Weight....

It sounds like a few people had the " weight gain " that is listed as a

sympton on Dr. Kolbs list. I have had this....and it has been really

strange. Eating less than 1200 calories a day...and gained a whopping

15 pound in about 4 months.......

Nothing I did...not working out..not walking...lifting

weights...nothing changed what was happening. As my doctor said, it

is as if my body is not metabolizing sugar and fat properly. She

checked all my thyroid levels...and did an ultra sound of my thyroid

and i have a mild enlargement. (Maybe Kolb will put me on Armour).

I should remember to take her the results of the test I have.

I was a size 4 before I started having the fatique symptons, the

swollen lymph glands and skin rashers and am not like a 10!!!! I am

not tall...so every 5 pounds is a size on me.

No wonder..my body is full of toxins that are getting in the way of

it.

So I am wondering..for those that have had this weight gain....does it

correct itself...do you think...once these things are out????? If

so...how long did it take you?

Bring all thyroid test to Dr. Kolb when you go there. I brought mine and she looked at it and gave me armour for thyroid. Her definition and other definition on thyroid is different.

I believe these implants could do anything to us. I have good news my test on my capsules came back they were benine (spelling) so no cancer. I wouldn't doubt it if implants didn't cause cancer. I think anything possible after what I been through and heard from women.

Oh yes, the weight gain thing... Ugh. I was a size 6 when I started with my implant issues, and about 125 lbs. Now I am 145 lbs on a 5 foot 7 inch frame. Too much, but I can't seem to get it off. I do have thyroid issues as well. I know who used to be on our group had weight issues that only corrected themselves after she found out she was gluten intolerant (celiac disease) and her last letter was full of happiness that she had finally dropped the extra weight after she got her thyroid/celiac issues under control. I am getting tested for celiac disease now. Waiting on results. I think we can lose it, but I think we also need to get those thyroid/food allergy/hormonal/toxins issues figured out and dealt with properly. And

Exercise. The older we get, the more necessary it becomes. Patty, I wish I only weighted 145. That would be perfect for me. Oh dear. My

internist

said that she never saw anyone gain weight faster than I did. If I didn't like

her so much, I

would have punched her! Alas, she was right, as usual. It has been a very

difficult battle,

and now is my most serious health issue. Which, by the way, means I have come a

looong

way since explant.

So I quess all of you are saying that the " sympton " of weight

gain...doesn't correct itself with explant or correction of thyroid

issues. At least not like the " skin rash going away " .

Well...yuk...is about all I can say!

I think 'yuk' is a pretty good description of how we all feel about

the weight gain.

It may for some....but I gained a lot of weight, and it was a combination of

surgery, getting

sick, stopping exercising, law school stress, menopause, ruptured silicone

implants and

last but not lease, Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

So no, mine did not go away on its own. I am going to have to sweat it out.

If your doc is dosing by TSH and you're on a T4 only thyroid med,

that will explain the weight issues. You need the T2 hormone that

works on the brown adipose tissue (fat).

I had undiagnosed thyroid issues before implant...the surgeries just

make the active thyroid hormone (T3) drop..and so often this is when

the hypo makes a dramatic appearance.

check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for more info on T4 only

meds and the old alternative, Armour Thyroid.

I am currently not on any thyroid medication. My doctor thought

that I just had a sick thyroid.She did a full panel...TSH, T3, T4,

bound and unbound. All were low normal. Which to me was strange.

If my TSH was .3, one would expect T4 or T3 to be high and they

werent'.

She also did an antibody test for Graves. I don't have that. My

twin sister does....and my other sister is hypo...so...I am sure

that my thyroid may need adjusting.

After these implants are out...I will get it checked again.

Thanks for the support....

Thanks Donna...I will....

I am worried about this MSH. By description...I bet mine is way low

too. I can't be running back and forth to Atlanta....

Maybe that is also why the pigment around my nipples looks faded...and

has lightened quite a bit over the last year!!!!

