thanks for the update. That is good that Cort is getting ABA. Every

thing that Karac learned is due to ABA. Hang in there. I'm continuing

Oh, I'm sure the deployment must be hard on you. I have a Grandson who

has been deployed to Iraq twice. The first time was a big adjustment

for he and his young wife, but they had counseling and got through it.

Pat,

I love that you taught Karac to pray to calm down! I will follow your example. I have been in Florida for some medical exams for a week now and the kids are at home with my husband, Devon. He tells me that for the last few days Josiah has been coming up to him at various times and asking "Mommy coming?" Just spontaneously! This is huge because he does not even call me Mommy unprompted. To see that he notices that I am gone and communicated a curiosity is blowing my mind. God is gracious in every circumstance. He will always provide a joy somewhere for us.

give all of those on my prayer list one of those gifts of joy. I love

how you expressed it.

When Karac was suffering so much from anxiety and having such a hard

time I quoted the scripture to him, " He doesn't despise or disdain the

suffering afflicted one; he doesn't hide his face from him , and he

listens to his cry for help " . Karac sometimes would say, " amen " or " He

always does " . I can tell you that I can't remember a time when God

didn't answer Karac's prayer to be calm.

Thank you for sharing that gift of joy and please continue to share

The computer is a peak skill for him. He can play games but is only interested in children's topics; barney, sesame street, magic school bus, dora, etc. My older son says he doesn't like video game systems because his fine motor skills are not good. He can do more than I can on the computer; change the background, the graphics, etc. He learned to right clic before I did. He watchhes old kids videos on you tube, but goes to nothing inappropriate. His computer is in the family room and someone is always with him. He types in the name of the stores where he wants to shop to see if the new videos have come in yet. Stuff like that. He loves Christmas music and listens to it half of the year.

kinda sounds like my son although his love is Power Rangers and a Lego game he found somewhere - his computer is currently broken so he has to use mine or his dads we have all the security buttons on so he shouldn't get in too much trouble.

He knows how to do much more than I do on the computer - but hey he has a computer class the teacher should be showing him what to do. He does not like video games like Wii, Playstation or anything like that - he does have a DS but is not addicted to it like some kids. He definitely is addicted to the t.v., and is so obsessed with what comes on when that if we are out he starts to panic if he finds out he cannot get back in time to watch his shows. Now if we prepare him he is okay - but we are just figuring out the times of his favorite shows.

I had an NT son like that. I bet I logged1000 hours on Brothers. But then he grew up.

would rather be alone, doing his own thing. I think homeschool would have been easier if he had wanted someone with him. The computer skills are all he has and all he wants to do. He can read, but hates to. He can color and do puzzles but it is like work to get him to do any of it. And anything new, he just rejects.

Does Karac like golf or bowling or anything like that? jumps on the trampoline when he needs sensory input and likes to swing, but if he is having a bad sensory day, he wants someone to swing him. When he was younger, he liked putt-putt, throwing at a target, riding in a wagon, baseball, and basketball even though he could never ring the basket. But after he was on antidepressants he became afraid to go out side and lost interest in everything. If we would get a fly in the car, we had to stop on the side of the road and get it out.

His behavior is not as bad since he stopped eating KFC. We let him have that one day for lunch and the next morning he was banging his head again. It is just loaded with MSG.

My son has severe autism, but he can use a computer for what he wants. We are trying to make use of those skills for communication, but it is going very slowly.
