Thanks for the tip on the glutithione; i plan to do that as well.

I have been using the Godzilla zapper for about 1 1/2 year, and I do

get some benefit for sure, but it won't do the entire job by itself

because I have other issues like long term damage, and blockage

evidently. I think of it as another part of the therapy. I've been

wearing it over the liver for about a year, and 1-2 hours a day.

I do the Hulda recipe.

Dennis, do you know of where I can find a " pro " ? Are you talking

about medical people or just somebody trained in this? Is there

someplace we can go to find where there are people who do this in

Arizona? Thanks, gail

Gail,

No, not in Arizona.

Find a practitioner anywhere and ask them for a local referral.

Use local resources like health food stores and alternative health

publications.

In NJ, www.abundalife.com 732 775-7575.

By pro, I mean someone who has a track record of successfully treating

people with ozone in a professional clinical setting. Have a few treatments,

observe carefully, ask a lot of questions and after you have gained their

trust, ask them to teach you to self treat. If they say no, at least you

have learned something from your questions and observations.

It doesn't make much difference whether you have 5 meals or 6 or 7 as

long as you're eating every 2-3 hours and not going for a long stretch

without food. It's fine to split regular Myoplex packets in half or to

have two Myoplex lites, whichever works best for you. Splitting

regulars is usually cheaper.

I've used all of the supplements you listed. Phosphagen has too many

calories and too much sugar for a woman trying to lose fat. Great for

skinny guys trying to build mass though. Plain glutamine powder is

helpful for workout recovery and it helps immune function. Cytovol is

basically glutamine in a tasty flavored drink mix with too many carbs

for women trying to lose fat. It's very tasty and it is helpful for

recovery, but it's stupidly expensive for what's actually in it.

You're better off taking plain glutamine eating those carb calories

instead of drinking them. Betagen is great for muscle growth and

recovery, but it's not for everyone. If you're a scale watcher, or

still have some fat to lose, the immediate weight gain and possible

bloating from Betagen will be pretty unnerving. Here are a lot of

posts about it if you want more info: http://skwigg.com/id53.html

Yes. However, if you leave an air gap and store at room temperature the

Sweet tea and not much else. Since your friend is from Russia he may be

confusing KT with kvass a term used for several variety of fermented drinks

popular in that country some of which taste an awful lot like KT.

I would recommend a developmental pediatrician vs a neurologist. Dr. Lesley Rubin is great. Dr. Alan Weintraub or Dr. Sonya Bussey.

,

Diagnosis for Autism is done using a rating scale. One should be given to you as well as other people (such as BCW or School Personnel) who have worked with your child. The scales are then "scored" to indicate whether a child is/is not Autistic. A Developmental Therapist or Phychologist may also observe your child and participate in the process of identifying whether characteristics of Autism are present.

May God Bless You and Your Family,

I used to avoid loneliness. Then I decided to just accept the feelings

and not try to push them away or force myself to be social. Now I

enjoy my solitude, and the times I am with people are easier too. I

think getting older helps, especially when your hormone levels start

to go down, and you get calmer.

I do like to be social to a certain extent - definitely on my terms -

with people I know well - ones that accept me - and in familiar

enviroments. I do not like crowded places at all - sensory overload.

If there are too many people I have problems hearing conversations

and other sensory issues - space, smell, noise etc.

Even when I enjoy socializing it wipes me out - I need limited social

contact - and if I do attend a social event I often retreat to a

quite area if possible - failing that I tend to 'zone out'.

Lorna,

I enjoy socializing, but on my own terms. For instance, if there are

family get togethers, I drive separately from my parents so I can

leave whenever I want.

My friends are very few and they are easy to keep at a distance since

they are usually involved with rasing their kids, or else social

engagements. I can generally see them as often as I like...because I

don'tlike to see them often. I haven't seen my best friend in about

seven months now.

I enjoy being alone, but do sometimes need to go out and be with

someone. Funny thing is, after an outing, I usually come back

remembering why it is I like to be alone so much.

:)

I guess I would put myself somewhere in between. I do like some

socialization, but only if it is with someone I feel comfortable

around AND someone that I have something in common with that I can

talk about. (That would be someone that shared one of my special

interests.) One or two people or small groups are best. Even then I

need to have a little time to myself afterward. I don't like crowds

but can sometimes tolerate them in order to something I like, such as

going to a movie or museum exhibit.

Later this month I will be going to Origins, which is a very large

gaming convention (roleplaying, miniture games, and " non traditional "

games). The crowd is more toleratable than most crowds to and I think

that it is because most gamers are APTs, so I feel I can let my guard

down a little bit.

Currently I have my husband and daughter for company, as well as my

daugter's boyfriend who is often over here. I also get together with

a small group and play D & D every Saterday. This is really more than

enough social interaction for me. I am not sure if I would get loney

or not without these interactions.

I think I have more desire for solitude than the average person, but

maybe not more than the average APT. Probably the most difficult part

of my marriage was to explain to my husband that sometimes I need time

alone. This was very difficult for him to understand and I had to

state this is a very melodramatic (but true) way to get him to accept

this - if I could not have some time to myself at home, I would have

to leave home for a while to get some time to myself or I would have a

break down. I don't need to leave the home, it is enough to just go

in the other room and read or be on the computer or do one of my

hobbies. I am not sure if he understands, but he at least accepts it

now.

