Shaye, I bought a 100lb. drum of flakes in March of 2006 for $104. I think the crystals were a couple of bucks less. Not sure if their price has gone up any. Sometimes you get big chunks rather than flakes mixed in and at first I was worried that they wouldn't dissolve as well but they did. I think I'll keep getting the flakes. They don't jump around as much and I don't feel like there's as much in the air when I open the container. They're not really light flakes (like fish food or baby cereal) but heavier slivers of lye about 1/4- 1/2 inch big. Does that make sense? (No shipping if I pick up). Debbie let me know if you want some. Or anyone else - I won't split a bag so if you want lye you have to take the 55 lb bag. I work next week so please let me know asap. I'm thinking my resale certificate should cover it all as far as NYS tax. We just wanted the MSDS (wich is a reasonable request) just to be safe on the road. And nobody was slamming you. ette simply stated some things she knew about the rules and regulations of trasporting lye. As a supplier I think she has learned a few of these things that other people woulnt normally know. I paid the $34 and whatever in change because that is what you stated. I dont have another $10. So I guess you will have to cancel my order as well and send a refund paypal to Shaye@.... You cant state something is one price then charge another. And to try to make us feel guilty because you are " stuck " with it? I dont think so! If you thought it would be $34, then get there and he tells you $44... YOU should have not bought it. Shaye LYE I have to say that I am quite angry right now. I have been bending over backwards trying to help some people save some money and it looks as if I am being flamed for being nice. I am going to explain to you where I get the lye, how I get the lye and why there is a price increase. I worked for a water resoration and carpet cleaing company for 7 years. Through that company I made large purchases of cleaning chemicals from a chemical supply company. I became friends with the owner of that company and gave him lots of business, wrote him many checks making him lots of money! As a PERSONAL favor to me he allows me to purchase lye from him at COST!!!!!!!!! at COST!!!!!!!! he knows that I have a candle and soap business. He buys from me and passes out soap for gifts at Christmas time for his other customers He doesn't even charge me a delivery fee and brings it right to me!!! As a personal favor! that is why I have never had to worry about transporting it, other than the one time I picked it up directly from the warehouse. He knows that I am not buying 8 bags of lye for just myself and he charged me $44.95 per bag. He won't do me THAT big of a favor I am going to ask that if you have already paid through paypal to please have an additional $10 ready for me at the gathering. I have pruchased lye from him for 2 years. I absolutely guarantee that the lye is good! I personally use it. it is 100 % sodium hydroxide If you are worried or scared or for any other reason please let me know if you are going to drop your order...so I know how many bags I am going to be stuck with. This is horrible that I am trying to do everyone a huge favor and save close to $100 per bag and bring your cost waaaay down and I might end up with the short end of the stick and losing time and money. Is this what Deb Z. meant by " lye wars " ? :-) (grin) I think sometimes things don't come across the way they were meant to in emails. That's what makes them so dangerous. Do you realise that if you were to try to buy this lye it would cost you well over $100 and that I am saving you a huge chunk of money? Well obviously you know how hard it is to get and how expensive fees can get. There should have been no question to begin with....... I bought it anyway because I thought I was still doing everyone a huge favor even at $10 more. I didn't even charge you for my time. I didn't even charge you for my gas to go get it I didn't even charge you for my energy expelled to load 400 lbs into my car. I didn't even charge you for the extra gas that will be used in my drive from hauling the extra weight. I do you a favor, save you some money and instead yes I do get stuck with the lye but that is fine. I will use it or sell it to someone who appreciates it. Oh and you want me to guilt you......I am now stuck paying that much for my lye.... If I kept my mouth shut I would still be getting my lye at the better rate!!!! So, all this has cost me!!!! no more favors from me! the nice guy always finishes last! I had already transfered the money to my bank account to pay cash for the lye. I keep my paypal low because I worry about getting hacked and losing money You will either have to wait for a transfer from my bank to paypal to go through and then I will refund or I will give you your cash back at the gathering.
