Guest guest
Hi , yes, too many carbs will make you want more more more!... Could be sugar also if you are having too much....Gotta read everything, sounds like a drag but it's a must...Hidden carbs in alot of stuff...O.J., my favorite thing in the world, has more carbos in one 8oz glas, than we should have all day!!.....I foolishly thought when I first started this " diet " that carbos were just in bulk food, not liguids....Jeez a tiny Yoo Hoo has more than OJ.......Drink lots of water...some of us drink 100oz a day AND 8oz additional for every 25 lbs we have to lose.....Don't give up now, if you've got 2 days under your belt, continue!......Judi
Guest guest
Thanks for the encouragement Judy. I feel better today, and I am READING THE LABELS! I was having too many carbs. Even salad dressing has carbs and my taco sauce! Anyone have any good taco sauce or seasoning recipes? That is something that will be hard for my husband to give up, but our taco salads were great last night. Next time just minus the taco seasoning and sauce. We threw out our old scale when we moved, so I will have to go buy another one tomorrow. That will be exiting to see the numbers drop! Guest guest
I just joined this list, have been on another for a while. Have been on Atkins for 1 month, have no idea how much I have lost because I can't face a scale. Have a reference pair of pants that I am using as a judge of how much I have lost. Maybe I will weigh in the future. Carlene

Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I am new to this list and to the Atkins' Diet. This is my 7th day on induction and I have lost 4 lbs. so far. My goal weight is 125, so I have 20 lbs. to go. I reached ketosis on the second day of my diet and have stayed in the dark to darkest levels the whole week. I am going out of town for 10 days, but feel confident I can stay on this diet. I don't feel hungry and I don't have any cravings. I didn't really believe all the claims that Dr. Atkins made in his book because I've been deceived many times by diets, diet products, etc., but I am happy to say that he was telling the TRUTH!!! ) I bought Ketosis strips at Target the other day. Most of you may know this, but the pharmacist cautioned me to drink plenty of water on this diet. When too many ketones build up in your system it is bad for your kidneys and they will shut down. He said if you have a fruity taste in your mouth you have too many ketones and need to drink water. Someone asked about Chromium Picolinate and I know a lot of information and sites dealing with the mineral have been posted, but I bought a bottle of it yesterday and wanted to share what it said on the side. CHROMIUM PICOLINATE: is an essential trace mineral shown to potentiate the actions of insulin and help control carbohydrate metabolism. DIABETICS: Consult your physician before taking. I have the two cookbooks that go along with the diet, but I am always looking for more recipes. Thank you for the great cookbook on the shared list! Guest guest
WTG Marilyn.......you are on the right track. Keep up the good work. Very interesting about the fruity taste, I had never heard that before. Thanks for the information. craftywolf

Guest guest
Hi and Greg, Welcome to the Atkin's Way of Life List! It's so good to have another husband and wife team doing weight loss together. My wife Terri and I are doing Atkin's together. She's been on it 2 weeks and lost 9lbs. I've been on it since May 23 and I've lost 45lbs. It's really awesome to watch yourself just " melting " away! LOL Looking forward to hearing more about your progress! Bill 315/270/

Guest guest
Hello all! I am new to this list, I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and I must be glad Kathie is back too...ha ha! Missed all of the excitement Well I am in my first week and I have lost 5 pounds already, I don't feel like it though! I don't even feel like I am on a diet eating bacon and eggs! I have a long way to go though. I need to loose 60 pounds. Has anyone else lost a considerable amount of weight on this diet? I would love to hear an encouraging success story! :)Christi Oh and has anyone heard of having leg cramps, I did last night and thought it could be from lack of calcium?? Does anyone know about taking Tums? OR does that have too many carbs?
Guest guest
Yes I do remember. It does not look like we will make it there this year Too many other things going on this summer. Guest guest
I don't know how many carbs Tums have, but after being on the diet for a week, I haven't had heartburn once! This despite all the pepperoni I'm eating! And I used to get heartburn at least a couple times a week. Guest guest
Me too!! I love chocolate, my major weakness besides fruit. I will have a hard time giving that up, and to top it off my mother in law is sending me a pound of my favorite chocolates from see's candies!! YIKES!! I hope I can resist the temptation. I know I will since I have worked so hard at induction, I don't want to blow it now. I have to keep my eyes on the goal. I did try the Atkins chocolate shake today, it was very good and helped my craving. I mixed it with ice and half cream half water. Better than I thought it would be.
