Hi all,

sorry been out of action. OH, and Sorry about missing the weekly

challenge too...hope it's ok if we resume next week. Am on no mail

right now and probably will be for the next 2 weeks.

Anyway, crazy week so far. DH was in an auto accident yesterday and

his car was totalled...he's ok though so that's what's important.

Besides that, our escrow is supposed to close today but there are

some problems!!! Have been frantically calling insurance company to

get a policy on the new home because a clerical error on their part

is holding up the closing...argh!!!! Plus, they need MORE documents

relating to the gift check that we received from 's

parents...WHY NOW?!!! Now we have to run around town getting

documents and statements, etc. and try to get it there before 3:00 in

the afternoon. Plus have to deal with a wrecked car and have only 1

car between us and we work in opposites ends of town...actually, not

even in the same town!!!

So nervous and on edge that haven't eaten aything all day except a

doughnut here at work (that's all that was available and I didn't

have time to plan...)

count your blessings!! Don't worry- it will resolve itself . I know

the stress you are under with the house- we went through something

similar 12 yrs ago when we moved from our last home to this one. We

that we were selling because the sale of our old house fell through(

buyers didn't qualify) and here we were 10 days before closing with

no one to buy our place so that we could move into our new home

AAGGHH!! What stress! I remember it like it was yesterday!

Fortunately our realtor was a gem of a woman who had the $$ to buy it

from us and resold it a month later. Well, good luck, this too shall

pass( my mom's favorite saying)

OMG!!! I am so sorry to hear about dh's accident, but at least he wasn't

hurt!!!! I know from experience what a pain house closings can be. I used to

work for Prudential Insurance and we were always trying to get homeowners

policies worked out and ready for closings.

You are in my thoughts and prayers that everything settles down quickly!!!!

Hello everyone! thought I would try to take a minute and give you all and

update. MIL seems to be responding very well to the Chemo. They say that

it has already started to kill some of the leukemia cells, which is very

good news. the fact that they found it so soon is to her advantage. She

did not have this 4 months ago. She's been on the chemo only about three

days and seems in good spirits. She is laying in her bed like a queen and

soaking up all the attention DH is giving her. (he is def. a momma's boy,

she spoils him terribly).

Well I have gained about 8 pounds since going on the cruise and this with

MIL. I thought I had gotten a hold of the " frustration eating " Guess Not!

LOL! I have been soooo good today (it is only 2:00 in the afternoon) but

have great intentions! I have journaled everything and am drinking my water

which I have not done lately. Anyway, I miss you all and will try to keep

checking in when I can. I will be on for about another 30 min then I'm off

again!

diagnosed with leukemia when she was tiny (maybe around 3 years old) and she had

to go through all the chemo, etc. She is now 30 years old married and has two

little girls with no trace of the leukemia. Trust in the LORD and miracles do

happen!!

Don't worry about the gain! I have faith in you that it will come off again

once things settle down! You have already proven that you can do it!

Hi Deb! Sorry to hear about 's illness. As you know, we have been thru the aspiration pneumonia issue with Chelsea over and over! What you described with is similar to what has been observed in Chelsea. She starts to become less and less responsive the sicker she gets, this is also apparent with her O2 sats. The lower she drops, the more out of it she is. Also, breathing becomes difficult and will suck all her energy so she just sleeps and becomes very hard to arouse.

I donot know anything about the other condition, but this is what my handy dandy Mosby's Medical Dictionary has to say:

atelectasis. . . an abnormal condition characterized by the collapse of the alveoli, preventing the respiratory exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen in a part of the lungs. Symptoms may include diminished breath sounds, a midiastinal shift toward the side of the collapse, fever, and increasing dyspnea. As the remaining portions of the lungs hyperinflate, oxygen saturation of the blood is often nearly normal. The condition may be caused by the obstruction if the major airways and bronchioles, by compression of the lung as a result of fluid or air in the pleural space, or from pressure from a tumor outside the lung. Loss of functional lung tissue may cause a secondarily increased heart rate. Secretions retained in the collapsed alveoli are rich in nutrients for bacterial growth, a condition often leading to stasis pneumonia in critically ill patients. . . .

I hope you find the cause of these recent issues, this is not a fun guessing game! I will keep in my prayers, that he gets better soon!

Now on the pneumonia side we have had both aspiration and bacterial pneumonia

and in both cases he had a sudden onset. In fact, on one occasion he was at

the ped on Wed and his lungs were clear and by Friday they were both full of

junk. I never would have known it as he was punky but not coughing as much as

I would have thought and his temp was not terribly high.

I'm sorry to hear about . I saw you got some good informative

responses. I just thought I would chime in as well...I work in a

NICU and atelectasis, better known as collapsed lung is somewhat

common in pre-term babies, also in babies with meconium aspiration

pneumonia. I know these don't directly apply to since he is

not a newborn, but it does seem as if the two atelectasis and

pneumonia can be related. Hope things are doing better.
