Yes, this is exactly my goal! I could not express it in a sentence!

Amazingly, I'm finding that the better my nutrition is, the less I crave food

that has no nourishment. Could it be because my body is finally getting the

nutrients it needs?

Not that I never crave junk, I do. It's mostly when I let myself get too hungry,

though. And then I eat the junk, but no longer half a gallon of ice cream or a

package of cookies. For the first time lately, I've felt my head spinnning due

to having eaten too much sugar. I've heard about sugar having an effect on

people like that, but I'd always eaten it so regularly that I never felt what it

was like, I suppose because I was in a constant sugared state. My body really

feels amazinly good now.

-- this is amazing. I was thinking about that very thing just this morning. It just came to mind. Probably about the same time you were writing it, actually, looking at the time!What a concept: "Just don't go there," regarding impulse control. We CAN control impulses, we CAN set boundaries, we DO have control. Thanks for this.Ellie If there's ANY doubt in my mind, I just make it non-negotiable that I'm not even supposed to go look at the food. God

gave me a parallel that helped a LOT with maintaining it. I'm a happily

married woman who cringes if someone other than my husband even flirts with me. But I'm downright disturbed if I feel attraction in return. So I've started building an emotional "wall" of sorts in those situations. I

don't joke with them, I make sure I'm never alone with them, I minimize

eye contact, etc--all in an effort to prevent any tempting situations arising. I don't even allow (what might seem like harmless) flirting b/c

I know that's where affairs begin--and my

family means too much to me to risk that. So that's how I protect myself. What God pointed out was that even going to look at the food unless I'm truly hungry is the equivalent of flirting with it, and making it non-negotiable that I have to be hungry 1st is putting up a protective wall. So far it's worked!

Can I ask a question? I have been participating in IE since January 2010. It has

been an EXTREMELY liberating experience and I feel that I am at complete peace

with myself and my eating. However, though I hate to bring this up, I haven't

lost weight. I know we are not supposed to be focusing on weight loss but I

thought I would have lost some by now. I am overweight, not at a healthy weight,

and not comfortable and I'm not sure what to do about it. Does anyone have any

suggestions or help? I am not sure what to do.

I've resorted to those a time or two. Your library probably does the same and

can borrow from another library for you.

I'm pretty much in the same place as you, began Jan 2010, feel like my diet is

much more nutritious, no restrict/binge cycles, but neither have I lost weight.

In listening to some IE CDs I'm keeping in my car, the answer to that is that

the person is probably not eating only when hungry or stopping when satisfied,

there being a difference between full and satisfied. It also says that IE is NOT

eating what your mind wants, but IS eating what your body wants, and what your

body generally wants once you get past the rebound from restriction is

nutrition. It is not eating endless amounts of junk food for a long period, but

maybe for a few weeks at the beginning of your transition into IE.

In being honest with myself, it's been a gradual process for me to learn those

things. I am hopeful that there is a point at which I will turn a corner and

begin to lose weight if I keep on taking those baby steps in that direction.

Hi Sara,

Thanks so much for your input! I found your advice to be very helpful. I admit,

I need to focus more on fueling my body for its health and not only feeding my

mind. I feel like I've allowed myself to do that for a whole year and am at the

point where I am at complete peace with food. Where did you get those CD's?
