I forgot to mention that my 'private health insurance' is $1,030.00 per

year. That only covers me for 'private hospital' and all treatments whilst

in hospital including the doctor of my choice. Also all ambulance

services. It does not cover me for dental, chiropractic etc. So again,

$2,000.00 US.

Hi Katy,

My PTU is for 45, 50 mg. tables for a one month supply, I take only half a

tab every 8 hours for my eyes. The cost will go up for higher doses, but as

your dose is cut, your costs will be too.

I think it is Pam from Oregon who buys hers bulk and it averages out to a

very low cost and she does not have insurance. Try searching the archives

for drug costs and see if you can find our thread on this from last year.

Hi Sue,

Tapazole usually runs here for generic on my insurance plan 10.00 a month

regardless of the amount. But the amount is $100.90 for generic for a 30 day

supply of 150 tablets.... Thank goodness for my insurance

Yup, what is really annoying is we used to have a straight co-pay ($5 for

generics, $10 for name brand). The someone in their infinite wisdom in the

university switched us to a deductable. WITHOUT informing anyone before

hand.

Pretty close, I was paying about $15-20 for the generics.

Katy,

You can price drugs on Drugstore.com without buying. Good place to check.

A friend of mine married a man from Sydney 2 years ago and I know he lost

money when changing it from Aussie funds to American...about half, so I am

confused too...will have to ask when we see them again.

I'm in Oklahoma City, OK, and without any insurance benefits, my tapazole

generic for 90 tablets, 10mg/a piece, it's $120.00 ( that's a three month supply

for me). So even the prices here in the states very from place to place.

That is OUTRAGEOUS! I don't know the cost of name brand Tapazole here, or

it's generic counterpart, but PTU for 45 tables (1 month supply) run me

$8.59 ! I can't believe how expensive that is there. I do know many of our

other drugs are out of sight in costs here though.

Take care,
