Hi I'm Irene and today is day number one. It's very hard and I have a

headache (carb withdrawal) I guess. I'm leary of this diet and need a lot of

encouragement - like how much weight everyone has lost and their cholesterol

levels and how they feel.

I have always been a carb eater and this goes against everything I believe

it. But people all around me are losing weight and getting healthier. I

want to feel better. I crave sugar all the time and I do believe this is

physical rather than mental.

I tried Overeater Anonamous for awhile, but - while I'm religious (spiritual

I shoudl say). I do believe my binge eating is a physical craving and not

emotional.

Thanks for being there.

Irene

Hi! I am pretty much an Atkins veteran, but with one problem.... I usually

go on Atkins for about 2 months and then go back to my nasty habits!!!

This time I have vowed not to do that. Tomorrow is my 14th day and I am 13

pounds down!!!! I create a lot of recipes because I love to cook. I have

a large collection of recipes if anyone is interested, they range from my

favorite lasagna to chicken salad. I really need the support this time!!

I am looking forward to being a part of the group.

Hi, I started the atkins diet on 4/15/99. I did two

weeks induction and lost 7 pounds, but gained back two

on my third week. This might be because of TOM paying

a visit. I am always looking for new recipes, making

new dishes is my hobby. I am short of good low carb

recipes and always want more

Good Morning from CO

My name is and I've recently reached senior citizen status -

fortunately for me the age limit keeps getting younger each

year, it seems <BG> Married and 6 'kids' are out of the nest

although one bachelor stays with us about a week when he comes to

check on us -often.

So, I just need to vent this and perhaps it will help me to quit

being my own worst enemy.

It seems like every day I am starting Induction. But, a couple

days ago, I really thought I was going to make it. I had a great

low-carb day. The next morning I was really on a high about it

and said several times that I really did it! That afternoon, my

husband had done some shopping and brought a bag of a favorite

candy home and laid it on the table. Well . . .naturally! I

know he really bought it for himself (truly) but *sometimes*

he'll put it on the table and expects me to discipline myself.

He doesn't see the temptation as he can discipline himself to

almost anything. I honestly don't think he even thought about

sabotage - he's not a mean person. I guess when he leaves the

house I should tell him not to bring back any carbs for me. I

just thought of that while I am now typing.

I don't know if there are other ways I can try as well. Do any

of you have trouble with sabotage?

Hello! My name is Terri and I am 29 with 2 children. I had my second in

November and gained 60 pounds with that pregnancy on top of the 60 I had

gained in the previous 2 years. Sooo, I have lost 50 and I have 70 more to

go. I have been doing atkins on and off since Jan. and love the way that I

feel but I get very discouraged when I stall, which leads to cheating which

makes my problem worse. I love having support of list like these and look

forward to reading it daily.

Hi,

I just joined this list after receiving my new " Atkins " book in the mail. I

wasn't sure what this " diet " was like but am wondering if this way of eating

can really be successful full time. Atkins says you eat til you're full but

I'm not sure that I can NOT eat when I'm not hungry. It's a habit to pop

food in my mouth. I can't imagine living without eating carbs but guess I

can try it for 2 weeks. I've been following Weight Watchers but the weight

is coming off very slowly. Thought a jump start with Atkins would help. I'm

100 lbs overweight, 52 yrs. old and crippled with arthritic knees. Physical

therapy (exercise on land and water) is helping a great deal.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences on Atkins way of eating.

Hi Shirley,

You may want to consider short term pharmaceutical therapy, with or without

counseling to handle the depression. Mild or severe, depression can inhibit

even the best intentions of losing weight, and basic overall functioning.

Consider it, it may make a big difference for you.

Hi,

Here's my introduction. I discovered this WOE before Christmas last year.

I did real good on it for a while, but got bored during the holidays and

gave it up for a while. Fortunately I didn't gain back any of the weight I

lost. I started again a few weeks ago and plan to stick with it this time.

It's going to be a lot easier for me this time, because my best friend and

another friend from work are also doing it. But the best thing is my

husband started Atkins a week ago and he is just doing great! I hope to get

lots of support and good tips and ideas from this list. If anyone has any

good recipes to pass along to me, I would really appreciate them. Thanks

for letting me join your group.

Hello to everyone on the " Atkin's-A-WayOfLife " One-List!!

I am just new to this list although I am not new to the One-List

program. I am just beginning to start the Atkin's Diet and I am looking for

others who can share tips, techniques, and recipes.

My name is Bill Elias. I live in Des Moines, Iowa. I have been married

for 12 years and I have 2 kids. My daughter is 7(soon to be 8) and my son is

5. I have been overweight since a child and I am looking for some type of a

plan that can help me loose this weight once and for all and do so by

understanding the systems of the body and how it can help itself

scientifically to lose weight. I am 35 years old. I have high blood

pressure, inflammatory arthritis, and severe vascular disease of the legs.

Anything that can potentially help me with these problems is worth my time

and effort. I currently weigh 290 lbs. and am aiming for somewhere around

225. I've not been there in many, many years so I may have to adjust that

number when I get to that point. I have however lost 25lbs. in the last 2

1/2 years by following the lo-fat, high carb program. I have been on a

plateau for the last year and 1/2.

I am looking forward to being a part of this list and will look forward

to hearing from all of you. I am also working on becoming a certified

personal trainer so I have lots of motivation to help me get where I need to

be. Thanks for your time everyone.

Hi,

I am a complete beginner on the Atkins' Diet. I just bought the book and read

it

yesterday. Today was my full day following the induction diet. Not too bad,

but

very different from anything I've ever done before. I have to admit, I'm

skeptical

but my parents used the diet and lost over 40 pounds each in 2 months. They

said it

is easy to follow, but can get boring.

I am married, with 2 kids and trying to lose 25 pounds. I promised myself I'd

lose

10 pounds before the wedding, and then I gained another 10!

I was just accepted a severance package at work and felt this was an excellent

time

to give myself a morale boost...new hair color, hopefully new body.

I'm looking foward to joining a supportive group who can give me some tips,

support

and success stories.

Talk to you soon,

Deb