Sis,

This is what I am thinking. I was wondering if we all didn't get the bio-toxin disease from these darn implants. I just don't like the thoughts of having something for life now, because of implants. I know there is nothing about this in the FDA warning book, nor the manufacture risk book. I guess they get by with it every day and to me that is sad.

Patty,

Yes, Dr. Kolb said the IV would help. I will have to ask her if it ever goes away or is it here for lifetime. Patty you said your husband MSH was very low 8, would you mind if I ask you what is wrong with him? I know he didn't get breast implants like me is why I wondered.

I was making a funny sorry if I offended anyone.

Patty,

Amen to that I feel you on that, same as me. It is also no coincidence that I have this after a little over a year with implants. I am convinced myself and I really don't care what a doctor says or his damn studies or books told him. I know why I have this at 37 years old. I agree with you totally Patty. Let me just say from here on out, when an if I ever go to another doctor, he will not argue with me or I will flat tell his ass how it is. I am not very happy right now with any of there non educated about the truth. I wonder if they like the implants because they get more business and money. I wonder if this doesn't stem from manufactures, PS, Doctors, why would they ever want implants to be banned. They would have less money in there pockets. I just don't know how they sleep at night the way they just left me for dead, a slow horrible one at that. I am bitter and I think this might stay with me for life. I have been let down by so many doctors. I just wish I would have found you all sooner. My plastic surgeon keep saying and the manufacture keep saying they have never heard of this. I don't believe them and never will on that issue.

This a typical with implants. Stick with the removal of them, it won't be long.

Lynda,

I could have been the bio-toxin disease did it and I thought the chiropractor did. I am just scared of it period, because of that one day. The chiropractor did get me to be able to move again, prior to going to him I was so stiff, my whole right side shut down (paralyzed). It did help I will agree with that, I told him I owed him my life for getting me to move again. I just didn't know about the implants and disease at that time.

Lynda,

This is true and very sad, our country has a sick problem if they keep letting this go on. I just wonder why non of the FDA warning phamlets say, women who get breast implants may end up with bio-toxin disease. I never read that part. Hell I never even heard of phamplets til last month.

Ten percent of all women are thyroid deficient. It is very common and, at this juncture, to say definitively that it has been caused by one's implants is not yet sound.

As far as expecting to 'feel' the effects of Amour or Synthroid, that's more The Placebo Effect. Millions of people are hypothyroid and don't know they are........ Some people are highly symptomatic while some people are asymptomatic. The reason it's important to know and to treat is that the pituitary gland will secrete additional thyroid stimulating hormone in response to the effort to get the deficient thyroid gland to secret more thyroid hormone. These elevated TSH levels may enlarge the thyroid gland enough to create a goiter and, without treatment, life threatening complications are possible since the untreated thyroid disease will worsen.

Sherry

Re: Weight....

A thyroid problem will generally require lifelong replacement therapy (armour or whatever). However, it is not that big of a deal, Donna. Low thyroid is actually very common in women as they get older (perimenopause or older). You are a little young for that, but still it is not all that uncommon. I suspect your implants may have accelerated the process....And then, I may be all wet.Ask Dr. Kolb about it.>> Lynda,> > OMG this is so scary for me. My guess is most of us have biotoxin disease, and that's why we all

got sick from implants.

Hi Sherry,

One thing I've noticed, (of course without any scientific data to

support it) is that after women are implanted, many many women

complain that they suddenly start gaining (or sometimes losing)

weight shortly after getting implants. I've noticed this on the pro-

implant sites as well as support sites for women who've gotten

sick. Since high school I maintained the same weight. I got

implants and lost 10 lbs. Then I had them explanted six months

later and gained back my 10 lbs within a few months. Also something

I can't explain is that while I had implants, my blood pressure

suddenly became high, and it steadily dropped after explant back

down to normal. I know stress could be the explanation for both,

however I've definitely had very stressful times in my life besides

this and my blood pressure was never impacted.

The only problem with this association is that women generally gain weight as they age. The key is whether the weight was lost following explantation.
