Having deranged mineral transport, being mercury toxic, having poor

growth or development.

> What is the dosage for a 6yr old 46 lbs.?

25 mg 3 or 4 times a day.

You can just try it for a few weeks and see if it helps. Even if he is

high it takes a few weeks to really change body levels much so there

is little risk if you do check and adjust what you are doing based on

whether he has a mercury problem.

Yes!! He will need zinc. But do this wisely.

75 - 100mg of zinc daily may be indicated for your son, but you should do 2

things first.

1) Start slowly at 25mg daily and advance over a period of 4-6 weeks (maybe

longer) to full dose. Zinc will cause copper to come out of your system and

help with detox. If this process is done rapidly you may get adverse

reactions. You don't want to go too fast and discourage yourself.

2) Have your copper and zinc levels checked. Do this prior to supplementing

and then check in 6 months. If copper levels remain normal, it's ok to check

yearly. If you suppress copper too much, you will cause a problem with

hemoglobin synthesis and can induce anemia.

These are not problems for mercury toxic people. And seldom for

others, either.

We use the Water Oz Zinc, Calcium, Magnesium and Water of Life

formulas. It is clear, mixes in great with regular water or juice.

My just turned 4 year old son takes it with no problem. Our doctor

recommended it. One way to save money is to order it directly from

Water Oz online. You can get a gallon for around $54 which holds 8

of the $16 dollar bottles. Quite the savings that way. Find a friend

and share a gallon! Robin

No, in 'normal' people it shoudl be given the the correct ratios, I have

heard of 10:1 but I would suspect different sources say different things (mine

is

Willis Langford I think), so as not to cause an inbalance...........

I believe you need some form of B-6 for absorption of the zinc. Either P5P or

Pyrithione (?) spelling. They can't be given together. Give B-6 in the

morning. Zinc at night.

May want to consider Vit. C, Magnesium, Vit. E, Manganese, Calcium for supports.

Good for you anyway.

low copper makes my arm tendons a bit sore, like rsi................

chopping wood makes the tendons sore ............

stop the zinc and things are ok in a day or two.

took about four weeks of zinc to do that.

interesting about the difference between night and day. will try zinc

agian in the morning, interestingly took the zinc picolinate in the

morning when i was successfully loading zinc before the migraines got

to me. it just may be more efficently absorbed or not interefere with

the absorbtion of other minerals so much with the increased stomach

motility in the morning compared to night and sleeping.

things when given in the morning.

My son uses a towel to wipe the tongue. He says it is gritty. He swallows and

the residual must bug him. My son that does this isn't autistic but my other

son is. He says he needs to wipe the tongue. Maybe you can try a dry rag. He

doesn't wipe the vitamin off just the tongue. It's probably a small amount so

maybe add a little extra just in case, but it seems to get him to drink it. He

use to throw it up for weeks until this worked for him.

Carla

[ ] Zinc

My son has been taking zinc for the last 5 nights - 1 teaspoon and we

should be working our way to 2 teaspoons per night. I have been

giving it to him in water. When he finishes, he gags and coughs a

bit and trys to wipe his tongue with his fingers.

I have read that if you taste zinc you don't need it and if you don't

taste zinc you do need it.

Any thoughts?

Some of the zinc sulphates taste bad. Zinc citrate seems pretty neutral,

and then there is the wateroz zinc that tastes like nothing much at all.

I don't believe that taste thing, but I wouldn't want my son gagging. How

does the zinc taste to you?

Hi Marti

It sure tastes in this house the Water Oz I mean. YUK! but we are getting

some in.............does this mean we need it more or less??? All the family can

taste it, I can understand the lad who wipes his tongue I read about recently.

Mandi in UK

PS We have double strength Zinc, the Calcium tastes bad also - Sam spat that

out and this is a kid who can handle GSE and Biocidin herbal no

probs..............

Really, that tastes bad to you? Even if you dilute the zinc in water? I

don't think it's so bad compared with, say, the biocare zinc sulphate.

Okay, what if you just dropped it in a little lukewarm soup?

>>Yep, all 5 of us very noticable in water too although the calcium is worse

than the zinc. Sam does take them in his juice but I was hoping to do these of

the spoon. Still waiting for the magnesium, I'd made an error and ordered

Boron instead. I put that in the cupboard, not sure about that one LOL I agree

the Biocare is yuk too, even a 2 drops in water.

does resemble it sometimes :)

Will stick with it, getting more BCN minerals in these days so that helps but

he still hates the vits :(

theres seems to be a magnesium chelate and zinc chelate that is some

mix of chelates you can never find out what they are.

i find the 'natures way' magnesium chelate ok but the zinc chelate

not and i don't know what either of them is.

actually rainwater from a heavily zinc galvanised tank seems to give

a reasonable zinc loading but i have seen test reults for zinc

methionine on a pfeiffer post that just blew me out of the water, if

the pfeiffer docs had read it they wouldn't be using zinc picolinate.

Hi Haya,

giving zinc without food can be problematic as it can cause

vomiting. I think it's OK to give it with drink or food.

THANK YOU. So that's what caused the unexplainable vomiting a while back.

Do you think Ionic Zinc (Metabolics)would have an anti yeast

effect? Haven't checked out optizinc--try to give my very sensitive

daughter the least number of ingredients.

Thanks,

if you take a supplement and it works then she should be noticably

less sensitive so you are already saying it doesn't work.

amino acid chelates like optizinc are really what brough mineral

supplementation out of the dark adges into the light.

ionic minerals are garden fertiliser. have you taken it yourself?

if you don't do the supplements yourself you might as well drift

forever in the eternal half light of one step forward one step back

Mandi,

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying the Ionic Mag. Seeing benefits

but she has a bottom rash which means she might not be

tolerating it. So frustrated she isn't tolerating supps she seems

to need.

Hi ,

We trialed several zincs as well -- they were disastrous -- but have

had marvelous results with the LiquiZinc. Sorry, we've never tried

the WaterOz. I think andrew likes it? Maybe he'll post.

water oz zinc is zinc chloride, proably not suitable as a bulk zinc

source but may the occaisaonl use as a stomach anti viral.

it would be helpful for epople to say what zincs they had trialed

without good results or were a disaster, i'm not that keen on the

liquizinc becuse of the citrate in it

howver my disaster with zinc was the effetivness of the

suplementation with molybdenum removing to much

copper .............................

copper is actually more essential than zinc imo.

have written up on copper sebacate in 'minerals i take'

in

http://mueller_ranges.tripod.com/links/compendium/compendium.html

i suspect that high copper kids actually have copper in the wrong

form.

Now brand zinc picolinate was a disaster. I also tried upping the

minerals portion of our Spectrum II to increase the zinc -- YIKES.

Pfeiffer thought he was responding badly to the MSM, though he does

very well on the lower dose. There was one more type of zinc but I'm

spacing now.

i'm not that keen on the

> liquizinc becuse of the citrate in it

Yes, I remember now -- you think it feeds yeast? You might remember

I checked with Terri about this on this board awhile back. She said

they're not finding that, but I've been watching closely since I

started the LiquiZinc for signs of yeast.

Did you follow a chain on abmd awhile back -- someone posting their

own thoughts that what looked like high copper was actually low

copper. I know I'm butchering that but it's always stayed in the

back of my mind as we monitor progress on the zinc...
