It is physically impossible to get in 90 grams of protein only

eating three 1/4 cup meals! I just do not see that it is physically

possible to do that. I think 60-90 grams is the goal long term, when

you can eat three 3/4 cup meals a day. I'm going to check with Beth

Wagner and I'll let everyone know what she says next week. I don't

do protein drinks and Beth does NOT want me to do them.

Tina- I agree and that is why i often do a protein shake in the morning, for me so far it does fill me up,i am lazy in the morning and dont want to eat a lot, and i can drink the shake on my way to work and then finish it once i am there. There is no way at 4 mths out i can eat my protein in a day, later on that may change, but for now that is what i do

I really don't want to do them either but my protein shake that I have are 90 calories the glucerna are 210 and I am only 1month out had my surg 5-16-05. I had blood transfusion after the procedure and then my colon shut down one week after that. My blood levels are still on the low side so my Dr. is insisting that I up my calories I don't want to go out and buy a large container of protein shake mix because I don't think I would use it as I get bored with it easily.

I start back to work on monday part time for one week 4.5 hours a day. The lightheadedness sucks since I can walk a few steps then get it and it seems to last longer each time I do get it and it doesn't happen all the time. I think my Dr. is a little bit optomistic with 900 calories right now I did make it to 780 yesterday but I was so full no room for anything at all. I'm either eatting or drinking something all day long I'd rather not have anything but my water because I'm not hungury but I do know I have to nourish myself so I force myself to do it. How does the shake Kaiser recommends taste nd where can you get it? Thanks for the advice

I took a look at the nutritional info on the Glucerna shakes, and can NOT recommend them! The first problem is the source of the protein, which is 80% caseinates and 20% soy, neither of which is a good source for us. We just don't absorb it as well. When was your surgery? I agree, you probably do need more calories, but try to make them good calories. Perhaps adding some more complex carbs? There is one other thing to keep in mind. You just had major surgery. It may have been lap, and your little incisions may have healed, but that does not alter the fact that people were fiddling around in your innards with sharp instruments. It does take time for your body to recover. Feeling a bit weak and tired at this point is not unexpected!Hope that helps a bit!Rose wrote:> Well I do have at least one protein

Hey, Rose, if you are coming to our meeting next Thursday, I can

bring you a sample or two of Pro-Complex. That way you don't have

to buy a big container of it.

Do you want Chocolate or Vanilla or both?

start back to work on monday part time for one week 4.5 hours a day. Thanks for the advice> Rose

Good luck with your treatments, hope all goes well, will keep you in my

prayers.

Marla

Rose--

I am familiar with MRSA, we had

several residents with it. I surely hope that this is not that.

grrrrrrr...... Its a hard one to get rid of.

I will take the antibiotic till its

gone. Its hard to get it timed correctly though, as it is to be

taken every 6 hours and without food... So it makes it tricky.

-- The Lord bless you and keep you:

The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you:

The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
