Re: Raising Money & Awareness - Through a Tee. Ideas?!

Josh, your video is awesome! I never knew what was " wrong " with me,

but I knew my anger was ridiculous and I was ashamed of it. I was so

relieved to discover I'm not the only one. Watching your video made my eyes bug

out in disbelief when you leap over the table...fantasy but still - someone who

gets it! And a whole bunch of great people here who also get it! I swear, simply

knowing that it isn't just me being a raving lunatic has increased my tolerance.

Thank you :)

As far as the t-shirt design goes, here's my 2 cents worth:

How about a cartoon brain being shoved into an old hand-operated meat

grinder and the strands coming out the other end are the different text

sentences you have at the ending of your video? It would be a simple logo, and

you could keep it to a 1 color print, so you could offer it in a few choices -

grey on black, cyan on sky, etc.

I'm thinking brain in the meat grinder because that's how my brain feels - it's

not only my ears (or my eyes from swinging legs, or my nose from overpowering

odors, lol) and I'm thinking cartoon because I'd like it to appeal to all the

younger people whose parents are here looking for help dealing with this. And

the text is important because otherwise it's very difficult to explain what it

actually is. I know, I've tried, and when I see the tilt of the head and the

glazing eyes I stop because I'm embarrassed. Not because of the 4S, but because

my behavior has been so " bad " at times that this sounds like an excuse.

As someone pointed out earlier, we're probably not all going to agree on which

is the best wording or design -- which is natural.

Does anyone have time to gather the ideas, then post them in a poll (onsite) so

everyone can vote on the options?

We may want to vote on the words first, then vote on a graphic to go with those

words.

Anyone interested?

Or we can vote on the words, and let Josh take care of the design?

Throwing out more wording options...

Misophonia: Little Sounds, BIG Stress.

Misophonia: When sound means stress.

Misophonia: You hear sound. I hear everything!

What about a cartoon graphic of a big trembling ear connected by a wire to a brain. Not sure if anyone has tossed this idea out yet for the t-shirt, but I think a

graphic of Superman down on one knee with his hands on his ears next to some

kryptonite that is labled 4S would be nice.

That's how misophonia makes me feel. I don't post often but I have read every

post since I joined about a year ago. I'm the ex-linebacker, combat veteran,

that works out and has been a product manager making hardware and software

produts for 18 years now since I left the military. I'm 44 now, and I have zero

problems except this 4S that I have had since I was a child and it literally

makes me feel like Superman and kryptonite, helpless in it's presence.

LOL! PRN, I didn't mean to compare myself to superman. I was comparing myself

to the superman kryptonite relationship :)

We could have other superheroes in the graphic labeled, NFB, CBT, ACT, etc that

are trying to pull him away from the 4S.

I may be alone in this (and that's fine) but I think a lot of these graphics sound too complicated and will distract from the message... the message is more important to me than some picture that doesn't even represent everyone... if I saw a shirt with a few words and a complex picture, I'd be trying to figure out what the picture was and ignore the words. If our goal is to make people aware and prompt them to search out what misophonia is or ask questions.. I really believe that the simpler, the better... I would prefer to buy a shirt with just words.. or if there has to be a picture, a SIMPLE graphic... not one with 10 different words and images going on... someone would have to sit and stare for 5 minutes for that to be effective.

, I was thinking the Superman next to kryptonite labled as 4S was a keep it

simple approach. I think a lot of people know what kryptonite does to superman

so if they saw kryptonite labeled as 4S it would spark some curiosity. Maybe

have the website listed just below it.

The kryptonite in the graphic could be a pack of glowing green gum, a glowing

green bag of chips, etc.

I have no idea what kryptonite does to Superman.. but yours is one of the simpler ideas... some of the graphics (while very good) are way too complex for a passing glance... people will just ignore it because it is too much to try to absorb in a few seconds

I agree 100%

LOL! PRN, I didn't mean to compare myself to superman. I was comparing myself to the superman kryptonite relationship :)We could have other superheroes in the graphic labeled, NFB, CBT, ACT, etc that are trying to pull him away from the 4S.

Ah! kryptonite makes superman useless until he no longer around it, just like a

4S trigger makes me useless until I am no longer around it. Similar to fight or

flight, he has to get away from it. I was picturing the T-shirt starting a

conversation with someone that sees you wearing it in line at a store for

example as opposed to educating at a glance. I'm at a loss for an idea that

will educate or spread awareness at a glance.

WHO IS OUR TARGET AUDIENCE?

I am thinking that the SIMPLER we make this the better it will be. If we put

too much information on a Tshirt, no one will be able to see it.

The " Miss-oh-what? " idea is cute but I really dread it catching on especially

among younger people who could use it TO MAKE FUN OF . . .

A simple graphic: love the guy standing there with hands over ears!!

Just that and " RESEARCH FOR MISOPHONIA " on front or back and website address

using the word " misophonia " on front or back. ANYone who has it or has a kid

with it will get it immediately. Any nurse or physician who has heard of it will

get it. " Normals " won't get it but are they really our target right now?!!! We

can get them later when we get a better foothold and misophonia is a

better-respected disorder.

I think that's something we can agree on right now. Bumper sticker and wall

posters can have all the info and descriptions we want but the T should just

grab attention and go. The same word twice MISOPHONIA is all we need right now

I think if we wanted to represent 4s, then the superman idea might work. However, I think most people are learning of this disorder as "misophonia".Here's one possible image:Or maybe we should just stick with words?> > > > > >> > > > > > Hi ,> > > > > > YOU ARE SUPERMAN, no doubt about it. I don't post often but I have read every post since I joined about a year ago. I'm the ex-linebacker, combat veteran, that works out and has been a product manager making hardware and software produts for 18 years now since I left the military. I'm 44 now, and I have zero problems except this 4S that I have had since I was a child and it literally makes me feel like Superman and kryptonite, helpless in it's presence.> > > > --->

Like it! I don't have a problem with a picture because if you can't figure out what the picture is, I usually look to see what is written. But, simple is best.

How about the simple: "Misophonia -- Google It".

Yeah that is just what I said... I agree.

WHO IS OUR TARGET AUDIENCE?I am thinking that the SIMPLER we make this the better it will be. If we put too much information on a Tshirt, no one will be able to see it. The "Miss-oh-what?" idea is cute but I really dread it catching on especially among younger people who could use it TO MAKE FUN OF . . . A simple graphic: love the guy standing there with hands over ears!! Just that and "RESEARCH FOR MISOPHONIA" on front or back and website address using the word "misophonia" on front or back. ANYone who has it or has a kid with it will get it immediately. Any nurse or physician who has heard of it will get it. "Normals" won't get it but are they really our target right now?!!! We can get them later when we get a better foothold and misophonia is a better-respected disorder.I think that's something we can agree on right now. Bumper sticker and wall posters can have all the info and descriptions we want but the T should just grab

attention and go. The same word twice MISOPHONIA is all we need right now
