Yes even my church too....I have come to the conclusion that if I ask for a blessing I will receive it...after my heart surgery some of the members that I thought were good friends looked the other way then after my cancer surgery I just seemed to be of non improtance to any of them....I can worship my Lord at home and with ones I come in contact as well as in church....He still answers my prayers and where there are two or three gathered in His name..and look what we have here.....a bunch that every time we sit at the computer we are gathered in His name..... I didn't have a computer back in 1990 but but all but one or two of my friends disappeared after my diagnosis/surgery. Guess they wern't true friends after all.

Hold your arm up as far as you can and massage (very very gently) from finger tips as far to shoulder as you can and gently pull accross the chest to the other side....the fluids are collecting in your arm....I forgot did you have lymph nodes removed....the lymph nodes is what gets rid of the fluids and if you had any removed the fluids stay in the arm....this is what the lymphodema nurse had me to do and gave me a lot of exercises to do but have lost my sheet....but the best bet is to check with your doc or his nurse.....Angel Huggs and Prayers Judy G wrote:

I never saw person one for my church.......after 2 or 3 months..the sisters finally came.and what they said make me sad.....it was that they didnt know what to say......that to me was the worst thing they could have said.....my hubby and I raised her....and my other sister.....so she was like a daughter to us........I lay in bed for 2 weeks with hardly anything to eat.....so did my hubby........

After my mastectomy in the hospital a few weeks ago, they told me

they were having problems with taking out the drain too soon, so even

though mine stopped temporarily a few days after surgery, they left

it in. Because it had stopped up with clotted blood and gunk, I was

instructed to make it un-clot by " milking " the tube -- carefully

squeezing it between my fingers and running my fingers down the

tube. I did this once a day and it ran great -- but for some reason,

exactly 40 mg. blood each day. I worried that I was bleeding

unnecessarily and on the 12th day after surgery they finally removed

it. But it was still flowing at 40 mg. each day when they removed

it. What I'm trying to say is that I now have a swollen hard bulge

there that doesn't seem to want to go down (like an extra breast

under my arm). Because I'm somewhat obese, I have one under the

healthy arm also but it is, of course, soft normal fat. The bulge on

the surgery side is a little bigger, and so hard! Therefore, I'm not

sure they shouldn't have left it in longer. Will have to check with

them on this soon. So, I guess my advice is, " Let it Bleed. "

(Rolling Stones song, haha.)

see what is correct for you. I had trouble at night sleeping on my

side with a pillow in front of me for the arm. It would hurt anyway,

or arm hang too low over the pillow... Not sure I did a good job

since I now have a hard swelling under the arm and a very slight

lymphedema which doesn't seem too worrisome.

I think they either don't want to bother with the burden of what to

say or do for you, or they don't know how and want to leave it to

other people. Or perhaps, like our more ancient society, they feel

it is ok and proper to leave such concerns to your family members who

will take care of all of this " ugly and unfortunate " occurrence from

friends & neighbors having to think of it, so life can remain

pretty. So, we are the outies. I also sense the attitude when

people cast their eyes downward upon mention of it that I am an

unfortunate and therefore I am " through " . Yucch.

Janie,

That happened to me as well. My doctor told me that they don't like

to leave the drain in too long because of a foreign object being in

the wound so he took the drain out and it kept swelling up.

I had to go back to him every few days so he could syringe

everything out, started off every 2 days then went to every three

days until I didn't have to go anymore.

I didn't have any problems with people on the net or off...but I know

some people wiped my mum when she was diagonosed with bowel cancer.

I think that some people get scared and don't know how to react. I

make a couple of jokes to put them at ease.
