Hi Ebony,

Hurrah somebody else from UK!!!! wow you have already done so amazingly, I

am aiming to lose 30lbs and after lots of advice from this list I will be

eating four meals a day and I will be also taking Myoplex Light and Phen

Free. Next week I will be starting the four meal thing just so I am into the

routine for when I start. I hate milk shakes so I will have to hold my nose

to drink it!

Talk to you soon.

Hi Lucy ,

You are in Somerset wow beautiful place . I was recently at Butlins

with the

family .

Bognor Regis. No too far away ?.

Well I am in London. It's nice to be able to share the body for life

programme with a group especially when someone from the UK is there

hehe.

Thanks for the praise about the weightloss . Still a way to go

though . Just

one question where do you get your supps from. I was think of

ordering from

Easdirect. The only milk shakes I like are from Macdonald's . So I

will be

struggling to drink the shakes too hehe.

Anyway great to know you are there.

Luv Ebony

Lucy, As for you getting into the 4 meal thing, if you really want to do

well, you better get used to the 6 meal thing!! Good luck, Leaner.

PS. No fish and chips, bangers and mash, Shepherds Pie - unless they're

balanced that is.....

HI Laurie:

Thanks for posting and introducing yourself and .

Sorting behaviors is very tough when our kids have OCD and other alphabet

soup. IN our family we had to change our parenting completely to cope with

OCD effectively. We were rather laissez faire parents who enjoyed having

the kids make witty repartee at our attempts to maintain order as they were

so humorous and loving. Well how many times do you have to pay someone

$200/hour to be told to straighten up and a family is not a democracy and

the kids were being disrespectful? For us it was quite a few times.

When our kids are very sick they can barely manage any sort of discipline

as OCD has them in its cruel grip. A book that helped me a lot was Dr.

Ross Greene's " The Explosive Child " . It taught me to pick my battles and

to focus on essential things like safety and let other things slide and not

feel like an ineffectual parent. ALso Steve's psychologist gave us a

professional parenting plan to follow where for months we tracked good and

difficult behaviors with a point system. Points could be cashed in for

rewards of the children's choosing (with a parental veto of course), and

when the point balance went negative there were consequences up to being

sent to the room only to come out to do chores to earn points and get to

the positive zone. It was a lot of work, but it really helped us regain

control of a very difficult situation. It also it taught my husband and me

to stick together on issues related to parenting even when we wanted to

differ.

I was the tough one and my husband was the push over. Now he is very

strong and we get compliments from our friends about our kids and their

behavior. Strangely enough, placing consistent limits although unpopular

at first, is appreciated by all kids, even those with NBDs, as it makes

them feel safe when everything seems out of control due to OCD.

We had to chuckle as our kids spent two weeks with relatives this summer

and came home hypercritical of the laissez faire parenting they saw. They

were so proud that we would not have tolerated the difficult behaviors they

saw going on. It was hard for us not to laugh at their reports.

is very lucky to have such loving, supportive and understanding

parents. This will help her tremendously as she does the hard work needed

to recover from OCD. Take care, aloha, Kathy (H)

I would spend the $15 to have your gym do your bodyfat for two reasons. 1)

It's likely that they know at least a little bit about what they are doing.

2) Those scales are so inaccurate it makes me wanna overthrow the company in

some high-powered military weapon fashion and have them charged with crimes

against humanity.

Supplements? Myoplex Deluxe is more for those who want to gain muscle and

have little concern for fat loss. Regular Myoplex is my recommendation for

you along with a creatine supplement like Betagen. If you are interested in

fat loss, also add the metabolic enhancer Phen Free.

Good Luck and welcome to the group. Stay in touch!

I've used Lean Cuisines before. Just read your labels and once you get to eating, if you have more than a portion of something, you just eat what you are committed to and leave the rest. =)

Hey Tim,

I'm in the same boat. I'm in my 7th week of BFL program and just started

to play ice hockey about 4 weeks ago. I actually started because I was

feeling so terrific after my workouts.

What I suggest because so far it has worked for me is to fit the program

around game week. As you know that to be successful on the BFL program you

have to plan ahead.(meals, workouts, family functions) Well this goes for

hockey also.

Usually on game day would be weight training day. And I will probably go

light that day. Maybe only two 10's that workout. The following day I do my

aerobic solution at night after work. I know it's supposed to be done in the

a.m. But my games end at 12-1am and I'm leaving for work at 5am. (I think

Bill would understand)

But I don't substitute my hockey for a workout. It's a plus, not an equal.

So far during the contest I have lost 26lbs and went from a 30% bodyfat

to about a 17%. Started at 278lbs and my goal is 225. Big goal, but I'm not

going to fail myself.

Also I usually have a myoplex about a hr. before game time. It gives me a

boost.

Hope it helps to let you know there are others out here. Good luck to you.

Anybody out there from Long Island???New York????

