That depends Aliceanne,

I do customer support for a cell phone company and since their

signals bounce from tower to tower, they can be affected if there is

enough damage to the towers. However, even when a tower is damaged

the calls can usually be rerouted through other towers so you are

more likely to get a call through eventually at least. The problem

comes when so many towers in one location must be bypassed that the

working towers get congested from all the reroutes.

I would definitely consider a cell phone a great thing to have for

backup even if I didn't do customer support for them. :)

LOL! My mother often wonders why I moved here, knowing how much I like

the snow and cold - NOT! I got my first job out of college at the

newspaper here, and then I met my husband, and so I guess that means I'm

staying. :)

Thanks for the info. I wondered about that. When I got the phone and cell

there was confusion when I switched to digital. Something about my being

between two towers. We finally got it straightened out. So I guess if

there is a congestion that would certainly cause a problem.

Actually I like the cold. It is the snow and ice that I fear more than

anything. Having gone through 7-spinal surgeries I avoid going anywhere

when there is any kind of snow or threat of it. We are supposed to go to

an ice storm before the whole thing is over. From the latest news, I guess

the storm has reached most of NJ now. I have my radio stationed to NJ so I

am curious and worried about my friends gathering in NY to know what

happened to Staten Island and NY City.

We've had nothing but rain here in New Bern. It finally stopped. My yard

looks like a swamp. My poor Beagle sank up to his neck.

Sounds like my yard.. my back yard looks like a rice paddy and my dogs look at

me funny when I let them out.

Re: Snow

We've had nothing but rain here in New Bern. It finally stopped. My yard

looks like a swamp. My poor Beagle sank up to his neck.

Betty, It's very hard to impress a cat anyway. My parents are on the RI/CT

line. Haven't heard from them yet. Sure hope they have phone service. Is your

Maine Coon the same size as my Beagle? I've seen some that big. Stay warm!

Well...................or should I say SNOW.....................I am in MA,

about 10 miles from the Cape Cod Canal. It is snowing so fast we can't keep

up with it. The rumor is that we will get 1-2 feet. At least it is not 20

below out like it has been. We have had so much snow this year. I usually

like one big storm (like this) and then some nice warm weather for it all to

go away quickly. I have had enough and am ready for some gardening.

Anyway.................just my 2 Cents!

Nope! Thankfully dodged the bullet- just had some sleet, lite snow, rain, the storm passed by just brushing us at the edge- I am Thankful!

Love and blessings,

Ina
