Hi Jill,

Thanks for the jump roping suggestion. I thought about

that but didn't know if I'd be able to do the interval

training without killing myself.

Its good to hear that you've been able to improve to

all running as I also HATE to run. Knowing you could

do it will help inspire me as I continue to make

progress.

I made a bunch of gel candles in wine glasses last xmas and gave a lot for

gifts. embedded things in them. they turned out beautiful. problem

is...... I used wicks with wire in them so they would be stiff in gel.....

and they rusted after about 6 months. turned the clear gels cloudy. still

have some more gel, need to find different wick. just thought I'd mention so

you gel candle makers would be warned about those wire core wicks. I even

saw some of that wick with a gel candle kit. guess the moisture content in

gel doesn't work with wire

Gaye, here is a very basic recipe for cp soap that you might want to try...

12 oz lye

24oz lye

96 oz oil (I use 20oz coconut, 16oz olive, 16 oz canala, and 44oz soybean)

Now if I was you I would check out the following site for more about making

cp soap before I began...

http://users.silverlink.net/~timer/soapinfo.html

Kathy's site is just one of many that can help you...

I'm also a newbie, just made my first attempts at bath salts and bath bombs..

I've really been having fun with this!!

I'm wondering if it's necessary to measure your salts into specific

proportions or can you just add whatever amounts you want when your doing a

blend of salts?

Also, one day when I get REALLY brave, I'd like to try making soap, not the

glycerin type, does anyone have an easy recipe for a beginner.

Thanks

Hi Gaye,

It is fun to create wonderful things isn't it? Of course you could just put

in a bit of this and a bit of that, but what if it turns out great and you

don't remember exactly what you put in it? So, when you are putting in a bit

of this and that, just make sure you write it down! Ultimately you will want

to weigh your ingredients and figure in percentages so that you can be more

accurate in your calculations, but for starters using volume measurement is

probably fine. Then at some point you can convert your volume measurements

to weight. I would definitely recommend that you keep good records of

everything that you make---even if it turns out wrong---that way you will be

able to look back and see what you have done. It can be really simple--I

keep mine in notebooks by the date that it was made and use that code on all

my finished products.

Welcome to the group, there are lots of nice folks here.

Have fun.

Thanks for the recipe Barb.. I do live about 40 miles south of Majestic

Mountain Sage.. that is in Logan Utah..

I think they have classes on making soap.. it's just being able to get

there.. I was signed up for a class on bath salts, lip balm and bath spray..

the day of the class the canyon road was snow packed.. so ended up turning

around and heading back home..

I'll have to give your recipe a try.. one day when I get REALLLLLY brave.. LOL

Thanks again

Hi , Welcome from Nevada. I am mom to Amy 13, Kelsey 11, Davey (DS) 23 months, and Will 23 months. Life is never dull at our house. Davey is just learning to walk and is very proud of himself. He is also starting to make some very interesting animal sounds! He has about 10-15 signs that he has mastered. I really enjoy hearing about everyone's kids. This is a great group of people. Looking forward to hearing about your crew! Newbie Hi everyone, Just wanted to post a quick intro ... Sara invited me to join the group ... I am ... Hi Connie,

Welcome a board. If you go to the bottom of this page you will see an

address there for the library and lots of recipes. I would choose one that

just had a few ingredients to start. Do you want pure vegetable soaps or

ones with some animal product? Some of are die-hard veggies and others enjoy

the extra qualities animal products bring to soap. A while back a beginner

wrote that she had started by using one simple recipe and made it twice, once

using tallow (animal fat) and once with olive oil, I believe it was. I

thought that was a great way to learn first hand about the differences the

type of oil will make in your final product. Good luck and have fun. :-))
