Guest guest
, I can only imagine what a scare you had. Poor thing. I'm glad everything is better now. It does help put things in perspective though doesn't it? I've never heard of slapped face but it sounds scary by the name. Hope it isn't anything serious. Did you say she has foot and mouth disease too or did I misunderstood. Take care and give Charlotte a lovely big hug and kiss from her aunty Poly. Guest guest
Hi , It sounds sike you already know what to expect, since you have already done this twice. Sorry you ahve to go througth it again. I am 6 days post-op from a TT. Sutures out and steristrips in place. My voice gets better every day, although I'm still not able to yell at my kids :-). My talking voice is normal, and my incisional pain is minimal. No shoulder pain, thank godness! Best of luck! Having a great surgeon is the most important part, and it sounds like youv'e got one! Guest guest
Christen > I started my LID diet today, and my the one I was given > by my doctor here in LA is pretty restrictive: the only think I AM > allowed is fruit, vegetables, red meat and non-iodized salt. It does sound very restrictive, but I have to say that this is a Very Low Iodine Diet (VLID) (provided that you eat relatively small portions of meat - no flintstones style brontosaurus steaks). I tend to think of this as a 'caveman' diet, because all the ingredients are 'close to nature'. The fact is that these foods (and rice, and simple pasta, black coffee, black tea, most fizzy drinks, simple oils, herbs, spices and a few other foods) are about as low in todine as you can get. Also, with the exception of seafoods, all the high iodine foods (dairy, eat-out, table salt) and all the questionable ones (bread, cans, toothpaste etc) are disallowed because of human intervention, processing, enhancing etc. I intend to write this up in more detail when I get time (ha ha), but I believe that a 2 week, 2 stage LID might be preferred by some of you. The first 10 days to be a RID - Reduced Iodine Diet, reducing the amount of difficult foods over a period of 10 days or so, then doing the VLID for the last 4 days before and 1 day after the RAI. Difficult though this last 5 days might be, it is only 5 days which is better than 2 weeks (or 6 weeks). I have no idea why red meat is allowed but not chicken or pork. In general the paler meats are lower in iodine provided that they haven't been injected, sprayed, cured, smoked or otherwise processed. Bananas and wine are OK too. One other unrelated question-when I go to the > hospital for RAI, am I right in assuming that I cannot keep any > papers when I am discharged (ie: if I want to work on my writing by > hand, can I keep the sheets of paper I write on?) This will depend on local protocols. Discuss it and be firm. Even if they say no, ask them how you could bend their rules (sealed in a poly bag and stashed on top of the wardrobe for 3 months?). Remember that due to geography, some people are sent home with the RAI in them. Guest guest
Ang, I just have to take one quick moment of self-pity and disgust here.... your THIGH is smaller than my CALF. UGH! But great job! I hope I will be there someday, you are an inspiration! 98 inches (more really, since you didn't measure everything from the start) is really amazing! Ok, and now.... 30 lashes with a wet noodle! " Normal sized " person? " Right size " ? These are no-nos! You should never base your own success on anyone else Ang! What one person considers the " perfect body " can be so different from another! And what each BODY considers to be its own perfect size is also a factor. Don't try to get to a certain size, get to what is right for YOUR body! Sorry for the rant, but I hate to see you falling prey to this kind of thinking after accomplishing SO much! But really, I think the average man realizes that while the " airbrushed bitches " are a pleasure to look at, they are an unrealistic ideal, and they are much happier to have their own real, non-airbrushed, warm woman than a cool, slick, unattainable glossy photo in a magazine! Guest guest
Hi , I do think it is very important that you do maintain a calm image. If you do not agree, instead of getting angry, rephrasing helps. So help me understand, that because my son wears a helmet he cannot come to your school. Even if you know something is totally illegal try to keep your cool. It is also a neat to know your plan and then work it so that the principals/administrators come up with the idea. That really makes them feel in control! You may win and your son will be able to attend school, but will you feel safe with him there is the ultimate question. If they tell you " no " for anything have them state it in writing. Read the notes before you leave and make sure they did not word it in a different way! Good Luck! (unknown) THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP, I'VE WRITTEN DOWN EVERYTHING! I DO FEEL BETTER KNOWING THAT I CAN WALK OUT W/O SIGNING THE IEP, YES HE IS CAPABLE ACADEMICLY, BUT A LITTLE SLOW BECAUSE OF THE INFECTION, BUT HE PLAYS NINTENDO AND COMPUTERS, COLORS, AND IS PROB. 1STGRADE LEVEL READING AND WRITING BUT THEY HAVE A LEARNING DISABLED CLASS THAT JUST STARTED THIS FALL-ONE OF THE TEACHERS TOLD ME AND REALLY UPSET THE PRINCIPAL. THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY THAT BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE A NURSE THERE ON CAMPUS EVERYDAY, AND BECAUSE THEY(THE PRINCIPAL) DONT FEEL EQUIPTED TO HANDLE A 'SEIZURE' THEY DONT WANT HIM THERE AND HE SHOULD BE IN A DIS SCHOOL W/ONE ON ONE ASST. TUESDAY MEETING IS SET, THEY HAVE INVITED AT LEAST 15 PEOPLE TO THIS MEETING. FIRST OF ALL THIS MEETING SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING HE SHOULD BE IN SCHOOL ALREADY, AND I FEEL LIKE I AM BEING AMBUSHED HERE. I REALLY HAVE LEARNED A LOT FROM ALL YOUR EMAILS! I WILL TAKE THEM WITH ME (WITH A PICTURE OF DYLAN ON MY FOLDER). YES, IT IS A PUBLIC SCHOOL, I LIVE AROUND THE BLOCK-I EVEN WENT THERE. I HOPE THAT THEY WILL LET ME BE HIS AID. THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH GOD BLESS GINA
