Guest guest Report post Posted July 9, 2001 , I have heard the same thing as well. I mentioned here a few backs that I was so worried about this that I called the hospital to see what my baby's records indicated. And, I'm an older mom, not a younger mom. They could have vaxed him from here to Timbuctoo and I would have thought they were 'protecting' him.

Guest guest Report post Posted July 10, 2001 But surely they would record the injection in the baby's hospital records if they did do it, right? Guest guest Report post Posted April 8, 2004 Jeanine, she is just beautiful! How many other grands do you have? Shaye Baby , Val will be so pleased that someone likes the name. She read it in a book awhile back. Don't know where the Marie came from. Dr. Burns started induction around six on Monday and baby was born at ten thirty am on Tuesday. She is a little doll with her chubby cheeks but biiiig feet. She's feeding well (Val is breast feeding) and all parts seem to be working. Coming home today so DH will see the baby. Val lives in the little house behind ours so it'll be easy to watch the baby progress. And yes, hope she's a soaper. Granddaughter Jackie wants to start helping so I may just take her up on it. I had made some lavender/oatmeal soap with shea butter (no color) and it is ready to be used. Hope it will be good for the baby. Now it's time to get to some serious soaping. With the baby and vacation I've fallen behind. I posted a picture of Vadel in my photo folder if anyone would likje to see her. Jeanine
Guest guest Report post Posted April 8, 2004 Jeanine She's precious!! My 8 month old granddaughter lives a couple of blocks away from me so I get to see her a lot also. I babysit at least 10 hours a week so she really knows her Grandma!! Today we took her to the mall and had her picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Tomorrow I will be scanning it into my computer so my daughter can email them to people. I'll be sure to put one in my photo folder in our group so everyone can take a peek. I don't think I've posted one since she was about a month old. It seems like just yesterday and can't believe she's 8 months old already. We bought her the cutest bathing suit today and I bought her a baby floaty with a sun cover for our pool. She'll be spending a lot of time in it this summer. She loves the water. I've taught numerous kids to swim over the years. But I firmly believe in not letting them go under water until at least age 2 due to ear infection possibilities. Enjoy that precious little one and I'm glad to hear they're home!! Baby , Val will be so pleased that someone likes the name. She read it in a book awhile back. Don't know where the Marie came from. Guest guest Report post Posted April 29, 2004 Hi , I am not a doctor but I have to tell you that those early tampon type of ultrasounds can cause a huge problem in a developing fetus.......if there is nothing wrong there can be.The fact that they put the wand up the vagina and the " waves " are literally closer to the fetus can cause lots of problems.I would wonder why the doctor isn't giving you folic acid to help protect that baby. The prenatals are critical to the body having the nutrients to " form " a healthy baby.I wouldn't allow amino either because that can cause a miscarriage. The prenatal I took was good.....it was Zenate by Solvay pharmaceuticals.I have no idea if it is still in use but could be worth checking out. I will pray for you and your baby. Guest guest Report post Posted April 29, 2004 >>I go in for another ultrasound tomorrow. I'm scared. I would be concerned about having so many ultrasounds. >>High hCG levels can also mean Spina Bifida My cousin has a child with spina bifida. He is age 6 now and you can't really tell. Try increasing folic acid, it is supposed to help with that. Also, many times the ultrasound is wrong. Dana
Guest guest Report post Posted April 29, 2004 Don't want to alarm you, but I have a son with autism and a son with downs. I have always felt that my youngest , (with DS) was actually my reward or compensation for having a child with ASD (Ben)! They are so different! I can remember all the times Ben has given me a spontaneous hug because they are so rare. on the other hand is always giving hugs! He is such a people person, so outgoing, friendly and affectionate. He loves everyone and everyone loves him! Never had any grief from the school because of him, they are always happy to accomodate his needs and include him in everything. Ben - well that's another story. Could go on forever about the fights I've had to have on his behalf. IF you do have a baby with DS, and remember it's only an IF - it's not as bad as you are probably imagining! I always felt that this was just a " fluke " and there was no connection but recent research has me thinking otherwise now. Do you follow the DAN research and protocols at all? Dr. Jill was doing a study on kids with DS and found a flaw in the MTHFR gene that effects methylation (don't ask me to explain it ! too confusing!). Anyway, she also found that kids with autism (or many of them at least) have this same flaw (and so do their mothers) and that is the basis for the latest DAN treatment protocol. I think its methyl B12, folic acid, TMG and something else. So there may be a connection after all. The einstein syndrome web site actually has a good explanation on the methylation system and what is wrong. You could check this out. It sounds like providing the proper supps as soon as possible with DS can make a world of difference for them. Just some info, just in case. Your baby could well be completely healthy and fine. I have absolutely no idea about this, but I wonder if taking the same supps during pregnancy (james protocol) would help at all? Something I'd check with a " qualified " doctor about, certainly don't go on my speculation! Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Laurie > Hello Everyone. I posted a bit ago that we are " expecting " . Very exciting. Cleaned up my body, our environment, our habits, etc. Feeling a little tired, but that's about it. Soo. I go in for a quantitative blood test, I was worrying about an ectopic pregnancy with my history. The follow up quant. test indicated that no, my hormone level hCG did not double as supposed to, but quadrupled. Holy cow, twins? Not quite. A same day ultrasound shows just one at about 5 weeks and a few days. So, the initial suspicion, that I was actually two months along and not one, was wrong. And, we can't see multiples. I go in for another ultrasound tomorrow. I'm scared. High hCG levels can also mean Spina Bifida ( my Mom has this and it runs strong in her family, showing up every other generation) or possibly Downs Syndrome. What is going on? Anyone else experience this? I'm keeping my enzyme, probiotic routine ( have yet to decide on prenatal supplements, as I've learned more than I realized with regards to product integrity). You do all you can, and prepare for another Autistic child if that happens to be the case, but where the heck do you go for Downs or Spina Bifida? I would never knowingly, intentionally cause harm to a child, but I feel that's exactly what my husband and I did, by getting pregnant again. What have we set this child up for? Do I recover a child from Autism only to go on a crusade to help a child with Downs? I was horrified by the idea of twins, yet, that seems to pale to my worry about this hCG thing indicating a possible problem " already " with our newest addition. As if we don't have enough to worry about. I've found that with my faithful consumption of enzymes, and not my prior spotty catch as catch can consumption has alleviated a few aches I was feeling in my legs. Could be coincidence, but knowing what enzymes can do, I'm inclined to attribute the benefit to enzymes, also, my eyes are clear again, no yellowness at all, almost bright white. Can that be attributed to enzymes? > > >
Guest guest Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I was told I had a high risk of having a downs baby with my first son. I wouldn't let them do blood tests on me for the next 2 kids. I spent my first pregnancy worried.... I refused the amnio because after doing research, the risk that the amnio would harm the baby was higher than the calculated risk of my having a downs baby. Changed doctors for my next child and was told that doctors can pick up the problems later on without an amnio anyway. I'm not sure what the high levels of hCG mean but most of these tests are somewhat subjective. For example, the blood tests I had done factor in age as well, but not the health of the mother. Then if you have a calculated risk of 1/200 or lower, you are considered high risk and they tell you. If you are 1/201 or higher they don't tell you but in fact you are really just as likely to have a problem. I really don't suggest doing lots of tests as they just make you worry. Don't spend the whole pregnancy worrying about what might be as I do think that the mental state of the mother has an effect on the child. I wish I had changed doctors as a more friendly doctor would have answered my questions and reassured me that the baby was most likely fine since there are things they look for that signify downs or spinal bifida - neck length, heart problems... 2nd doctor patiently explained it all to me. Find a good doctor who is willing to explain everything to you and it should help you calm down! My father claims that a child with Downs can be recovered if treated at birth with certain supplements.... If you are worried about it, please do some research on what supplements. I have to agree with the other post I read, watch the ultrasounds. With my first child, I had an internal early one (doctor told me I was high risk to lose him then forgot about it by the next appointment - was it really necessary to scare me????). Then one ultrasound at every checkup. With number 2 and 3, I didn't go to a doctor until 5 months pregnant. After the first time, I didn't want the doctors interfering and scaring me to death. Had about 5 with # 2 and 2 with # 3. Lots of people say they aren't real good for the baby. If I had to do it all over, I think I'd have 1 or 2 with each child. The risk just isn't worth it. Guest guest Report post Posted April 30, 2004 Abby, Your father is correct, except that treatment need not start at birth, although that is certainly preferable. My nephew started treatment when he was 3, and now he is a " typical " 7-year-old with no signs of Down's Syndrome. It's pretty amazing what can be done! > My father claims that a child with Downs can be recovered if treated at > birth with certain supplements.... If you are worried about it, > please do > some research on what supplements. >