I'm glad you posted this, because what it demonstrates is that as

long as you know the effects your particular exercise and eating

regimen is having on your body, there isn't just a " one size fits

all " plan for getting into shape. BFL's one way, and there are other

ways, including making a BFL-plus-whatever hybrid, depending on your

goals.

Welcome Pat, and congratulations on making the decision to start

BFL!! I have been BFLing for 7 months and I recommend that you stick

to the program exactly as it is outlined in the book. Three days of

HIIT cardio and 3 days of weight-training on alternating days. Any

more cardio work and you will probably overtrain and bonk your

energy. Take your free day as suggested in the book - you will need

the break, and get lots of sleep. Get your 6 meals in, drink your

water and stick to the program. Please keep us updated on your

progress and feel free to jump in anytime here!

don't know if it will be harder for me to lose because of my age. But

nothing ventured nothing gained.

and eliptical 3 x's a week. They suggested I do an aerobic tape the

other 4 days. I have 2 questions I need help with. From your

experience do I do the aerobics on my free day? Also do I do

aerobics at an interval after dinner or before I eat. Thanks in

advance for your help.

Hi, ,

Welcome, I know I sent for the info Dec. 2000 and didn't receive them until

Jan 2001. Anyway, it had a date that you had to begin your challenge by and

it was like two weeks after I received the packet. Double check on your

packet to see if it has a final date. If not, I would just ask for a new

challenge form. And you have to take your pics within three days of

beginning your challenge. Don't forget to get your bodyfat tested too!

:-)

Hi Tom -

Congrats! I have been doing BFL for 8 weeks now, but never did

officially sign up for the challenge. I am really enjoying it and it

feels great to be working out again. Just don't get discouraged and

keep going forward. Good luck and welcome.

Hi !! Welcome to the group :) You mentioned your schedule being really hectic....Is there a possibility of getting your own equipment and working out at home? I know when I work out at home, I can focus much better, and I dont have to get myself "together" to go to the gym....it also gives me some time to myself. You could possibly get up an hour or two earlier, and spend time in your own "gym" before greeting the day :) Just a thought :)

Blessings,

~~

ps, your english is great :) nothing to apologise for!

Hello Everyone!I am about to begin my Body For Life program, and so I decide to introduce myself (I’ve been on this list for a couple of weeks already). My name is , I live in South Brazil, in a city called Novo Hamburgo, 23 years old. I own a design company for two years now, graduated in Advertising last year, starting a post-degree in Integrated Marketing Communication. I am going to start BFL next week, Monday, and I am a little scared of not having time to workout everyday, my daily work schedule is quite demanding, that’s why I decided to look for other people who are doing this program, maybe you can help me in this. Also, I fear not have enough commitment to the program... But, anyway, I am very happy to be starting this right now. Well, excuse me for my not-so-good english, ok?Thank you all, wish me luck Müller Jr.

- Welcome!

I am new also - yesterday was actually my first day, although I have been preparing for it for two weeks.

I also have a busy schedule - I own my own medical transcription service and I work from home, but nonetheless I have a very busy schedule. I find that getting up first thing in the morning, like by 5 a.m. and get to the gym by 5:30 works best for me. I get home around 7, have my breakfast and ready to tackle the day!

Did you purchase the BFL book? It is a big help and definitely motivating. Also, this list is also EXTREMELY motivating and supportive and will help you stay committed to the program!

Best wishes to ya!

Thanks, ! I apologised for my english because it’s been quite a while since I don’t practice it. So, just in case...:-)

Anyway, I am thinking about getting all the gear needed to workout at home, but I am afraid that I may cheat or something. But still, I am already searching for best prices in those. I intend to start my program on Monday 26th...

And to you, Kit, thank you for the tip, I was thinking about it too, and that’s what I’ll do. Thanks for all the support too, you are great!

Thanks again,

Hi ,

Welcome to the board, I have received wonderful information and fantastic inspiration here. I don't think I could of gotten this far without the board.

My first 4 weeks I did cardio at home. I planned on walking/jogging outside in the am but the rains weren't very cooperative so I used a jump rope inside. I did a fast walk around the house, then a very slow jump rope skip, then a faster jump rope skip, then a fast two foot jump rope. It was very hard at first due to being out of practice of jump roping but I improved and felt it gave me a good cardio workout.

After the first 4 weeks I did a walk/jog up and down the street while the kids (8 and 4) watched TV or ate their breakfast in the morning. I am happy to say now (week 12) I can do all running during my cardio. This is from a person who has HATED to run all her life. I love it now and can't believe the rush it gives me and the power I feel afterwards. The best part is that I only have to do it for 20 min. 3 times a week, so I can give it my all and then be done with it.

Good luck!

Jill C1W12D4 (almost done!)

What kind of activities can anyone recommend otherthan jogging/running for cardio in/around home? I donot belong to a gym and don't own an exercise bike, etc.
