Hi Rose.

My name is Terry & I live just outside of Phoenix "northwest Phoenix metro area. You sure have your work cut out for you. I am into my 7th month of peg-intron treatment. As of my last Doctor's vist "3 weeks ago" I have lost 32 lbs. I had been wanting to shed 40 lbs or so anyway. But this a rough way to shed them. I have been fatigued more then I haven't seance starting treatment. But I have only had slightly thining hair. For the most part I have put everything on hold. Anything I need to do around the house. I have put on hold till after I am off of treatment. Anything that I can't put on hold, I am paying to have done. I save all of my energy for my job. With all of that I have missed 4 days of work & left early about 5 time's. With all of this I have decidded to stay on treatment.

If our daughter was in need of my care. I don't know if I would stay on treatment. I would have to walk in your shoes to know what I would do. That is one of the great things about this group. We have members who decidde to be on treatment & those who do not. Everyone supports everyone no matter how you decidde to deal with this or not deal with it.

I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Hi Rose

Welcome to the group. I think that many find that the side effects are

pretty bad. Maybe later you can start again.

Rose, welcome to the group. Has your dr. checked your

thyroid? The meds can suppress the thyroid and cause

severe fatigue. It happened to me. I'm now on

Synthroid and doing MUCH better. Also drinking tons of

water has been helpful to me. I have 4 teens at home

and need all the energy I can get. I would fully

understand your stopping treatment although personally

I would try to make it. Are you on anti-depressants?

That might help. Have they checked your viral load

since starting. I know I was able to keep going once I

knew it was working. There have been many times I've

wanted to stop but I've only got 10 weeks to go and I

know I'll make it now. If they can't find a solution

to your fatigue I can fully understand going back to

your normal life, but I bet you want to be there in 30

years for your daughter as well as now.Keep us posted

and this group will be there to be supportive no

matter what you choose.

I went to the website. What a beautiful place. I was

looking at all the pictures and names. I only went

through March but I didn't see any boys. What are the

odds of a boy having tourettes?

Hi,

Really sorry for all that you are going through....the website is

great and your daughter looks like a great girl.

I haven't started treatment yet, just signed up yesterday for my

number. I was supposed to start this treatment 2 years ago and the

doctors thought my daughter had lupus - it turned out to be a second

episode of mono with the epstein-barr virus. Not nearly as

complicated as yours. However, with all the running around, tutors

as my daughter was in her senior year at high school, and her

sickness I decided not to do the treatment. I have even moved from

Long Island NY to Orlando, FL where the climate has been better for

her health and mine. Mothers are known to move mountains for our

children. So I do understand what you are going through.

Life is never easy, I guess you have broad shoulders. If you have 6

months under your belt and are responding.....try very hard to stay

with it. Then you will be well and have MORE time to devote to your

daughter and the rest of your family FOREVER!

Whatever you decide I am sending best wishes your way.

Many people must discontinue for one reason or another. It's no picnic and life doesn't just stop moving and wait for you to get better. I was undetectable at 6 mos and now at 18 mos (I ended treatment at 12 mos) I am still undetectable. I wish you all the best. I was lucky to have a lot of help in getting through my day to day routines. -dz- myrettangel wrote:

I also was on tx for 6 months but did not respond and had to be stopped

due to my white count. My hair fell out and the darned stuff still

doesn't grow long. It reaches a certain length and breaks off.... I have

a rare bleeding disorder and can never do any form of Interferon

again..... The d's just watch me... We all know what a good job they do

too. Don't we???? I will never forget that hospital stay.

Hi Diane, I'm hanging in there. I had mentioned before about my test results coming back. My #s are highhhhhhhh! but the good news is that there is no cancer which I'm happy to say. I have another appointment with a different DR. on August 1, I'm not sure if I like the one I have he never wants to see me or anything .He just says wait for the treatment. Well I need someone more personal one that at least shows some concern so I will see and let the group know how it went, Have a good weekend and I'm always listening Debbie

Hi, Debbie

the good news is that there is no cancer which I'm happy to say.

That must be a relief, I'm sure.

He just says wait for the treatment. Well I need someone more personal one that at least shows some concern

I know exactly what you mean! I wish you could have my doctor. He genuinely cares about how I'm doing and trying to ease my discomfort level. Let us know how it goes with the new doc.

Kind regards,

Hi Debbie,

If you don't feel comfortable with you Dr. then by all means you

should at least get another oppinion and go from there. I just changed

my Dr. that I have been with for years. When I got real sick it was like

he showed no compassion. He was never that way before. Or maybe he was

and I didn't see thru him..... I still remember you when I think of the

loss of my close friend. I hope you are doing ok Debbie. I will pray for

you and your loss........ Good hearing from you!!!! ;o I am here if you

need to talk.

Debbie,

Don't worry about changing doctors. I am on my fourth and I think this is it. The first one had a factory.....all he wanted were the office visits he was going to get. The second one had told me that I had no scarring, everything was great, but that I SHOULD take the treatment. Never explained what stage I was in etc. The we moved from NY to Orlando,FL, found the third gastro, too busy, couldn't get thru to the office, nasty, rude.

I took 's advice - look for a caring one.....well I think I've found him.

It's your health and body. If you don't feel comfortable with the doctor, change them as often as you want until you feel comfortable with the right one.

Hope all works out for you.

Best wishes,

Maxine Begonja

Hello everyone

I am a newby in this group. Regarding physicians. I am treating with a gastrointologist who specializes in treating Hepatitis Liver cases. Your primary physician most likely needs to refer you to this kind of specialist. He knew exactly how to treat you.
