LOL ,

you just answered the question the same way I would have.

The accountability bottomline is our own responsibility.

Even mentions that in his book that it wouldn't matter

if he were in the room with you,

you will not exercise unless you want/decide to.

One thing that sometimes seems so contradictory to me on the boards

is when I read that a person doesn't have the *time* to work-out,

I often wonder how do they have the *time* to post?

For me, feeling good is a priority and TB makes me feel good.

I also had chronic back and neck problems which are greatly relieved thanks

to TB so even though my weight plateaued for a very long time, I kept kicking

& pressing play, concentrating on how TB made me feel and not what the scale

(or even my doctor based on the scale) said

Barb

who has the same diet but calls it the *Yenta Diet*

Hi Everyone

Thank you for all of the warm welcomes. I thought I would try an email list

because every time I posted a message on the taebo board, I never received

a reply!

Someone asked for some info about me so here goes. I'm 34 yr old female,

married 13 years. I have 3 children 17 (on May 1), Alyson 11

(tomorrow!), and 8. I " m a stay at home mom. I do some part time

clerical work for our church but I don't really consider it a job because I

do it when I want!

We live in southwestern Pa. We are @ 50 miles south of Pittsburgh Pa.

I just started taebo a few weeks ago. I borrowed the tapes from a friend. I

can tell a major difference in the way my back and neck feel. They are

definately stronger. I had hurt them in 94. I have lost like 3 inches off

my abs, 1 1/2 off of my waist and an inch off of my hips. I just started

the advanced tape a couple of days ago.

I taught Weigh Down Workshop for 2 1/2 years. It is a Christian weight loss

program that teaches you to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are

full. You can eat whatever you are craving. There is a book available if

anyone is interested. You can get it at any bookstore. I lost 60 pounds in

6 months. I had my chocolate pretty much every day!

When I quit smoking I put 20 pounds back on and that's where I have been

stuck ever since! It was my own fault for putting the weight back on. I

knew what to do and didn't do it! So now I am having to restart with my

eating. I still had about 10 - 15 pounds to lose when I quit smoking. Add

that to the 20 I regained! I know I can do it!

I was wondering if any of you were like me who never really stuck with

exercising before taebo but once you started it, you stuck with it for a

long period of time. The message board has helped to keep me motivated in

keeping going when the mood strikes that I don't want to do it today!

Do you all have accountability with one another on here????

I better go do my taebo instead of just sitting here talking about it!

Hi & welcome!

I'm a newbie too, just a little over a week and this group

is so helpful in so many ways I think you'll be surprised.

I'm bad about sticking to exercise too. I tend to start out

really strong and fizzle out after a week or two. It's also

alot harder to keep something going if you're doing it

alone. Now you've got many exercise buddies!

Just the fact that I'm in this group helps me to push

myself on the days when I'm in no mood for exercise. I feel

like I'm accoutable and also if I get off track, they're

are so supportave and can really change my mind so I WANT

to exercise. (It's true!!!)

Take care

I guess that's how we hold each other accountable. We know each other and our

weaknesses and help each other out when things are difficult. If you would

like, you can post your results often. We love to hear results. But, you don't

have to. I have a back injury (back surgery in 87 and still a bulging back) and

taebo has done wonders for my pain. All the ab work in taebo really helps your

back. Enjoy the advanced tape. I really got into taebo once I advanced to the

advanced tape.

LOL I named it after me cuz it is my diet I have developed after realizing

deprivation wasn't going to be a lifetime change for me. So I eat when

hungry, try not to over-eat and have added fiber and removed some saturated

fat while eating less *healthier* things in smaller protions.

Barb

who can eat this way the rest of my life and with TB will never worry about

gaining again

Congratulations on your results so far! I have no doubt that you will reach

your goals! In answer to your question about accountability, yes we do help

each other out when someone is having a rough time getting motivated. First

and foremost, though, you have to have accountability to yourself. You are

the only one who can push play. But on the days when you're having trouble

doing it....we will certainly be here to give you that little extra push!

This group is a tremendous support group and we all love to hear about each

other's progress along the way. We all try to brag whenever possible, even

about our little successes along the way.....it really helps keep us

motivated!

I think you will like it here....we have lots of fun :)

Hi Barb

Gee didn't realize the wisdom in my own words! lol I better write down the

date because God only knows when that will happen again! lol

I do keep telling myself I have to do this for ME! Not for anyone else. I

do like the original videos just for the fact that the fittness of the

people in them motivate me. They are where I want to be physically. I would

love to get the live set but things are tight right now. So they will have

to wait.. SOMEDAY. I may have to make them a reward for a good job done!

