Hi Sue--

This is my second serious try on Atkins. Previously I lost 22 lbs. and quit,

going back to old eating habits plus all

the rich foods I'd developed a taste for on the diet. Now, I've been on for a

couple on months & have lost 14

lbs.without deprivation. I'm not in a hurry, so I'm proceeding to make this a

life-long way of eating. My doctor,

who got slender on the Atkins diet herself, sugggested this for me. I had my

cholesterol, etc. tested last year and

recently and although my tests were always in the normal range it's nice to see

the numbers have gone down even more

while on the diet. It makes a good defense to people who think one cannot be

healthy eating as we must.

Hello Sue, thank you for the warm welcome.

My name is Debra. I've been doing Atkins since about August of 98. I lost

almost 50 pounds up until Chrismastime and maintained VERY well by " sort of

following " the program until about a month ago. I gained back 10 pounds,

started induction " sorta " 2 weeks ago and have dropped back 5 of them.

I haven't been terribly movitated to lose, but find that watching the carbs

SURE helps maintain the loss! I want to lose more, and need some

motivation to make wise choices. Unfortunately, sweets are the weakness.

No problem, am in Ketosis, but fluctuate 1-2 pounds daily. I imagine it's

just water. No problem getting into Ketosis either, even tho I didn't

follow induction to the letter.

Have to think my problem is just eating too much of the right things?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi, my name is Charlotte and I live in La Mesa, CA. I've been on the Atkins

Diet a little over 4 weeks and have lost 15 lbs. I'm pleased with this as

I'm also diabetic and take oral medications which, according to Dr. Atkins'

book, can slow down weight loss. I'm excited to be able to lose weight and

not feel like I'm starving to death! I'm looking forward to receiving this

newsletter and finding out how others are doing and sharing tips, recipes

and support.

Sue,

Could you please delete my name from your list. It's hard for me to try and

find the time to read the messages and I feel overwhelmed. Thanks, Lynette

Hello Sue and everyone!

My name is . I just started the diet a few days ago. Already I am

bored with the food. My digestive system is messed up! What do I do? I

have tried all kinds of diets but can't seem to loose. I have no

metabolism! I hope I can over come these problems and make this way of

life work! Please, any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Sue,

Thank you for the cookbook offer. has already sent me one via another

list I'm on.

Well my name is Pete. I'm female, married, two kids, four grandkids and one

great grandchild.I have only been on the diet now for about 7 days. Lost two

pounds the first three maybe four days, nothing since. I'm not real active. I

think I'm in ketosis, the stick says moderate. Should I be trying for the

dark purple? And what will I have to do to get it purple? I'm 63 and have

arthritis.Everything hurts really bad. I have ALOT of weight to lose and my

metabolism is dead.I need support, information and a lot of prayer.

Hi Pete welcome again yes even if you are in moderate ketosis you are

losing. You might not see it is weight but it could be in inches. I

lost 30 pounds the first 4 weeks and then in the last two nothing. but

about the begining of the 2nd week I had alot of energy. Doing things

I had always felt to tired to do. So dont worry It will come off just

stick to it. Sue

Hi, I am new to the list. I tried Atkins about 2 months ago and only lasted

1 week. This time around I am on my 3rd week and doing much better. I had

weight loss surgery on June 22, 1998 and lost 121 pounds from that and then

hit a 4 month plateau. Finally the Atkins diet has helped me break that

plateau and my total weight loss is now 133 pounds. I stay pretty basic with

the meat, eggs, cheese and maybe a salad. I like to go out and have the

fajitas and just don't eat the shells. I also have gotten into the Atkin

candy bars (which is odd cause I was never into candy before) and eat one a

day. I hope to hear that people are doing good with this program and maybe

some new things to eat.
