Hey, no problem Colleen, and thanks! I didn't think that I'd motivate anyone

with my ramblings, but hey, it's all good =) How did your workout go? Did you

hit your 10s or close?

I had a great workout. I've just started doing my cardio at the gym

on the stationary bike since my back and neck have been acting up.

It's a compromise that let's me get cardio in and not aggravate my

condition. Last night I finally got the levels down right and

definitely hit my 10!! Thanks again for the motivation.

Hi Cathey;

Way to go! I'm so happy for you. Just take it slow and easy and don't lift anything. If you do get any reflux or a spasm, cold milk works well for me.

Oh my gosh, I did it! I had the surgery and woke up! They didnt have to cut into me after all and were able to do it all with the lap. I was in the hospital enjoying the morphine, over night and came home. Saturday I felt as if Id been in a car accident and I have to say, I have bruises in places, I didnt know anyone would have to beeeeee....anywho, I am on the soft mushy diet now until October and so far I havent had any trouble eating, Im still afraid to try fruit. I dont want to rain on my own parade yet. Although I dont remember whats normal when you swallow, I do know whats different and as soon as I swallowed saliva, I knew it was different. Now I pray Im one that it will be the last thing I have to deal with. I am a bit concerned that I have nothing for "just in case" reflux or spasms etc. guess I will have to wait and see. I notice I feel full faster and oh my gosh is it great to not have everything get hung up even if its a swallow that isnt painful. I would say the the one girl thats wondering about how long she will need off of work, for sure to figure the 2 weeks cause I cant even drive for that long. Wow, I hope everything for me goes just as well as yours. It seems quite

amazing that you went home the very next day after surgery.

Is that quite standard, I was sort of expecting about 2-4 days.

Well great news anyway, happy eating , keep us updated with your progress

and all the best.

Hi Kim,

The hospital tried to send me home the next day after my surgery also. You really do not feel well enough to go home the next day, anyway I didn't. I think it is the insurance companies who are pressuring hospitals to send patients home very soon after their surgery. I just told the doctor no, I do not feel ready to go home today. I had my surgery on a Friday and went home Sunday afternoon. Remember, the pain medication you are getting in the pump at the hospital is much more effective than what they send you home with. You are in charge, if you don't feel ready to go home, just tell them.

Brett the pictures you have posted currently are a huge motivator for

me. Your beginning body type is so similar to mine. I hope to get

the results you have. I am really happy that you finished C1. Even

if you don't win anything just know that you have been and will

continue to be an inspiration and motivator to those who are watching

Most definately, I am starting c2 next Monday. I am still doing my

workout and eating this week, I am just putting it at #2 on my list

for this week. Next Monday, it's back to the grind.

i just finished C1 myself- started C2 yesterday.

did you set specific goals at the outset of C1? if so, do you feel

that you met them/surpassed them? did you find that your goals

changed? are your goals for C2 different?

Unfortunately, I didn't have " set " goals for c1. Truthfully, I

didn't think that I was going to see a lot of results in my first

challenge. Years of doing the " wrong " things taught me not to get my

hopes up.

My main goal for c1 was just to feel better and look better. I had a

flimsy goal of 124lbs, which I did not reach, but, I made it to

132lbs and I am happy with that. I dropped a total of 20lbs scales

weight, 7%bf, and a 1.5lb muscle gain. Overall really successfull.

For c2 I have some more specific goals in mind:

- Drop at least 5%bf

- Drop 10lbs scale weight

- Drop 2 inches off my waist

- Drop 3 inces off my hips

- Run a 5k race

I am very excited to c2 and am expecting better results than in c1.

Congratulations Marty,

You had your hip done 10 days before mine. I try to do my exercises 4

times a day, but it is easy to be half hearted about it sometimes.

In December my husband and I are going to a place with a sea water

pool (I am alergic to the chemicals they put in most swimming pools)

and a ramp. My husband says he will take me to the pool each day to

do some water walking. So I am hoping that after two weeks of daily

water work I will have less pain.

My work has been very understanding about my needing time off. But as

I run a community centre, which is presently being manned by

volunteers I am keen to get back to work. The volunteers have been

marvelous but I can see the strain beginning to show and I don't want

to loose these great workers.

I used to do the 4.5 klm walk round our lake with the clients 3 times

a week. Hopefully I will soon be able to do that again.

Congratulations Marty!!

You must be so proud of yourself. Sounds like a lovely place to do

your walking.

Now the trick will be getting the walking and exercises in after you

go back to work. That can be a challange.

I had a really good PT session. I could really feel a difference in

how I walked after PT today. Yesterday was my first day not taking my

cane on my walks. Today felt much better (less awkward) than

yesterday. Starting to feel a little more " normal " .

Hi Marty,

Thanks for detailed your reply.I will refer to it as the weeks

progress! As I suspected, retraining the muscles once I get walking

should be a challenge. I still feel my muscles are not settled into

their correct places so its nice to know its not unreasonable to be

expected to recover without adressing the muscles problems from the

cdh. I guess the PT may start adressing this once I'm weight bearing

which will hopefully be in a weeks time. I leaned to the side too.

Majorly apparent to me only in photographs. My mum keeps on about

how straight I am now which is weird since i always felt straight

before!

Youve achieved a lot considering you only had 3 weeks PT. Thanks for

the top tips. I was wondering if you ever got sacoiliac joint pain?

My hip feels great but my back is still a bit troublesome, hence the

motivation to sort the hip muscles out fast,

Yes, , I still plan on getting Tae Bo or Tae Chi. But not until I

have been able to go through this DVD with more ease. I'm so sore this

morning! But I feel good.