Did you name it Yenta on your own or is this something that's really out

Hi ,

I tried the Tae-Bo message boards too and had the same

problem!*lol* Plus, I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to

those. I can't figure out how to move around and get back

where I started or find messages.

It was sort of discouraging for me because I would read

messages there from people who were getting ready to start

and they said they wanted an email buddy and I'd send a

message and never hear from them again.

Actually, one person wrote me back but just talked about

how busy she was and then how miserable she was about her

weight and that she just couldn't get started.

I actually got some help from that message because as I was

reading it, I thought to myself, " This woman is never going

to start, she just wants a co-miserator email buddy. "

If you'd like, we could check in on each other if you think

it would help.

I got a lot of help out of this group because being a

member here does make me feel accountable for my workouts

and these are some of the most incredible people I've met

in a while. I look forward to talking with them everyday

and if I didn't keep up with my workouts, I'd feel guilty

posting messages. That's what makes it good though.

If I ever had a slip, then I'll come in here and I can't

help but tell the truth to everyone here because they've

been so helpful & giving. Then of course, they'd talk me

back into Tae-Bo!*lol*

Take care

Hi Laurie! Welcome to the list! You will find that this is a tremedous

support for your through this roller coaster that we call OCD. How old is

your ? My oldest daughter has ocd and her name is she is 10yrs

old, she was diag 2yrs ago but could have been diag at 4 if we would have

known. I have two other daughter 5 1/2 and 3. My Kelsey 5 1/2 is starting to

show alot of signs of anxiety, she just started school this last Mon. it was

extremely ruff the first 3 days and has gotten better the last 2. I am

sighing a big sigh of relief because even came to me Tues and asked

if Kelsey has ocd as she was in her room crying that she didnt feel good and

couldnt go to school as she didnt want to make everyone sick. Well we seem to

be getting past this with alot of self talk and rational thinking which she

seems to be able to do which was the difference between her and

because when Tiff had a particular fear or obsession there was no way to

rationalize with her. So we will be keeping an eye on this little one and

continuing to teach her coping skills as the need arises. When did your

daughter start to show signs of this? My daughter seemed like this from birth

she tends to be on the impulsive side instead of the compulsive side even

though we have gone through compulsions in the past. We went to Chicago for

the oc conference and it was a great gift for her to be able to meet another

10yr old girl with ocd and share their experiences together. Well Im signing

Hello Laurie,

Welcome to the group! Hope you will derive much comfort, knowledge and

day-to-day sustenance from the many people here who walk in your shoes. You

are definitely not alone in your experiences. Take heart: Your Doodle-Bug

can have her life and her free spirit back with the right treatment, which

is available now.!

I am a Child Psychologist and specialize in Behavior Therapy for OCD in kids

and families. Sounds like you are doing all the right things to do--it is

very hard to know how to strike that balance between support and limits

(although they are not mutually exclusive) in the early stages of turmoil.

What I often suggest to parents and kids who are just coming coming to terms

with the diagnosis, and in the early stages of diagnosis/treatment, is to

take one day at a time. You have a lot to digest and deal with right now,

so taking on additional goals can become overwhelming. It is terrific that

you have a doctor (don't know what kind?) who wants to get going right away

with help. A doctor or therapist with expertise in childhood OCD and

Behavior Therapy will guide you through the vast complexities of the early

stages, and will help you select the most important things to focus on.

In the meanwhile, just letting your daughter know that you are there, you

care tremendously, you will do all you can to help her get through this,

absolving everyone from guilt and blame, validating her feelings, these are

valuable things to focus on while you wait for a more structured treatment

plan.

I will make my standard pitch: Read everything you can about OCD and its

treatment in children, especially Behavior Therapy. Make sure that you have

a therapist who has this expertise because BT is very effective, if done

properly and in a timely manner.

Hope this is helpful, hang in there!

Aureen P. Wagner, Ph.D.

Hi Laurie,

I'm new to the list also. We started getting my son (9)

tested when he started washing his hands an average of 24 times a day. His hand were beginning to look like he was 90 years old.

He was put on prozac for OCD and immediately the hand washing stopped. It was like a miracle.

Hang in there. Tomorrow we're starting on Zoloft because he got a rash from the prozac.

Hurrah somebody else from UK!!!! wow you have already done so amazingly, I

am aiming to lose 30lbs and after lots of advice from this list I will be

eating four meals a day and I will be also taking Myoplex Light and Phen
