I had problems with shrimp myself, but not with Bee's

egg drink. I think she's right, it's the sulphites.

I have had this problem now for almost 2 years, a very bad ache in my stomach

and not being able to " produce " anything and the pain gets worse if I do get the

feeling of needing to go to the bathroom.

I went to the dr and they did an endoscopy on me.

And I was dx'd with acid reflux disease, I have a lot of small ulcers lining my

stomach and esophagus its also very red and swollen they said.

The Dr. put me on an antacid and lots of fiber and something for my nausea,

and at 1st this worked and the pain went away and I was able to " produce " .

but then the pain came back so they then added another not stopping the 1st one

just adding.. and again the pain went away and I was able to produce but only

for awhile I am now on 4 separate antacids and some pain killers.. but again it

has all came back.. the medicine only work for awhile.

I will be returning to my doctor this next week. And I don't want any more meds

I want them to fix my problem whatever it is.

My son has had severe stomach pain and is also on Naproxen. He would

go doubled over in pain. What finally worked for him was ...

Prilosec in the morning, pepcid with each Naproxen and also

prescription Miralax. I guess the combination dealt with any ulcer-

like symptoms from the Naproxen and also any digestive issues which

sometimes accompanies JRA in certain kids. He never appeared

constipated or had " bathroom " issues but an X-ray showed otherwise.

The rheum. mentioned that some JRA kids have trouble fully emptying

their systems. It is working (keep the fingers crossed) and saves

him from having to undergo the scope with the GI folks. Hope you find

answers soon.

That's interesting!? Lexi had an endoscopy about a year and a half ago for the

appetite issues, and because it was a few months after having the flu, JRA

flare-up, and major asthma issues all at once - they found a bacterial fungus in

her esophagus.? The weird thing is, they didn't immediately find it, but after

letting the culture grow for 6 weeks, then they called and said they " grew " a

fungus on her culture.? They put her on a short term antibiotic to treat it, and

they said they think she had it from the inhaled steroid from her asthma flare

up.? I'm curious if they should look for that again, but I don't see how that

would affect her stomach.? Maybe Lexi also has acid reflux???

I didn't know about the common issues with JRA and digestive issues!? Hmmm,

maybe I should've asked her rheumy at the Dec. appt.

Hi :

Hannah had severe stomach pain this summer.  We were referred to a GI doctor who

did both an endoscopy & colonoscopy.  They found her stomach was full of ulcers

and determined the cause was Motrin.  Hannah did not take this everyday, but

enough to apparently cause damage.  They put her on Nexium twice per day for 6

mos.  We are now trying to stop the Nexium and have instructions that she can

take it when her stomach is acting up.  Her medical record now also lists an

allergy to NSAIDs and they said she can never take them again.  Lexi could very

well have NSAID intolerance.  It is also very possible that she could have acid

reflux, given that she also has asthma.  They often go hand in hand as well.  It

would definitely be worth mentioning to her doctor.

Just curious---have they tested her and your other daughter for celiac disease?

If not, I would suggest that. You can do an elimination diet and see if that

helps.

They tested Lexi for celiac because they said it's very common for JRA,

hypothyroid, and celiac to go hand in hand, however the tests came back

negative.? They've never tested my oldest daughter for celiac but they said that

for her, since her pain is almost ALWAYS in the mornings before she eats, they

don't link it to a food issue.

my daughters GI has her on Cyproheptadine for stomach pain.  She recently had a

biopsy of her stomach and blood tests.  She has gastritis and finally we have

discovered, hopefully, the main culprit.  She is allergic to eggs!!!  Good luck

Thanks - the only frustrating thing is that it usually takes a very long time to

even get to a GI doctor!?

My husband has done 9 rounds with DMSA and ALA. It happened now already a few

times on chelation days that he had a terrible pain in his stomach, which

lessened after he went to the toilet and had stools.

Could this be a side-effect of the chelation?

We just received the results of a stool test, it seems he has some kind of

candida. (c. glabrata, and I think he has this candida already many years))

Could his pain be related to the candida?
