i am not saying this to be mean, just food for thought, but you may want to

reexamine how close together you want to have a baby then weight loss

surgery, especially if you are planning on breastfeeding. even if you dont

plan on breastfeeding your body is going to be exhausted from pregnancy,

delivery and then all the energy you will need to take care of a newborn. to

complicate your body system more by adding another surgery right after

childbirth or in the first several months would be taxing to your system. i

myself thought about having my panni during my maternity leave but am trying

to talk myself out of it as i would run the risk of not being able to care

for my baby as best as i should.. just food for thought, if you will pardon

the pun, not making a judgement on your idea. best of luck to you.. lisa edc

I'm not a doctor, so you'll definitely need to check with your bariatric

surgeon, but I think the standard minimum is like six weeks... ?

I am due in March and was thinking of having my thighs and belly done in

the summer. Since I want to nurse for 6 months, I have decided to put it off

until next Christmas. It will also give me a chance to lose a bit more

weight. Not to mention the fact that I won't have to be bound like a mummy

during the summer!

, I too want to have my thighs and stomach done eventually. I say

eventually because I will most likely have to pay out of pocket, as I have

different insurance today then I had during my WLS. Have you done any research

on this yet? I havent, starting from scratch, so I was just curious.

Marcy,

The same doc who did my arms will be doing the belly. He says that I

could do it as little as 3 months after delivery provided that I am at

prepartum weight. My insurance should cover the belly. I am building a case

for the thighs since I get this rash and dry itch. It is the pits. I have

the body of two different women! My upper body is about a 12-14 while my

lower is an 18-20! Most of that lower body issue is this flippin skin! I am

having my seamstress make me a slip girdle for when I can't wear a regular

one. I can't imagine shaking and jiggling my way through the next 6 months!

I've been thinking about that as well, does anyone know if it would be possible

to have an RNY at the same time as a c-section??

Thanks for enlightening me. I was hoping to have surgery, lose

weight, wait about 18 months and have the baby. But by surprise, when

you least expect it, I got pregnant. So my plans have changed. And I

decided that this was better anyway. I don't plan to have any more

children after this one. So having the WLS afterwards works well. I

am anxious for the WLS becuase I am so uncomfortable. And I was hopig

to have at least one pregnancy where I at least felt good. But I am

here again with the worst hip and leg pains because of the pressure

of the baby combined with my weight. Thanks again for responding.

Hi Jana,

I had my surgery August 27, 2001, and I got pregnant on June 1, 2002. So

far, I have gained about 15-18 lbs during my pregnancy. The docotrs say I

have gained what the " average " person would gain being pregnant. I have also

had a hard time making the best food decision since becoming pregnant. I

hope this helps & best of luck to you!

Also, I just had my ultrasound and the baby is healthy and developing at a

normal rate. Her size and weight and everything is one week older than she

really is.

Hi Jana,

I got pregnant 9 mos. post op (LAP proximal RNY) and was still about

40 to 50 lbs from goal. I didn't gain any weight with the

pregnancy...lost 12 at the beginning and only gained back 8 lbs of

that. I had a perfectly healthy baby girl in May. She was 7 lbs 2

oz.

Good luck!

Thanks for letting me know what happened with you. I'm eating good and taking

my vitamins...so I'm sure we'll be fine. I'm a first time mother and of

course I'm paranoid about EVERYTHING!!! Thanks again!
