I am a pillow person anyway....I just have one under my arm and sleep on my side with the pillow on top of me...and one between my legs......two under my head......geeeeeeeeeeesssssssss.....my entire bed is nothing but pillows. For every break or hurt..I put a pillow on it....LOLOL

Don't know if this is correct for you but at the hospital they told me the correct elevation of the arm is "at the level of the heart." I hope you have checked with your surgery dept., and not just us, to see what is correct for you. I had trouble at night sleeping on my side with a pillow in front of me for the arm. It would hurt anyway, or arm hang too low over the pillow... Not sure I did a good job since I now have a hard swelling under the arm and a very slight lymphedema which doesn't seem too worrisome.Janie > My arm is so sore and tight.........and swollen......what can I do to> relieve it? I did it last night...my hubby washed my hair and I sat on the edge of the tub.

I am a NEW woman today......lOLOL

My hospital discharge paper said I could shower but I couldn't believe it. I finally did it in a few days with the drain bottle held between my teeth by its tab & safety pin. Didn't feel very well, it almost fell out a few times when I had forgotten about it. But it didn't. You have to not forget to pay attention to it if you try this! I think they either don't want to bother with the burden of what to say or do for you, or they don't know how and want to leave it to other people. Or perhaps, like our more ancient society, they feel it is ok and proper to leave such concerns to your family members who will take care of all of this "ugly and unfortunate" occurrence from friends & neighbors having to think of it, so life can remain pretty. So, we are the outies. I also sense the attitude when people cast their eyes downward upon mention of it that I am an unfortunate and therefore I am "through". Yes, I have noticed that too Judy. so I just call them. I really

think it's just that they don't know what to say or how to act.

Personally, I feel better talking about it as objectively (yeah,

right) as possible, and that seems to help some of them. They see I'm

doing ok, then they're ok. Of course, there are days I'm not ok, so I

don't talk about or call anyone.

My husband is one of those. He just seems to be taking it in stride

and can't figure out why I'm so upset. Wanted to know if he really

had to go with me to my clinic at UMass tomorrow. Big help he is!

Hold your arm up as far as you can and massage (very very gently) from finger tips as far to shoulder as you can and gently pull accross the chest to the other side....the fluids are collecting in your arm....I forgot did you have lymph nodes removed....the lymph nodes is what gets rid of the fluids and if you had any removed the fluids stay in the arm....this is what the lymphodema nurse had me to do and gave me a lot of exercises to do but have lost my sheet....but the best bet is to check with your doc or his nurse.....Angel Huggs and Prayers Judy G wrote:

Hi Georgia.....I couldn't have said it better...I am not a bad person.I may have one or two vices......Not bad ones.I dont try to hurt people...I do what I can to help people... Im am good to animals..I pray..I do most all good things.....or try to......I feel I have a very good outlook on death...Im not afraid to die...it is going home to me..I dont wear the garments...I am not worthy of them nor the temples.......BUT.I do have God in my home.in my mind and in my heart..I dont go around pretending to be righteous. I am just a plain hard working, loving, caring,of God and my fellow humans......

If, covering up my body with garments, that I really dont deserve to wear..

Because...I am not a worthy member...........then I will go to hell....I doubt it...I am truly who I am.....Me

Hold your arm up as far as you can and massage (very very gently) from finger tips as far to shoulder as you can and gently pull accross the chest to the other side....the fluids are collecting in your arm....I forgot did you have lymph nodes removed....the lymph nodes is what gets rid of the fluids and if you had any removed the fluids stay in the arm....this is what the lymphodema nurse had me to do and gave me a lot of exercises to do but have lost my sheet....but the best bet is to check with your doc or his nurse.....Angel Huggs and Prayers Judy G wrote:

..someone needs to talk to some of these men... I hope you said come with me.....my hubby came home from work and took me....I thought I was going alone.....oh I wish I were there.I would go with you....put me in your pocket and take me with...

Yes, I have noticed that too Judy. so I just call them. I reallythink it's just that they don't know what to say or how to act. Personally, I feel better talking about it as objectively (yeah,right) as possible, and that seems to help some of them. They see I'mdoing ok, then they're ok. Of course, there are days I'm not ok, so Idon't talk about or call anyone.My husband is one of those. He just seems to be taking it in strideand can't figure out why I'm so upset.
