I had a recent brain MRI as well, I don't think it included the

brainstem. I went to a web site about the Chiara malformation and

neither my husband nor I felt like I was a close fit for all of the

symptoms. I recently developed high blood pressure too. I don't know

that they are really trying to figure out what caused it, only get it

under control. We are still working on that. At the doctor's today, it

was 146/82 which is the best it's been in months!

Sounds like it might be gastroenteritis, honey -- fancy name for a stomach

bug. We are having TONS of people in the ERs right now with this, some

with fever, some not. Not much you can do, but if it keeps on more than

two or three days you should get yourself checked out. Dehydration is a

possibility. And I could be wrong, too, so you probably ought to go to see

your doc in any case. You may need an anti-emetic of some kind (Compazine,

etc.). Don't let it go on too long without getting medical attention.

I don't think it's that. It last's maybe 12 to 14 hours, I've had it about

4 times this year. I usually know when I'm gonna have it by the way the

headache feels, when it gets to the point that I just can't stand it

anymore, I take the imitrex and if I don't vomit it back up, the headache

usually goes away within an hour or 2, but I usually have little energy

afterwards. I'm real tired and just want to sleep. The next day, I feel

ok, close to normal. No one in my family has had it but me.

Thanks for the info though. I think the next time it happens, I'm going to

the hospital and let them run test and see if something may be outta whack.

Well, if you're taking Imitrex that means you've already been diagnosed

with migraines -- and they sure can make you barf up your toenails when

they really get going. Do you get any warning signs before a

migraine? Any kind of aura, like vision or olfactory changes? My

migraines sorta make my vision freaky beforehand; unfortunately, due to my

BP and taking Prozac, I cannot take Imitrex. Fortunately I only get

migraines a few times a year.

You still might ask your doc for an anti-emetic to have on hand. Have you

thought about taking the Imitrex at the first signs of a migraine? You say

you know how it feels -- maybe you should take it earlier? Might keep the

nausea away, at least.

Best,

Em

I don't take the imitrex very often, she gave me some samples (4) I think in

March or April and I just finished those Thursday. Before I even started

taking those I was barfing. No warning signs before hand, just know when I

feel the headache coming on that it's going to be one of " those! " I don't

get migraines but a few times a year. I have taken the imitrex before the

headache got bad, except for this last time, it was too far into it and that

is why I barfed most of it up. Strange thing is that each time I have it,

it's not as bad as the time before. Which I am so grateful for, but I'd

just like to know what the heck is causing it. I think I'm gonna be checked

out the next time it is happening, that way they can tell if something is

off whack, rather than waiting til later and it's all over with.

Rhonda,

When you know that the headache is coming why can't you take the Imitrex

before it get really bad. Or are the medication instructions that you can't

take it until your headache is already there. I would think that you would

take it before the headache gets bad or do you have an interaction to the

medication.

I usually do take it when I feel it coming on, but this last time, for some

reason, I didn't. And I paid for it! I have to go have the script filled,

I never did fill it cause I don't use them that often, maybe I'll just go

get more samples.

Interesting Em, I thought in order for it to be a bug, you had to have a

temp. I got something very similar on Halloween night. Started by

throwing up, then getting hot and cold, and diarrhea. The vomiting

stopped after the evening, but I spent the next two weeks with very

loose stools. Any time I peed, I had no control over my bowels. I

thought since I didn't run a temp, it wasn't a bug. Gradually

everything became normal.

I NEVER have a fever regardless of how sick I am. I can feel like death warmed
