off everywhere by the thousands. I'm just thankful

that I've already gone through rebetron so don't have to worry about

that...

Reason I asked just wanted to make sure you are in the

US.

How long did you work for company?

Were they aware of your Hep C?

Did they have short term disability?

Or long term disability?

Was with them for 2 years. Yes they were aware of my hep, yes I had

short term and long term disability...both of which end at the end of

this month.

This was the second round of layoffs in 6 months and 80 of us were laid

off...it was an ad agency and we lost our biggest client in a buyout. It

was a legitimate layoff...I hadn't had any work to do since we lost all

the Quaker accounts which I worked on several months prior to this round

of layoffs.

Sounds like a fair company though. Unlike who I

worked for(Government), I had to fight for the LTD and

it was finally overturned after 6 months. Can you get

unemployment? Have you asked your Company if they

would be willing to give you any STD or LTD. Is their

Insurance Co. that carries it. My LTD you had to pay

for till you were with them 5 yrs, after that the LTD

was automatic. I was with them almost 10 years.

Wasn't just me it was anyone who was sick and also did

not fit in their clique.

Ofcourse I can get unemployment but not until December 3rd. They kept us

on payroll through December 1st so we could keep over medical benefits

until the end of the year so I can't apply until after the 1st.

Not eligible for any std/ltd....I mean if I were sick I would be, but

I'm not. Well, I have hep c, but am still perfectly able to work. And it

was a legit layoff...I have no reason to fight them about it.

It's just frightening to be unemployed in these times...the jobs are few

and far between and each job probably has thousands of applicants.

Thanks for caring and sharing