I LOVE small social gatherings, even if they're just at random. Since in live in a town where I don't know anyone I can go out with (i.e. in friendship, dating, etc.) I get excited even when there are crowds around (and yes, I'm Aspergian: surprising, eh?): Ihave a way of making the people around me seem more "spaced" around me, i.e. they can be grouped close together, but I can imagine them to be three feet apart (and it's not hallucinating: just visual control). But yes, I do get awfully lonely if I'm in those situations for too long, if I don't have anyone to talk to that is. As to social belonging, we're not exempt from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (third tier for belonging-ness). Enjoy Father's Day!-Kirsten Steinbach

llah,

I don't like crowds either but can also tolerate them somewhat is there is something I want to do. If I want to see an exhibit, go to the zoo, or just have something to do while waiting for a train or whatever, I can generally handle the crowds. It helps if they aren't too loud or annoying, especially during a movie or guide presentation.

I used to play D & D a lot when I was younger. My group broke up long ago and I haven't found any decent replacements for them since. So, mostly I just use the rules to write stories and generate worlds. The one thing I don't like though about the new edition of D & D is that it is much more accomadating of evil and evil characters. In the old game that was not sanctioned by the rules. Now though about half the Prestige classes are FOR evil characters. This is one reason I haven't bothered talking to any of the other people I have seen looking at the game material when I was at the bookstore. The last thing I want is to get hooked up in a group that is all evil aligned, not when I usually play Paladin vairants or good wizards.

I'm not one of those Aspies that can live without any socializing at

all. I don't like forced or random socializing, i.e., with strangers. I

like to be around people I know and trust in a situation I can control.

I don't like situations where the main objective is chatting. I like

socializing that is built around a shared experience like watching a

sporting event or a movie or playing a game. Something with an outside

stimulus so I don't feel so self-concious. I do feel tired after any

kind of socializing, even positive, so I always need time

to 'recharge.' But some things are fun enough to be worth it.

I'm usually ok in crowds if I'm with someone I trust, like my

boyfriend. He kind of works as a shield to deflect unwanted senses and

interactions away from me. Alone in a crowd I feel vulnerable and am

subject to panic attacks due to sensory overload.

Questions

Questions to ask:

1) Do you subscribe to the view that autism is NOT simply genetic in

origin, and may be due to various other factors (e.g., obstetric

complications; exposure to toxic agents; and prenatal, perinatal, and

postnatal infections, viral infections, etc.) and do you accept that there

has been an epidemic of autism which is not simply explicable in terms of

changing diagnostic criteria or genetic factors, and if so, what

environmental factors are you researching?

2) Does the word 'cure' simply imply treatment of symptoms, or do you

actually believe it is possible to really cure autism permanently, or are

you instead looking for a way of countering or preventing the development of

ASDs?

3) If you accept that autism is a pervasive developmental disorder,

leading to abnormal neurobiological/neurochemical functioning, do you

believe that the existence of co-morbid conditions is because they are

separate discreet entities or would you advocate a medical model that sees

so-called co-morbid conditions as being part and parcel of the

neurobiological/neurochemical dysfunction that causes autism, and thus

propose a fully integrated medical model in preference to a behavioral

model? (By co-morbid conditions is meant disturbances such as OCD, Bi-Polar

disorder, a seizure disorder, ADD/ADHD, NVLD, depression, anxiety, sensory

integration disorder, motor problems, et al.)

4) Have there been significant developments in neurofeedback research

and autism which suggest that by using such technology there is

the possibility of permanent change in neurological functioning?

5) Is it possible to arrive an integrated theoretical model which

simultaneously integrates the notions of autism as being the consequence of

an Executive Function Disorder, a Theory of Mind Deficit and a Central

(Global) Coherence deficit and would all three be necessary for a diagnosis

of autism?

6) Is it not a bit premature to look for a cure when the etiology of

autism is uncertain, or is you research also focusing on etiology?

Unless things have changed in the nearby years, SID didn't have a

diagnosis code. But OT's and other use the term and help with it.

This is just me, but I think some people will just actually have

better/sensitive hearing, for example, and that can make them

sensitive, or more sensitive, to noise. But at the same time, I think

some kids/people just can't handle noise and have regular hearing.

(sounds contradictory I guess)

My OCD son was/is sensitive to odors/smells, food textures...got dizzy

easily (apparently that means something)...can't think what else at

this moment. Another son had a thing with certain materials (texture,

the feel of it) and couldn't stand to wear some things. He also had

one of those " sock seam " things bothering him when he was younger.

So far as our experience, occupational therapy helped. We did the

brushing and pressure points just a bit and quit it, found we didn't

remember to do it each nite, so quit. (This was with OCD son) But he

also got other OT and it all helped I feel. I know when the brushing

started, an OT aide at school said she had seen it help kids, noted

the differences, but it took about 3 months (or something) to begin to

see positive change.

So those are just my thoughts!

SID does not have a ICD9 code so that its treatment can be reimbursed.

In my opinion, then, it is a disorder that is not recognized as such.

The remedy would be to research the disorder and its treatment to

gain support from the the medical community that it is a disease entity.

Kids that have SID suffer anxiety and emotional feelings that coincide

with being " different or out of sync " and so I think that to a certain

extent, psychological assistance for these kids is warrantred as well

as the OT.
