Hi Edith,

The protein in Green Kamut is not 'protein', per se, but

amino acids, the building blocks of protein. The main

problem with the ingestion of normal protein foods (animal

products), which have to be broken down before they can be

used, are the by-products of their digestion, which are

highly toxic (uric acid being chief among them). You do not

have that problem with the green foods, because the

'protein' is already broken down into its constituent

components. This is why the green foods have been called

'nature's own steroids', because they provide the absolute

best form of protein for building healthy tissue (skin,

sinew, muscle, tendon, etc etc etc).

Do not worry, Edith. If you ingested an entire container

every day, you would still have no problem with it, you

would just be wasting it (your body only needs so much

nutrition, and the rest is eliminated) - unless, of course,

you were highly toxic, in which case you might have some

cleansing reactions.

Hey all, I noticed someone mentioned that they make a shake with protein

powder and save it for a couple of days. You should keep in mind, that

many of these proteins will break down if not consumed immediately and

it is recommended that you only prepare enough to drink right away.

Also soy milk is alot easier for many folks who cannot tolerate milk

and the vanilla flavor (Vitasoy is my favorite) takes the edge off of

the bean taste, great over cereal or in smoothies.

Finally, don't forget good old tuna and peanut butter or nuts. All are

a good source of protein.

Hello all,

First, I am sorry to hear of the troubles some of you are having, I know

that I too have been very slow the last 3 months. Jon, I am going to

have to kick your ass, because we were neck and neck and you have shot

ahead me by leaps and bounds. I am working out, but not dieting. I

try to eat well and just started on the protein thing regularly, but

it is very frustrating. I just have to be happy that I have lost 65

pounds so far...I cannot imagine where I would be without the surgery.

Second, congrats to all of you who are doing so well and reaching milestones.

I am so happy for you!

Anyway, the reason I am writing is that I have been reading alot about

folks having trouble with the protein shake and I can identify. The

first stuff I bought was so horrible that even thinking about it now

makes me want to gag. So I held off for awhile until I found the Vitalady.com

site. I strongly encourage all of you to check it out. She sells samples

so you can find one you like before you commit to purchasing a whole

bunch of it. My search was tough because I wanted one without artificial

sweetners or sugar. I found several options with Stevia and have now

purchased three different types that I can alternate.

They are low in carbs and low in sugar and each scoop is 27g protein.

I am serious...check it out now and get some samples. I admit I got

several I did not like, but did not have to buy a whole container before

I realized it.

if I'm male and lose quicker? (By the way, I have the sense I've

settled into my first lengthy plateau; time will tell.)

We use Unipro's Perfect Protein, vanilla, made by Metagenics. Its ingredients

are pure and clean and it is very low carbo. It costs a bit more but the

quality is well worth the extra

expense.

I am looking for a protein supplement also and am considering SoyaMax.

I just bought some whey protein powder at my health food store, I

have no idea if it's very good or not, but it does have less arginine

than lysine and that is important to me. My health food store only

had rice protein powders or whey protein powders. Is rice a complete

protein? I thought you had to mix it with beans.........

Ken,

I have been told this by several Dr.s when we go over my diet, I

always forget to get protein in, most protein foods seem so heavy to

me, I seem to have an aversion to protein. I just had a bioresonance

hair test done which showed blood sugar imbalance (I used to be

hypoglycemic, maybe I am again). Recently I have been so stressed

and hence eating lots of sugar. Sugar is my worst enemy, I am even

highly allergic to it in addition to all the other bad affects of

sugar. The two most important things for straightening out the blood

sugar problem is 1) avoid sugar 2) eat some protein every 3 hours.

It was not a blood test, but I have no doubt that I have blood sugar

problems.

My wife has a real aversion to protein. She get a blood test every 4

months to check various chemical levels, i.e. iron, protein, sodium ect.

The past two blood exams have been okay.

Her primary source of protein comes from oatmeal and non-fat organic

yogurt. Other sources of protein comes from bee pollen, eggs, rice milk,

rice,

and lentils. She also takes 6 tablets of SEACURE and spiruliana. She also

drinks 7 glasses of green vegetable/apple juice and 5 glasses of apple

carrot juice. Also eats two raw spinach salads a day.

In the past, she had a real problem of keeping her iron and protein levels

within the normal range. I think the Seacure and the spirulina have been

real helpful. She goes for another blood test over the 4 the of July so we

will see.

When it comes to nutrition most MD's are clueless. Find an alternative

doctor

or health practioner.

I have a bottle of Seacure sitting in my cabinet that was sold to me by a

doctor. It was horrendously expensive and I did not seem to tolerate it?

One is to take 6 pills a day and six pills provides 2 g of protein which is

only 1% of a 2,000 calorie diet. Surely that is not enough protein? It also

contains " natural flavoring " . Hmmmm, wonder just what that might be? MSG??

:0 Should contact the company and find out.

A really excellent one I know of that is not soy based is called SeaCure. It is white fish that has been enzymatically processed and is " predigested " so to speak. It contains all the omega oils in the fish and is a really remarkable product. So a web search on Seacure and see what you find. I have seen stories of people with crohns disease getting well on seacure, as well as many other diseases.

Considering the recent info that was posted on the fact that protein powders cause calcium loss, I would recommend Seacure over any other capped protein source.

Hi , Well, knowing that, I would highly recommend that you research the Seacure that I mentioned before. It is supposed to be wonderful for balancing sugar levels.

I'm with you, . Maybe that's why I don't do well with a lot of

breakfast foods, because they're usually sugary or bready. Bread

is good for me, but I need fats and protein too to feel my best.

That's interesting Donna. I can feel quite hyper after breakfast if I'm not

careful what I eat. I'm usually adding brazil nuts, cashews or almonds to

my muesli and yoghurt - just to bump up the protein and fat content.

Anybody out there got any great breakfast ideas?
