Guest guest
Migrianes can be trigger by many things, I have found triggers for many of mine. Some of my triggers are: These are the ones I can control: Red wine - it's the sulfates (sp?) in it. Sausage - and I love sausage. Lunch meat - it's the nitrates skipping meals - can't skip a meal or I'll get one quicker then well you know sleeping irregular - so I keep regular hours even on the weekends - boy I'd kill to sleep in, but it just isn't worth it anymore, "whine" These are the ones I can't: Low pressure weather fronts - not a darn thing I can do about them Estee Launder perfume - don't know what it is about this particular brand but it kills me - I don't wear any of her stuff but someone just walking by me that has alot on will trigger a migraine - so I am doomed. My grandma was big on Estee Launder stuff, but she learned not to wear it when I was around. She normally would wear nothing but. (I am sure there are others, but these are the brands that I know are definites!) Calvin Klien men's cologne - ditto on above Montly time - the estrogen drop very spicey foods - love 'em, but have to avoid them now And last but not least My pituitary tumor causes them and my lovely thyroid.........two things I can't seem to control or get a decent endo for.......but I still hope......... In Houston, Dr. Randolph is great for migraines, he's a neuro on Benz. Lynn are you still seeing Dr. Petak - I "fired" him. Janie Re: Re: (unknown) I FINALLY got back on the groups. Have no idea what happened???Anyway, I recently had a aura migraine.By the time I went to the emergency room, all I had was very HIGH blood pressure, anda heck of a headache. Went to the neurologist who "clinically" diagnosed me as havingmigraines. Very, very scary experience! The Dr. never told me to do anything, in fact, I haven't heard from him at all. Only the "on-call"Dr. giving me my results from the MRI. Real caring folks....I have another question, though. I finally took everyone's advise and halved my Armour 90 andLevoxyl. I was having the shakes in the morning so now I take half the Armour in the morning, then the rest in the afternoon with the 25mg Levoxyl. My question is, I feel ok now, but for several months I felt like I was undermedicated. Is thatnormal? I was getting the typical signs. But now I feel fairly normal. Well, as normal as athyroid patient can be.Are the migraines related to the thyroid in some way?Lynn

Guest guest
I haven't even told him about the migraine. I say migraine, cause I don't think that I have ever had them before??? All this stuff I am hearing makes me think twice about him. (Dr.P) I'm not where I should be, but I haven't had any problems with him yet......I'd hate to let him go, just because of his nurse! My med's will be up soon, then I'll go and have a good talk with him about my migraines, and see what he really does when you have an issue, and your numbers seem " in-range " ! PS I think fumes I was inhaling all day long was the culprit to my one migraine. Guest guest
I have the aura"s without the migraines. I have started to get a little head ache with them tho. I am 67 and have had aura's off and on all my life. I don't like them but I know I should be thankful that I don't get the migraines. I had total tthroid remove due to papillary cancer in l959. mary RE: Re: (unknown) Interesting about the aura. I have migraines that have been managed wonderfully with Topamax! I have very rarely ever had an aura with my migraines….wonder if there’s some kind of ZZZlink. I hate the day that it quits working for me. It has literally given me my life back in so many ways – I had become a slave to those headaches! I am allergic to Vicodin, so I am pretty much out of luck on the pain medicine train (according to most doctors in the world). Not that with 3 kids (1 special needs) I really have the luxury of popping pain pills and laying in bed – but some days, when all you can do it throw up, a pain pill would be nice, if only for the psychological benefit! I am rambling…. Holly From: Cathryn Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 2004 4:26 PMTo: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Subject: Re: (unknown) Janie,The topamax HAS worked for me, for over 2 years, then it quits. Could be my body adjusting, could be perimenopause (I am 44), I always had migraines during my cycle also. But so far, none of the migraines with aura yet... knock on wood!! I will try the increase in Armour first, to increase my T4, and try to get rid of the headaches that way. My T4 needs to move up anyway.I do like the idea my pup is alerting. Last time she alerted, I took some imitrex, and the headache was manageble... you know, no throwing up <g>. I may have to get her trained and certified as a service dog and take her with me everywhere so I can manage these headaches, don't want to get back to where I was before the topamax.Cathryn

Guest guest
I think the ONE reason I stuck with him (Dr. P) as long as I did was because Sepra (his nurse for those of you who don't see him) is so very great. She is his biggest asset. He is a class A jerk. If it weren't for her I would have fired him long ago, which is what I should have done. I will miss her alot. Him not at all. Guest guest
My daughter gets a migraine now once every 3 or 4 yrs. I can remember when she had them all the time, before she was treated for hypo. She always had the auras. I always have the auras, what few times I get a migraine. In the descriptions of "classic migraine", the aura is given in the description, along with a "thick tongue", before the headache begins. The headache merges with the aura and other vision problems and the other symptoms going away. Other symptoms gone, headache begins. Lovely. RE: Re: (unknown) I don't get the aura, but I do get extreme nausea and blurred vision. My neice gets the aura. While the aura is always mentioned, what they don't tell you is that it is very rare. Most don't ever get it. Also, 70% of the women who get migraines will stop getting them after menopause - Come on Menopause - I'm ready!!! Guest guest
As I described " classic migraine " in my other post, but I failed to mention that my migraines come in clusters, when they are present. All the other symptoms come on, usually for several hrs, then, as you said, BAM! This may happen every single day for a week, then go completely away for two solid years! Guest guest
It to depends on my cycling, but I to fit the criteria of Autism more than AS but at times can be to do well for a time and can appear very AS instead. So it to depends as many of us tend to move about on the spectrum If in crisis areas of the life will present strong classical autism because my ability to function is greatly challenged in all areas. when on medication and not coping with overwhelming issues can present like one with AS. I to also have of PTSD which can confuse my presentation much so at times. Sondra

Guest guest
Dear Shweta, Here is a good one liner on this one ===> I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals, I'm one because I hate plants! :-D Ravin '82 > Dear sir,Thanks for not being offended by it and having an open mind....This is something I feel very strongly bout...It's not like I was always a vegetarian,I did eat nonveg till a few yrs back...n then it just struck me one day that what I was doin was wrong and I decided to leave it for good.....also I've always had pets n seemed a lil hypocritical for me to love one animal so much that I would cry when they were sick or in pain n then on the other hand to b eating another animal.. > Please I'm not trying to b preachy or anything....Hope nobody is offended by this... > > P.S- Was spelling ur name as ASOKA intentional or just a typo error ? > > Shweta'
