What heartbreak! Jackie, I'm so sorry that happened to you. -

I am so sorry your mother treated you like that! This is just

another example of how twisted and warped their thinking is. I am

particularly sensitive to the pet issue. My nada gave away two of

our family pets. Neither she nor my father cared to explain to me

that my kitten was being given away. And neither said anything

after the fact either. What crazy, crazy childhoods we had.

thanks...when we visit, I never ever leave the dogs alone with her...I did

once, and she opened the door and let my dog loose...we live in another

state, so the dog had no idea where he was...good thing we came home right

at that time, to see my dog walking down the sidewalk ! Naturally she said

it was an accident...but she didn't go looking for him..so I don't trust her

at all...and she's not allowed to give them anything..no food

whatsoever..LOL my current male, Rocky doesn't like her and wont go near

her, and that makes her mad...but my female loves everyone...she is not

allowed to yell at them either...or hit them...

Good for you. My folks have offered many times to feed and water and walk

(depending on the animal) my crew of horses, donkeys, cows, dogs, etc. (never the

iguana - LOL -even though he's a vegetarian) so we can " go off on vacation " ,

but we just say our vacation is right at home (with nearly 100 acres, that's

pretty accurate anyhow). Dad's unable and mom would never follow my requests

(like don't let the dog get into the road), so - like you - I don't take any

chances.

yup, the dogs either go with me, or my husband stays at the parents house to

watch them if I go somewhere when we're there.

Lizzy,

Thank you for your insightful and validating response. I love this

place and we so get each other. I really like your idea of how you

are spending this Mother's Day. Your are inspiring me to start a new

tradition this Mother's Day.

Blessings,

Hello Lizzie - I really admire the way you're creating such a happy

childhood for your kids. My mother also always used to say that

when my kids grew up they would hate me too, that it would serve me

right for having been such a terrible daughter. What an awful thing

to say to your children.

Oh I know what you are talking about thanks for explaining it. Now I

get it because they did the same thing in the Lutheran churches, and

Assemblies and the Evangelical churches to. My mom switched churches

a lot so I got around. But I did go to the catholic church with my

friend as a kid sometimes and I still sometimes go on occasions. I

know what you mean! Love Lizzy

Love Lizzy

My Mother's Day Hell continues EVERY YEAR. This year, my daughter (9

years old) and I are going to take a baking class with 2 of her best

friends and their moms. It's about 100 miles from my home and my

NADA is another 100 miles in the opposite direction.

Today, I told her I wasn't coming for Mother's Day and I got " Wait

until you're old and your daughter doesn't want anything to do with

you " - " What did I do to deserve this punishment " & " I wasn't such a

bad mother " .

Seriously, I'm tired of leading my life running from mother-in-law to

mother all the time. I've had it. I'm spending the day with my

daughter doing something fun. I'll send Nada a card and a gift.

Maybe my sister (who has completely removed herself from the

situation) will do something that day.
